Why haven't we created exo skeleton armor like Iron man?

Why don't iron man suits exist yet? Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to create. Shit it doesn't even need to fly why don't we have a full bullet proof exo skeleton armor yet? Has this shit already been created but hidden from the public?

Working on it. Battery power is the worst problem.

It's not the suit itself that would be a problem, it would be the power requirements in order to get something that heavy to function. It would also do absolutely nothing in the face of explosions, as the rapid change in air pressure is what kills you. So you would have a suit that would be ungodly heavy (to the point of being immobile) if anything happened to the power supply and would do absolutely nothing in the face of armor piercing bullets or explosives. Even ignoring the cost needed to cover a customized suit's creation for each and every soldier, the lack of reliability without a power source and its inherrent weakness in the face of explosives and armor piercing bullets makes it more trouble than its worth. Of course, all this could change overnight if they could create customized suits for cheap and the power was reliable and long lasting.

Exoskeletons already exist; however, there a lot of unresolved engineering problems in making an "Iron Man" suit.

>fight wars in deserts
>cover yourself in a huge metal suit

Listen newfag it’s the Jews who are meant to be oven roasted

Galactic crusade when?

has existed for a while

We could have our soldiers significantly more armored and with better equipment and weapons, but the cost would be very high.

It is a simple fact that human life is not valuable enough to jump the gap between a well equipped soldier and a perfectly equipped soldier, when we could for that same price shit out a thousand more well equipped soldiers.

People have been working on it for like, over a decade. It's not an easy thing to do.

Power supply is a big issue (this was even the big issue in the comic, I think).

Weight/bulkiness is a big issue just for an artificial increase in strength. Weaponry is another big issue that would add to the weight and bulk, and if you have any type of rockets or explosives, that's a weak point that could kill the operator, if targeted.

Considering all those flaws, and the obvious lack of flight, a tank or a jet is just a better use of resources with current technology. Instead of an iron Man suit, they would be better off investing in improvements to drone technology, or some type of light weight, high speed, one-man operated tank.

Ir's unnecessary. Unnecessarily expensive, unnecessarily complex, unnecessarily inefficient, unnecessarily redundant.

This stuff requires a nuclear power source that can fit in a backpack

Stupidest shit ever.

>Why don't iron man suits exist yet?

It's basically useless.

Modern military philosophy revolves around 1) small high-tech intervention teams with a high degree of skill and mobility to reach small but vital targets 2) Very high tech weapons of mass destruction for larger targets

The increasing cost of technology as well as their increased efficiency make traditional warfare impractical because very powerful weapons mean that very powerful nations won't likely dare fight each other on the ground and usually engage in containment warfare or tactical strikes against enemies vastly outclassed in terms of skill and technology.

The development of the atomic bomb as well as the increased costs of military equipment caused powerful nation to stop attacking each other head-on, which is why they have been relying on proxy warfare for decades. Military supremacy means you can only fight indirectly for dominance over specific territories.

In that context, exoskeletons are useless. It's too much of an investment to equip simple footsoldiers and the lack of mass destructive power means you'd rather spend that money on ships and fighters than on that one trinket.

No good way to power it up. You cant lay cable in middle of battle. Nikola Tesla tried to solve transportation of electricity through air, but didnt make it.

Metal exoskeleten is heavy, even if we used aluminum alloy.
There's not enough power to sustain flight. Batery doesn't have enough storage .

couldnt you have cellphone type battery cells distributed across a suit and kep it charged with body motion and heat? something kinda like the crysis suit but instead of magical powers it would have enough servos to reduce recoil, turn at the waist faster or jump a little higher or land from higher up without breaking your legs.

I know they had powerloader looking things years ago but why not something compact and simple to wear under regular fatigues or something for a little boost? its not close to Iron Man but i wonder if thats the future.

We have actually.

This is probably as far as we're going to get in our lifetime. Mobility and strength are going to be a big concern, while protection only matters for the vitals. So you'd expect exoskeletons to be developped in order to offer some physical support. It's getting pretty good already. Some people already say they feel better walking with an exoskeleton on their feet than walking on their own.

And you don't really need that much energy to make those concepts work either.

Need some lapotron crystals.

active usage of jetpacks in the military would exist if they could be constantly fueled. the only reason why the ironman suit works is because of Tony Stark's reactor which is a perpetual motion machine.

when it comes to military technology, if they can implement it they will try to do this. how do you think flamethrowers and land tanks became prominent?

no infinite power sources retard

Even if it could be powered for more than 30 seconds at a time, the person inside the suit would be pulverized by impacts. Mark 1 ironman would never survive that fall in the desert.

The rocketeer was cooler, he didn't even need all that metal suit bullshit. Just a helmet, some gloves and a jet pack.

>Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to create

Then go do it yourself.
