I watch and read both, but Sup Forums is a huge piece of shit.

Basically your pic.

The nips, for all of their faults, couldn't give less of a fuck about political correctness or self-censorship.

I prefer the art style of anime and manga

This, I don't want politics in my media keep that shit separate. Or at least be smart about it.

What makes you think I chose? I'm a no life dweeb who likes all fiction, fag.

What the fuck now I love anime

The unchanging status quo pissed me off compared to what I was getting from anime and manga.

Also, considering what Marvel's become now in the comics division and how shitty all the three major networks are, that was a good idea

I think that panel might be a joke aimed at PC culture though

Not sure, I never liked comics. I want to say they're childish but I'm aware manga isn't exactly high literature.

I like comics when they don't take themselves too seriously but for every book with a zombie shogun hulk fighting classic avengers b team there are 5 that have teens poorly written by 40 year old men trying to push an agenda.

Plus shared universe doesn't work nearly as well when writers don't actually read any of the source material they are bringing in a character from and completely miss everything about them.

Western comic books are nothing but saturated garbage with plot so old that not even the writers can remember all of it, they play with continuity whenever they feel like and are constantly shoving in their garbage opinions
One of the biggest reasons I dropped comics was when I realized that Spider-man was fucking dead and the only thing left in Marvel was a corpse to get raped every month or so then reset back to status quo
I honestly consider anyone who reads coimcs from the big two as a hobby to be retarded and probably a big fucking dipshit.

It's so prevalent in comics now it's legitimately hard to tell if it's parody or not.

It isn't
If you have read any recent marvel you would know that there is some awful writers shoving in this garbage
Like Whor

It's easier to find good anyme than good comics and cartoons.
In cartoon they also do things like making a character have a no kill vow just to milk money off of villains. Basically, they care even less about quality and consistency than anime/manga.

Western comics and cartoons were pretty much episodic and "villain of the day" shows while most of animu had more continous, elaborate and developing plot like DBZ or other shit airing on main TV.

Also western superhero fiction is too schematic and similar to each other, animu & mango were more varied when it comes to characters and settings.

I'd rather have one inconsistent author than one hundred and fifty nine ones with different perspectives.

The Superman vs Goku death battle is difficult to determine because Superman has hundreds of different incarnations that they just combine together to create their own version, while there is definitely a single SSJBx10 Goku that existed at one point.

Holy shit nigger, I'm glad I'm never got into that shit.

Well I could walk into a bookstore and find the first volume of everything, and anime was on every saturday night. Oh and manga was cheaper. Comics had these bigass hardcovers and omnibuses and ongoing series that already started on the shelf for the new releases. Japanese stuff was just easier to get a hold of compared to western comics.

consistency

I never got into comics when i was a kid because there was no consistency with them. The plot lines, what is and isn't canon, art style, even the characters themselves can be completely different depending on who is writing/drawing them.

Manga doesnt have that problem.

Western degeneracy drove me away from western media ages ago. Never looked back, also I use to watch a lot of anime back when I was younger thinking it was western. Didn't know DBZ was Japanese till I was like 10.

I like a good amount of both, I do like some mainstream titles from current DC like Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps or Aqua Man but I'm mostly an independent guy when it comes to American comics. I just don't think mainstream titles interest me enough because of how much they pander SJW bullshit.

Also how come there's no manga selling for as much as Superman's first appearance? I've probably not done my research on this but I've always been interested in what rare manga sells in Japan like how American collectors usually collect on first appearances of said characters.

Most anime/manga has consistence at drawing, linear coherent plot and eventually it ends. I know many comics that isn't capeshit has it too, but you barely can find something worth reading amongst them even if you want it.

Fucking Sup Forums what a fucking joke.
The only comic thats right wing is punisher right?

>instead of
They are the same thing. It's stupid to be interested in "one" and not "the other" when they are one entity. No one reads only Russian novels or listens to only Scandanavian music unless they live there.
>self-censorship
Shonen Jump alone proves that wrong.

