Hey friends. I am developing a little javascript thingy to place people on the political compass. I'm doing this because I've found that existing surveys are not very good and I believe I can do better. Phase 1 of my project is to gather information on a variety of issues from people who are confident of where they lie on the left-right and libertarian-authoritarian spectrums, so that I can make sure my app produces accurate results. This is where you may come in.
I have two survey's setup on surveymonkey with a few questions you can answer if you would like to assist in this project. Note that Sup Forums thinks these links are spam so you must remove the X's:
Or if you'd rather not respond to the surveys, you can always respond here with answers to the following questions:
On a scale of 0-100, with 0 being extreme-left, 50 being center, and 100 being extreme-right, where would you place yourself? How do you feel about promiscuity? How do you feel about homosexuality? How do you feel about abortion? How do you feel about transgenderism? How do you feel about recreational drug use, drinking and smoking?

On a scale of 0-100, with 0 being extreme-libertarian, 50 being center, and 100 being extreme-authoritarian, where would you place yourself? What is the highest percentage of the total income generated by a society that a government should be able to take? Do you think there is any viable alternative to a government? Please explain. What do you think is the best way of ensuring that everyone in a society has access to decent healthcare? What do you think is the best way of ensuring that consumers know which products are safe, and which are unsafe? What do you think is the best way of ensuring that everyone in a society can attain a decent education? What do you think is the best way of ensuring that property rights are not violated? Do you think it's fair and desirable to take money from people who make good decisions and give it to people who make bad decisions? What do you think is the best way of ensuring another country doesn't invade your society? What is your background in economics?
And feel free to discuss the question posed in the title. All of this will help greatly and hopefully incite an interesting discussion.

Sargon and I look a lot alike, so every time I see this particular headshot, I get a little twinge like, "what's a picture of me doing on the---oh it's just Sargon"
Christopher Davis
On scale 1, I put myself at a 75-85 On scale 2, I put myself at a 87-97

the existence of the "political spectrum" is a left-wing phenomena which implies that people who have political opinions other than divine king worship are somehow legitimate
Carter Jackson
i would but myself as a 0 people should be allowed to do whatever they want with they own bodys. drugs, prostitution you name it. or i guess im not a 100% 0 since im not for abortions.

The only dichotmony that matters in politics is inequality vs equality

and you would place it where? and why?
Charles Perry
>natsoc >top right most section of the blue quadrant just because of nationalism? seriously, at best natsoc is center right. the top right corner is reserved for MONARCHISM you fucking idiot.
Gabriel Taylor
why do you believe natsoc is centrist?
Isaiah Cruz
err center right sorry.. why center right?
Isaiah Turner
on a 2 axis political compass x-axis is concerned primarily with economic policies, and nationalism/tradition as a distant secondary influence. the further right you go, the less control a central authority has over the market, the further left you go, the more control you have. natsoc and fascism seeks to strike a balance, no matter how tenuous it is.
Angel Ross
It's centre something. Current year politics are insanely far to the left, you sure as hell can't be both right-wing and anti-monarchist.
Thomas Rogers
It absolutely is center right. Vertically center because natsoc promotes individual liberties while being authoritarian on degeneracy. Right of center for upholding tradition, but not that far right of center economically.
Aaron Nguyen
nazis were a socialists movement.
oh it's the jewish bankers. oh it's the businessmen. oh what the hell, it's all of them! a class war like in murica now
violence always starts from the left never from right
Cameron Barnes
National Socialism is a mix of free markets and controlled, a mix of individual freedom and collectivism etc. That means it should be in the absolute center. Sargon is far too anti-collective, and pro-free market to be anywhere near the center.

id counter that by saying only irrational violence starts from the left, but i cant for the life of me think of any instances of the right starting anything. best i can come up with is pinochet, and even then that was mostly a retaliation.

That Nazi flag is on the wrong side of the blue sport.

Cant take kids away from marxists if there are no marxists with children. So yes, first comes marxists, then comes Pinochet.

So you believe that left-right is indicative of economic views? I beg to differ. I believe what differentiates the left from the right is their position on social issues, such as promiscuity, abortion, etc... This is the KEY difference and most responses to the survey have confirmed this. All self-identified right-wingers have harsh views on these social issues, and left-wingers have the opposite views.
Views on economics are represented by the libertarian-authoritarian spectrum. If you want government controlled healthcare, education, health & safety guidelines, etc... guess what? You're quite authoritarian. If you want the free market to handle these things, you're more on the libertarian side. These are economic issues which have nothing to do with left vs right.
Perhaps you would like to elaborate on what separates the left from the right if you disagree with my assessment. I would say that natsoc should be quite far right due to natsocs position on abortion, promiscuity, and other social issues, and should be quite authoritarian due to "nationalized" healthcare, education, regulations on the free market, etc... I see nothing wrong with placing it in the top right but I'm willing to be convinced if you can offer some compelling arguments.
