Christianity General: Fulfilling The Law; Edition

ITT: All pious Christians and those with an interest in the faith are welcome to discuss all aspects of, and questions relating to - Christianity!

Today I wanted to address something I've seen in many of the previous /cg/ threads as I'm sure you likely have also - that is; when people spam a handful of verses taken out of context, meant to convince Christianons and those lurking that, normally at least - Jesus was/is a Jew, and that Christianity is some type of Jewish plot to accomplish various things.

I will make two points regarding this:

1) Some of them are actually on the right path, but theres a lot more than that - to it!

Based Jesus was born into the Judean tribe, to show the world the true light of God, to work miracles (often healing the sick and caring for the needy) in order to display to the world by his actions that he actually IS god, for who else could do these things, and then to ultimately triumph over death while making the ultimate sacrifice for OUR sins, yours and mine in an act of love towards mankind.

Anyway, a number of individuals whom we call ((((((((((Pharisees)))))))))) said to themselves

"This man is too nice!"

"We were expecting a conqueror, this man is healing the blind"

"NO! BAD GOY! SLAY OUR ENEMIES YOU NAZARENE!! REEEEEEEEEEE"

Anyway, these people REALLY disliked Jesus, despite his love towards anyone who would open their heart towards him (Which you can still do, today, BTW) and his worldly wisdom which still guides us through life today, and his many good works here on earth.

They were so bootyblasted about the man that they ultimately had him crucified, playing right into the hands of God (This was the plan all along), while also fulfilling all the prophesies about him and his coming that were written in the old Testament, and simultaneously also showing the world how vile, and evil, and generally terrible the BAD Judeans (those who did not say "Wow, that was a genuine miracle! This man truly is the son of God!" and follow him, aka the first Christians) were.

These "holdouts" against Jesus became what we think of as Jews.

The second point that I would like to make, regards one of the most commonly mis-quoted verses used to falsely attack Christianity, and that is Matthew 5:17 which states:

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them”

This is what some would consider “Jewish Law” or Mosaic Law, aka the Law of Moses, because it dates to the Old Testament, and then they incorrectly assume that Jesus actually came to change nothing - he was incarnate for the lulz quite frankly, and that his existence meant absolutely nothing to the existing “Jewish” law.

This is HIGHLY incorrect. Please consider the following:

1) When this is “misquoted”, almost every time the part of the verse concerning the prophets is removed. I’ve actually seen it posted “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law, but rather to fulfill it”.

Rule number one of bible study is to distrust anyone who changes bible verses while trying to convince you of something, even if doing it is just a ((((((((((((((((harmless mistake))))))))))))))))

2) Jesus fulfills the law on multiple occasions, saying in the “Sermon on the Mount” that “You have heard it said to/not to________, but I say [statement expanding on what was said in the old testament, thus fulfilling what was said earlier and not challenging or destroying it]”. For example:

Matthew 5:27:

27“You have heard that it was said,‘You shall not commit adultery.’28But I say to you thateveryone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

3) Jesus’ life was predicted beforehand in the Old Testament by a number of different prophets, which include:

Micah 5:2 foretold of Jesus’ birthplace:

>“But you, BethlehemEphrathah, though you are small among the clans[a]of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be rulerover Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

Isaiah 7:14 foretold that Jesus would be born of a Virgin (Mary)

>“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

These are two examples of fulfilled prophecies, while there are many more, I will limit this post to these two for the sake of time and attention spans, mine included.

Regardless, you can see through the above that God’s New Testament with man was as prophesied, that Jesus IS the man foretold in the prophets (which is often ((((((left out)))))) of the misquoted scripture), and how based Jesus fulfilled the Law while also separating us, and himself and all of his followers from what we know as the Jews.

This is Orthodox user with a friendly reminder to read the chapter to any scripture which doesn’t sound “right” to you at first, when you see it quoted on the internet. God bless.

I hope this was helpful, and I’ll be here for a little while tonight to discuss anything that you all would like to.

Why did God give me autism

Good concise but clear explanation. As friendly advice, I recommend addressing topic by presenting the mosaic covenant, explaining that it's the only conditional covenant, and pointing out the OT prophecies where the New Covenant replaces it via Jesus

Post Christchan comics

how was your yesterday mass /cg/?
yesterday it was our group's turn to organize it, turned out very well

Because based Jesus died for our sins and his wisdom gave us all a roadmap for a comfy, wholesome, happy life.

I had some very brave teachers in middle/high school risk their careers to introduce some of us kids to the word of God. I'll do my best to spread his blessings to my bros on here.

Friendly reminder that God's love doesnt "get old", like things you buy for happiness, casual sex, etc.

Its made for eternity, and unlike most things on this world whose value is determined by scarcity, Jesus' love is the most precious thing in the entire world and its available to everyone, for free

Thoughts on NFP? I get that it's kind of the same as condoms and birth control, in that it prevents pregnancy, but I don't wanna only fuck my wife only when we want a kid out of it.

Thanks user. I'm always looking for topics to discuss in these threads, and in the last several some guy came along with a boatload of teenage angst incarnate into misquoted scripture taken out of context.

I've made 2-3 of these threads and have several left to go.