Probably because manga comes in big phonebooks and not individual comics. Not to mention how they often reprint it anyway, so it's less of a big deal.

first off, the system and market
manga are self contained in the way that there isn't a character/series going on for decades constantly rewritten, redrawn, and published various ways
more variety (especially the shitload that the west can't read due to no translations or scans)
print media still thrives for the most part in japan
comic industry is shitty with big companies holding control of most things
comic fan base is worse and indirectly or directly effects quality of comics
politics

My only problem is if superheroes are the ONLY thing they read, but good luck finding anything anyone has heard of that doesn't involve super powers in some way. Animation is better in that it's more varied, but it has a much lower peak if you exclude theatrical films (which are a much, MUCH higher peak if you include them).

i hate super heroes and the superhero comic artstyle and theres little else to offer

>Shonen Jump alone proves that wrong.

>imports

Because manga can end and is self contained. It's a huge fuming pain to read a continuing story that jumps into another story that if u want to fully understand I have to jump into another set of stories to see my story and have a conclusion.
Imagine if in the middle of a one piece arc, I had to read chapters of toriko, dragon ball, to love ru, and maybe even aanga not from shounen jump in order to see the story I wanted to see completed. It's a fuming stupid and terrible device for story telling.

>Manga doesnt have that problem.

There are way way way way more variety and anime and manga.

Sorry but I need more than just capeshit.

nah if you don't go about capeshit and marvel/dc poopwriting you got some really good things, like transmetropolitan or the boys.
I read comics too but only the good one, i can't stand the hypocrisy of murica censorship. Nips are less cringy about hypocrisy.

Weekly Shonen Jump, you moron.

>earthquake threads littering the catalog
>now this
Fuck off back to OP
And do your fucking job, hotpockets

Not a fan of comics for the same reason I don't care for manga, many don't know when to end. I'm also a retard that will start hating the original of something if I dislike a spinoff or something. But just like not every anime is Naruto, not every comic is Batman. I prefer live action over anime 99% of the time, there's only about 20ish anime I'd put with my favourite movies and shows.

Because a new shitty writer can't show up after the old one gets put on another book and completely ruin characters that I like.

>make general statement
>Sup Forumsutist posts 1 specific example

never change Sup Forums

American Comics
>dozens of artists write chapters of the same story using the same characters and use their characters to lecture us on diversity

Manga/other comics
>one artist writes dozens of unique stories with different characters and use their stories to teach us about diversity

>original novel
>adaptations
And?

How is a penis a "gender construct" ?

If that is a real panel. I'm glad I stay away from comics in general.

Difference is that the shitty stuff for Japan gets eventually canned or ignored since the market is so large

Shitty comics get pushed to the forefront because of bad publisher intervention.

If more comics were like pic related and not Female Thor punching the patriarchy it'd be a good medium

I read both

You poor fool.

I can't believe My Little Pony made fun of this shit instead. It's like I'm on Bizarro Earth or something.

youtu.be/Q32b3ATXvmY?t=2m

We all know Haruhi is garbage though.

Theoretically you could have a species where the ayy lmao with the penis does all the womens work, would it be more accurate to call them male, female, or something else.

In english words like male and female carry social as well as biological meaning.

>1 specific example
>What is Dragon Ball?
>What is Evangelion?
>What is Madoka Magica?
>What is Cowboy Bebop?
>What is Yu-Gi-Oh!?
>What is Digimon?
>What is Gundam?
>What is Macross?
>What is .hack?
>What is Clannad?
>What is Monogatari?
>What is Blood?
>What is Boogiepop?
>What is Death Note?
>What is The Guin Saga?
>What is Kagerou Daze?
>What is Strawberry Panic!?
There are your examples. These are just off the top of my head.
Also, thanks for admitting that your post was a garbage generalization.
There is not a single adaptation--anime, manga, or video game--that does not have original content written or approved by Tanigawa, and yes, the novels reference them. But that's besides the point--pointing out they're adaptations is a non-sequitar. The problem was that plot, characters, art, and continuity are inconsistent between different works. Adaptations that make significant changes are exactly the same in that regard.

>In english words like male and female carry social as well as biological meaning
Anyone who would argue that it's a "social construct" would argue against men and women having different roles.

>BUNCH
>DISCIPLINE
>DIE
>KILL
>IS
EMPHASIS is another reason i don't like comics.

shows tend to have a clear ending, instead of being milked forever with alternate universes/timelines or some other nonsense. Also there aren't multiple people writing the story, or picking up someone else's story.

How does this get written and how does anyone believe it

People don't dress a way because they "feel like it." There's a reason anyone has a certain wardrobe, for comfort or for style, there's a purpose.

>comics
Because I really hate the fact that you need to read different character stories to get the full universe
>cartoons
I like cartoons

It's not. You'd be a fool to believe it is.

