I'll use my vive to just lay there and watch shows sometimes. Warning: if you're laying down for 2+ hours and try to get up, you're head is gonna be out of whack for the next couple minutes. I eventually convinced myself I was actually sitting straight up in a theater. Spent the next half hour feeling like I was gonna fall over.

You really gotta play with the settings though. Because you really only have a good clear view staring dead straight, flicking your eyes to the bottom of the screen to read subs isn't perfect. The subs are always blurry unless you move the virtual screen up a bit.

ok maybe you didnt know this but in order to get the stereoscopic effect in vr. the movie needs to be proyected from 2 different angles (one in each eye).
if you want to watch anime in vr. studios would need to draw two times the same episode, same scene different angle. Im pretty sure is not going to happen.
for 3d it would be more feasible.

now if you are asking proyecting anime in vr in a "home theater" it looks like if you have a chinese shitty proyector even at 2k.

I already tried it but I didnt like it. I have the gear vr and seting up the interface was a pain in the ass, maybe I didnt know how to configure it but there is no stereoscopic view. it needs some work at least for the poorfags like me. but I am happy with the porn meanwhile. I was trying with honey select but since most of the models are more like normal persons it didnt get my attention.I havent tried custom maid though.
the only one I really want to play in vr is I am the hero, from ilusion. that would be glorious.

Tried to with Vive and whirlgig, suprise suprise its not that great. Monitor is more suited for watching shit since you don't have to deal with flaws associated with the optics and lower pixels per degree.

You can loose a lot of detail by watching an emulated screen which doesn't make full use of the display. Once the resolution is high enough and the device is not encumbering then it might be worth watching stuff on.

In its current state its only fun to watch watch streams with other people.

Only thing that matters is what is the best CPU you can afford and 8350 almost gets comparable results in games with intel CPUs cheaper than 150 dollars, while getting way better reults in editing. OP you've posted this at the right time. I have a VR device. I have multiple actually, since it's part of my job. I've tried it, and to be honest, watching anime in it just isn't great. The resolution isn't high enough, and things look grainy because of the screens. However, it looks really cool still for a moment as you can watch on a big screen, AND, the resolution is good enough that you can imagine how it will be in a few years. It will be good, my friend. Just not yet. Patience is key.

Haven't had that issue with software implemented properly on the HTC Vive.

Didn't have that issue but mostly since I take breaks and play it in short sessions since it gets tiring, I get eye strain from a monitors more often since I use that for longer periods.

Hasn't happened to me to date, at worst I'd feel a little dizzy with games that aggressively use artificial locomotion and stop immediately.

Feels natural for roomscale, I have a disdain for controller or mouse and in VR. I'd only use props such as wheel, hotas, or joystick for seated applications.

That is the case with Oculus and PSVR only, SteamVR would allow you to use HMDs from some competitors such as the oculus DK2 and CV1. OSVR has been working on their own API to allow some degree compatability between multiple devices.

Hard to say, we'll wait and see. The hardware in its current state is not going to achieve mainstream adoption any time soon. History is littered with technological failures and niche products, some of which managed to achieve mainstream adoption.

I do this and it's pretty comfy. There is nothing like being able to lie down on your back watching anime on a 150" screen on your ceiling.
You've to deal with the lower resolution though. I wouldn't watch BDs with nice quality this way but it's good enough for the shitty CR/HS encodes.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't have these problems. Once I used my Rift for about 8 hours straight and the only reason I took it off was because I got worried it would be bad for my eyes.