Its not that I'm upset by him or anything - I know where hes coming from as I used to be an atheist myself - but he basically handed us all a concise list of all the general atheist "philosophies" and thus gave me a lot of good thread starting ideas as well.

I would encourage you guys to make these threads yourselves also, of all places we have a quite vibrant Christian community here which we should all try to further if we can.

I'm thinking about pacifism and non-violence in the next one, what with my /k/ommando past and all...

Epic fail user, when I read your post and replied to it in I first read it as "Why did YOU (me) give you autism?)

Sorry dude, I took that wrong, I've had a long day and am getting tired. My bad, I wasnt trying to speak for god in my reply.

I dont know actually, I'd never heard of this before your post, my friend.

I will say that:

>Most Christians dont view birth control as a big problem (not saying that they should or shouldnt)

>Many Christians simply have massive families, some at my church have 6 or 7 nice white children, EACH.

It absolutely warms my heart to see.

My church (Orthodox) had a wonderful service, more crowded than usual, many families. It was comfy as it could be

It's basically only fucking on certain days in the woman's cycle when she can't get pregnant, but I think I'm just gonna cross that bridge when I get to it, I've already resolved to stay a virgin until marriage, but I'm 19 and that's gonna be a while

Well good for you! Thats really the thing to do. The relationship I'm in now - we both came from secular backgrounds, so both her and I have had multiple partners before eachother, and before we found the church. Observations:

1) It CAN work, but sex to us will never be as special or as fully intended, where all of our experience is with eachother

2) We both had adventurous sex lives before eachother. I was into PUA for a while, etc and we BOTH genuinely wish that we'de waited. Its interesting that ((((((((((society)))))))))) says that waiting is overrated, married sex where you've both only known eachother is terrible, etc, but the couples we know at church are so happy together, and also we both feel like we were mislead both by (((((((((((((((((pop culture))))))))))))))) and secular sex ed classes.

3. For those lurking, porn absolutely trashes both your brain itself AND causes LASTING damage to your ability to have normal, healthy sex, aka between two married people as God intended. Its a Jewish trick, through and through.

user, I'm genuinely happy for you. Dont let ((((((((((((anyone)))))))))))) change your mind on this dude.

Yeah I got really lucky somehow. Fooled around with chicks before I got redpilled, but something in me never wanted to go all the way

Serious question.

Good for you man, you're lucky. I never understood and of this as a kid in ((((((school)))))). Just wanted to be like the cool kids, now I'll never have the relationship God fully intended.

Oh well, I'm just happy and thankful to have what I've found before it was too late for me.

Friendly reminder that many of us are going to /make it/, I hope and pray.

Hey, serious question guys - I've heard from a number of anons that (((they))) are trying to "Force God's hand", especially regarding the Sup Forums prophecy.

Thoughts on this?

Pic very related.

In your opinion, what has God made your purpose in life? I'm still trying to find mine.

I've been saved nearly my whole life, but after reading Ecclesiastes and my first girlfriend breaking up with me a month ago I think I'm really in a mid life crisis...and I'm only 22

Well the Old Testament was Hebrew. Not jew.
The New Testament was written by the very first Christians. Not Jew.
Jesus was a Jew, but meant to lead them, and they killed Him.
There's no Jewery in Christianity and Christians support Jews sometimes due to dogma.

...

LA ILAHA ILLALLAH. ASHHADA ANNA MUHAMMAD RASSULILLAH

Thats a good question, honestly I'm still trying to find out. And I think sometimes that all we can do is our best - to live as sin free as possible by making a genuine attempt to, by treating eachother as we would like to be treated, and living in a way to be able to give an account for the good and bad things we've done - on the day of Judgement which as a friendly reminder to us all - IS inescapable.

I think that if we do these things, that God's plan would reveal itself to us.

8 years ago I was a completely alone kid from a broken home with no plans, goals, or aspirations.

This turned to a cringy edgelord atheist, and later into an interest in firearms at which point I became a /k/ommando (still am), which lead me to Sup Forums around 2015.

Now I'm an Orthodoxanon talking about Christ with my fellow anons.

I never would've been able to think up something this insane and unpredictable if I'd tried to, years ago.

But I think if we read the bible, understand it (Books by Blessed Theophylact, an Orthodox writer from, IIRC the 600's-800s), and honestly do our best to live by it, errything else will fall into place...

Its only natural to have moments of doubt - such is almost a requirement in faith that must be freely chosen and accepted. Some people will pray "Lord Jesus I believe; please help with my unbelief" in low moments, or use the Jesus Prayer "Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" repeated multiple times to drive away vein or evil thoughts...

Heres something else to consider, about God's plan for a person:

pravmir.com/does-god-have-a-plan-for-your-life/

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell"

Matthew 10:28

How do I know if I am saved?

I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior and through him we are absolved of our sins.

However, part of me thinks that somewhere I am doubting myself - Am I just thinking it over and over again to "feel" better? Is it that easy to get into heaven? Am I the type of person who only became a believer because I started to learn about biblical evidence of the existence of Jesus Christ and that's not really faith is antithetical to requiring proof. Am I a strong believer? I'm doubting myself and that makes me think that maybe that doubt is proof that I am not saved?

I don't know what to think...

Even the disciples had doubts user.

>So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”

It's normal, and natural. In the end you have to rely on the spirit.

Thank you. I appreciate that.