Nope. You can have adaptations and spin-offs all you want, but that doesn't mean that original somehow being written/drawn by dozens of different writers/artists. Unlike comics, especially capeshit, that is a bumbling mess of inconsistent writing and art with no end in sight.

You have no idea how shit Marvel is right now
"UNSOLICITED OPINIONS ON ISRAEL?!?!?"

Dragon ball z and outlaw star was better than the wb run of Batman cartoon and Spider-Man and xmen cartoons ended. I didn't switch on purpose. It was a lack of interesting western super hero cartoons. I guess Batman beyond was ok but the xmen reboot was shit. And teen titans was gay as fuck.

I find it silly that they keep rebooting characters and universes, it also made the barrier of entry seem huge to me.
I like seeing X writer's interpretation of batman and whatnot but I'd rather read a fresh concept .
Yep, same here. When I got into anime I was looking for wish-fulfillment and power fantasies and I can't self insert into super heroes

Fate and type-Moon would be a better example
Also when I was little the super hero shows that aired were reruns of 90's cartoons and I found anime easier on the eyes(also prettier girls)

Yes, and the same applies to comic adaptations of comics. Every single example you're thinking of was originally a standalone work written and drawn by the same people. To summarize, that's a double standard. I agree with your conclusion (western comics are a bumbling mess), but your premise if faulty.
Also,
>not saging the thread

>tfw they turn older cartoons into newer comics with shitty art, writers, edge, politics, and/or their way of thinking

There was never a comic or western cartoon as good as Princess Mononoke.

I like both actually, but I kinda dumped monthly comics for hardcover finished volumes.
And I don't watch cartoons anymore since most of them went way too "left" for my tastes.

Comics for young adults aren't really such a big thing in Yuroland. I honestly wouldn't know where to get a spider man comic.

I read some Independent comics back in the day and they could range from okay to pretty good; hell, I still have a copy of Starchild/Two-Penny Inn sitting on my shelf. I really enjoyed the artistic style the guy had, and the writing wasn't too bad. You also had just terrible SHIT you knew was bad but would read despite yourself like Evil Ernie/Lady Death/Vampirella. Or, fuck, I don't even remember the name of it anymore, but it was about an assassin guild of dimension-traveling elves that had frequent smut in it and a edgy as fuck protagonist. No, it wasn't in Heavy Metal, it was a proper comic.

But Marvel and DC Comics were always entry-level shit. They just managed to become even worse by turning into SJW trashbins. It's like setting fire to a giant pile of oily garbage. You had some groups of artists trying to break free of the suits, like than Jim Lee guy who founded Image Comics? Or was it MacFarlane and his Spawn comics that founded it? I forget. But I think that those guys realized a few years later they'd rather just have money and sold back out to DC.

less niggers

I like both. Both of them have their fair amount of shit and stupid crap, but both also have their gems.

Just a matter of weeding through the shit to find something you enjoy.

I miss when Sup Forums was a decent board and not tumblr lite.

What went wrong?

Never read comics, but I used to watch the cartoons as a kid. The biggest problem with capeshit is the boring powers/use of powers. They rarely try to branch out to anything imaginitive, plus the characters are incredibly inconsistent in how "powerful" they are.
From the few pages of modern comics I've seen, I wouldn't go anywhere near capeshit comics, especially after seeing that speech by a villain that summed up a lot of people's problems with PC culture then had him do typical villain shit just to prove that his point was "wrong".

Cute girls

Image is still around. Lee, Liefeld, and MacFarlane all went in it together
Liefeld still somehow gets work from Marvel and DC, but the other guys don't

Who's your favorite superhero Sup Forums?

I like Spiderman.

Plastic Man seems cool. Shame he never got that Tom Kenny cartoon.

don't really have a favorite but moon knight is cool

niggerwood

Aquaman

I really hate how Aquaman is seen as a joke by the populace.

He literally beats the shit out of Cthulhu and friends every year to prevent them taking over the world, furthermore, he can even control them. He's badass as hell.

You pretty much retarded if you think that. Also your
>originally a standalone work written and drawn by the same people
starting point was a long ago, doesn't required to read or know about it at all, had "villain of the issue" plot, and mutated into current endless multiverse/reboot bullshit without coherent continuant plot pretty fast. All because comic corporations want to milk the same heroes over and over again and afraid of anything new. Well, same as their audience I guess, but still.

