Christian Persecution?

Was the real reason for this because of the early Christians being so close to Judaism? Was Roman Jew hatred the real reason for this persecution?

It was because they didn't worship the other Roman gods. Had they worshiped Jesus as one of many deities they would have been more accepted into the Empire.

Back then, everyone was a religious extremist by today's standards.

The truth always gets hunted down.

>early Christians being so close to Judaism

>Hebrew in general.
Because Greeks are more tolerant.

Pic rel.

Saint Paul in Athens. The place where Christianity was born.

Not the place where Christianity was born.
You certainly specify it's time of spreading on Greece

I mean, Christianity is a mudslime religion, except Jesus teachings, those were godly, ethically

...

No Romans respected the jews. Christianity on the other hand was problematic for Romans because they were converting a lot of people , diminishing the local cult sacrifices to pagan deities.

They were also perceived as a wierd group which ate actual human flesh and blood(misunderstanding the Eucharist)

>You certainly specify it's time of spreading on Greece

Who and where the fuck you think the bible was written?
You think Jew back then had the right to write?
The entire place was a Roman colony stupid amerimutt.

It's because Christians refused to participate in the civic religion and were not given the same exemption that the Jews were given.

>New testament
Aye.

By the way,
There's a whole flag up on my replies.
Focus.

Only Luke and Acts were authored by a non-Jew.

When you worshipped Roman Gods you had to shekel up, buying statues of Artemis and Apollo. It literally says this in the New Testament. Read the letters.

Romanes eunt domus!

Are you fucking blind? You cannot read what says over there?

Christ was not Jew but semite in general and he didn't even speak hebrew but aramaic and greek.
The entire new testament writen by the Greeks and its a journey IN GREECE.

"The First Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians follows his Letter to the Romans in the New Testament of the Bible. Paul then wrote a Second Letter to the Corinthians, again in response to issues that arose with time. "

Corinthians from Corinth GREECE

Never though about the “losing followers”.

That’s exactly right. Less people shekeling for Zeus and Apollo at the temples. The Jews weren’t converting Gentiles. They stuck to their own and loved the whole “taxes” part of the empire. That’s why so many of them were tax collectors.

Lol completely forgot that the NT completely references mainly European places.

Rome, Galatia, Corinth, Thessalonica

>Was the real reason for this because of the early Christians being so close to Judaism? Was Roman Jew hatred the real reason for this persecution?

Yes. For the first few centuries of its existence Christianity was considered a sect of Judaism and not a seperate religion. However Christianity was somewhat more hated than Judaism because Christians would attempt to proselytize and convert Romans whereas Jews wouldn't. The Juedo-Christian split happened for two reasons - The Christians desperately claiming they weren't Jews out of hope that would result in less persecution, and the Jews desperately claiming they weren't Christians out of hope that would result in less persecution.

>EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IS A JEW
Oh user, how do you sleep at night?

this

Muslims might seem crazy, but they just haven't caught up with the times

The Roman pagan value system was rooted in individual strength and respect for authority. Christian morality abhors individual strength and power, and rejects authority. They posed a threat to the prevailing order.

>Galatia
Galatia = Anatolia not Europe.

You see this testament?
Its in Greek.

>Christ was not Jew

Yea that totally explains why his mother and adopted father went and sacrificed animals in the Jewish temple for him.

Have you even read the bible? Or just watch passion of the christ. The romans didnt want to kill jesus. They killed jesus because the religious leaders wanted him dead. He was impeding on their rackets. The religious leaders were getting everyone amped up and angry at jesus. Accusing him of being a false prophet because he beat the shit out of some fake priests. The romans had no choice but to kill him or else their empire would have been divided.

Jesus being the Christ in entirely dependent on him being a descendant of king David, as well as his perfect adherence to the Mosaic law. He may of spoken Aramaic and Greek, but he was a Hebrew and practiced Judaism(before founding a new religion).

