The fact that no Japanese group has ever produced a series focusing on drugs and/or alcohol just goes to show how far anime still is from becoming a serious art.

>degeneracy
>art

every other art form has at least addressed it

But since when drugs and alcohol it's an issue in Japan? Hikkimoris are by far an much more serious social problem

Japanese parents being overbearing and emotionally distance is a far more serious social problem

>drugs
>serious
Only manchildren take drugs

So what? That doesn't mean anything.

this desu

Guess my parents are japanese.

Japan is very strict on drugs, and rules on showing them in media are incredibly harsh as a result.

Shindol for serious artist

You haven't wtached Flip Flappers, right?

>bait
>rec thread
this level of shitposting is an art form

>main character is a qt lazy stoner who also takes shrooms
>story focuses on hiding her habit from parents and friends
>eventually tries to overcome it but fails because she's a loser
>each episode is a new plan to get sober
I'd watch it

Shindol is actually from Queens, NY.

you don't mean anything

Does the final episode end with her giving up on going clean and embracing her drug abuse?

>the fact that
>serious art
Did you mean to borrow from the Beatles copypasta on purpose?

>implying you can cure a degenerate mind

>>The fact that no Japanese group has ever produced a series focusing on drugs and/or alcohol just goes to show how far anime still is from becoming a serious art.
>>alcohol

Welcome to NHK, Akira, Rurouni Kenshin, Angel Sanctuary, Black Lagoon, Samurai Champloo, Kaze to Ki no Uta, Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass briefly features drugs as part of the plot.

Angel Sanctuary's characters are by far the most disturbing examples.

>focusing on alcohol

The show is called Bartender but it sure as fuck doesn't focus on the alcohol.

That's not what I'm implying at all.

>implying that's not what you're implying

But there IS a manga focusing on drugs.

What would anime gain when it became a form of art?

Japan likes to ignore or hide most of its social problems. That's why Tokyo Godfathers is a rare instance of showing Japan's homeless problem.

This is weak, or you are truly ignorant :

myanimelist.net/anime/1589/Bartender

It's about a Bartender. In a Bar.

His name is Sasakura Ryuu and he is referred to as the "Glass of God" or otherwise wielding said Glass. He's that fucking smooth as a bartender.

He can make anything.

He makes drinks you never even heard of with booze you didn't know existed, and a mixture of him and the narrator explain why it's so awesome.

see

Bebop had a shrooms episode

There are both. Read more manga.

Fuck, I want this.

Doesn't Akira count? Or is future PSI drugs not allowed?
Or do you just want a shitty degenerate "and this is how drugs was fantastic until i died over overdose"?

Kill yourself familia

>Author Himitsu (Peta-Chan, Tantou Henshuu Botsuko-san) kicks off the series with a 12 page chapter, in which a young man in the third year at this company finds himself spending more time in the office break room smoking, something that his cigarette notes when the fluffy toxic cloud shapes itself into a girl who comments on the habit, saying he's been puffing on her rather often recently.

Is anyone scanning this? This sounds hot?

pls be real

The fact that so many fans still name the nichijou as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” anime ever only tells you how far anime still is from becoming a serious art. Western animation critics have long recognized that the greatest cartoons of all times are ATLA and JLU, who were not the most famous or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Comic critics rank the highly controversial Killing Joke over classical comics who were highly popular in stands around comicon. Anime critics are still blinded by commercial success. The nichijou sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Cartoon critics grow up watching to a lot of western animation of the past, comic critics grow up reading to a lot of classical comics of the past. Anime critics are often totally ignorant of the anime productions of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the nichijou did anything worthy of being saved.

I see you label alcohol, smoking and drugs as degeneracy. Congratulations, user. You a good boy.

is funny because nichijou sold like ass

>Implying Watchmen, Maus, and others with MAINSTREAM, NON-NERD success aren't the most influential

:(

remember that one samurai champloo episode

>It's an user didn't read Ultra Heaven episode

>The fact that no Japanese group has ever produced a series focusing on drugs and/or alcohol just goes to show how far anime still is from becoming a serious art.

Anime companies are the same as porn companies and all of them are in control by Yakuza. They don't have to mix their segments together.
Anime is for kids and teenagers, not for adults.

Stranger Things was better than all anime of last 5 years.

is there even a coke/heroin problem in jap-land?
all of that is heavily regulated there i would imagine.

not as the main theme of the show though. sure there are mentionings of said drugs but its not used as a plot device.