People always say Sup Forums is the worst, but cape comics are usually not as large as they could be, and the threads are usually about the same as Dragon Ball threads on here (not that I read/watch either of those). Not that I would defend either board. I'm particularly fond of Alan Moore (his stuff has been pretty awful for awhile, though--looking at you, Neonomicon), Jill Thompson, Indie comics like Maus and Persepolis. There are even a couple webcomic artists I follow. Lauren Faust and Craig McCracken are my favorite for western animation, though obviously Disney and Pixar are consistently impressive. I still lean towards Japanese stuff; there's a lot more variance. Western comics are dominated by DC/Marvel, and IDW and Dark Horse, two of the most popular non-hero publishers, do mostly adaptations and spin-offs. Western TV animation is almost never anything technically or artistically impressive because anyone good gets immediately drafted by a film studio and forced to get into CG (which is what any animator would dream of); I can expect more interesting and more high-quality works from Japanese TV animation, even if their films are a bit behind. It should be obvious why I read more Japanese comics.

Spider-Man is adorable in the suit. My favorite is Ant-Man.

>Liking a wife beater

>How does this get written and how does anyone believe it
Written by liberals, read by liberals. It's a circlejerk.

I've only watched the movies but Spiderman and the Punisher are cool. Some of the more minor villains are all right, like Scarecrow from Batman.

which is why thats selling more than the old versions of thor. makes you think

... Which doesn't detract from original, consistent, probably-well-written work, just like the Japanese equivalents. Like I said, that's a double standard. I'm not denying western comics needs to die and create SOMETHING, ANYTHING outside of superhero agenda-pushing, but your argument sucks.

>It's selling well so it's good!
Are you really pulling that card lad?

What? They're comfy to wear under my shirt.

Because Nips weren't afraid to break boundaries and use the drawn medium to go over the top with the concept of fictional worlds, whereas western stuff just kinda stuck to familiar worlds and just gave people unique powers or used talking animals.

Except now the tables have turned and western stuff is beginning to take hints from older anime and explore fantasy a bit more, while anime ends up being slice of life moe and "high school kids with superpowers" rehashed garbage.

Hollywood and Marvel.

I remember some Sup Forumsfag wanted to talk about old Thor comics but the thread was filled with tumblrtards shipping the real life Hollywood Actor playing Thor with Loki.

So ultimately, Sup Forums cares more about real life actors these days instead of the 2D comic character.

It doesn't help that cape comics are bringing in too much real life politics so the blur between comics and the average political rag is becoming too murky.

Like they even copy and paste celebrities real life faces as superheroes now.

The Hollywood dicksucking is too much.

Honestly I started with anime/manga because the only form of popular western stuff is aimed at guys, compare that to anime/manga where you have plenty of things aimed at girls. How guys look helps a lot, like Saint Seiya is a huge part of why I started watching anime.

>couldn't give less of a fuck about political correctness or self-censorsh
>censors their own porn aimed to adults over a dumb ass tradition/law

enjoy it while it lasts, times are changin.

Why is this thread still here?

2020 might fuck everything up

"Originals" were the same incoherent bullshit with no consistency, plot or end.

It's a shame because the early Marvel movies used to be good. The whole thing got too big for it's own good and it's has even brought the "cinematic universe" cancer everyone in Hollywood wants to copy now. I'm amazed the movie industry hasn't imploded from over-saturation yet.

The logic card? Yes. Unless you're gonna pull the " Nobody buys my edgy crap so it must be good" card.

Both manga and comics are based off entertainment. the more poeple want to be entertained by something, the more people buy it

capeshit writing is abominable and overly self-aware, the series are bogged down by over a half century of retarded lore, the plots constantly build up epic happenings that go nowhere and eventually revert to the status quo. The action is usually shitty. I like some non-cape stuff but the mainstream is nothing but fossilized turds.

I didn't. I still consume both. Though, for whatever reason, I read more western comics than I do manga, but I watch more anime than I do western cartoons.

However, I did have to abandon Sup Forums during the Great Feminism Shitstorms. The board seems damaged beyond all repair now. I went there recently and it's like 50% Steven Universe threads.

Serious question, is 2020 your first Olympic? this sort of huge events NEVER change things.

How many different iteration of Spiderman/Batman/Superman/xmen are there? At least couple dozens?