It's true that Christianity has roots in Greco-Roman world, but it's ridiculous to deny it's root in Judaism.

>Romans respected the jews.
>mfw Goyim education

Rebellions don't cause people to respect you

i don't agree. i think Greek and Roman mythology was largely just that: a mythology, with no concept of greater morality. In fact most myths have no moral teachings at all. they had no concept of cosmic justice, only morality in the sense of living well.
Christian dogmatism was threatening because it introduced cosmic justice, strict dogmatism and a reversal of the moral structure. that's also why it was so successful. they were like the original SJW's except they were actually oppressed.

The amerimutt said that Romans treating the Jew kindly.
Do you agree?

The Romans respected the Jewish religion, mainly because it was perceived as ancient and therefore legitimate, and so special exemptions were made for the Jews with regards to the imperial cult.

It's because they were (and still are) a pest. And what do you do with pest? You exterminate it.

No you retard, the Romans didn't force anyone they conquered to convert to their religion, not just the Jews.

>mfw Amerimutt education isn't a meme

Go read about the Jewish rebellions. They quickly gave up on this idea. Israel was basically depopulated after one of the roman punitive wars.

>Yea that totally explains why his mother and adopted father went and sacrificed animals in the Jewish temple for him.

It was not a temple.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleansing_of_the_Temple

Bible is Judaeo-Christian, not Christian. Any branch of Christianity that worships Bible as God's word is false Christian.

Jesus got pissed at them specifically because he thought they were deciding the Temple of the Jewish God. He considered it the Temple of the Jewish God.
Youre on some next level mental gymnastics.

The Romans expected everyone to participate in civic religion( with the exception of Jews) beyond that they could practice their own religion be that particular to your own nation, city, or family.

To not participate in the civic religion was considered treason, this is what got the Christians into trouble.

Obviously the Romans would never tolerate open rebellion from Jews.

defiling the temple*

>The Romans respected the Jewish religion

Civis romanus sum

.

Jew is not a race, simpleton.

It doesn't matter if Jesus allegedly "was" Jewish. He "was" during his life, not "was" his whole life, and certainly not in death or resurrection.

Well it was not exactly a temple, but A MARKET!

No. It was because they claimed "ultimate truth" (thanks for falling off your onager, Saul) in the face of demonstrable reality. Don't make testable claims about Ontology unless you understand Ontology.

And the Jews were exempt due to a diplomatic treaty, not because the Romans thought Judaism was cool and honorable.

No, Jew is a racial category as much as it is a religious category. The Hebrews, Ashkenazim, Sephardi, Mizrahi all being examples of Jewish races.

>Jew is not a race

Protip, there's such a thing as an ethno-religion. 21st century Tumblr SJWs deny such things exist, but in the ancient world no one gave two flying fucks what SJWs on Tumblr thought.

>t. indoctrinated goy

Definitely not. Many Jews lived in Rome before the birth of Christ and weren't persecuted.

>Many Jews lived in Rome before the birth of Christ and weren't persecuted.

Name one Jew who was a Roman General.

Protip, there's no such thing as ethno-religion. That's ethno-culture. Tribalism. Its entirely hypocritical for religion and race to intertwine.

Being Hebrew does not make you Jewish and being Jewish does not make you Hebrew.

>diplomatic treaty

As long as you pay the taxes.
But if you didn't have the money how they treat you?

The first Christians were Jewish-Christian. Tried to corrupt Rome with their one god bullshit to cause a rift to destabilize the Empire.
They succeeded eventually thanks to Contantine.

>the first Christens were Jewish Christian

Don't feed this bullshit lie please. The first Christian Churches were Judaeo-Christian because they worship Bible. Bible is Judaeo-Christian. Jesus was the word of God and wrote no scripture.

Why they didn't try to prosetilize others using their own religion? They scared something?
The prosecutions started when Christ said that he was the son of "God".
