Two month ago everyone was hyped about the AFD
Merkels party CDU "won" the election (they lost about 7-8%) compared to 2013 election.
AFD got around 13% and is now the third largest party in parliament.
Now everyone thinks Merkel is chancellor since September and the shit goes on for 4 whole years.... BUT
It's not the case.
In order to rule in Germany you need 50% of the popular vote.
With only around 33% the CDU needs another party to form a coalition.
But here It begins to get interesting. The SPD which was the juniorpartner from 2013- 2017 said: LOL NOPE. The only other way is to form a coalition with the Greens and the Liberals (not liberals like in the us they are neo-liberals) But they fucked up the exploratory talks.
Most likely there will be a new election in a few weeks and the AFD will gain votes for sure. It's a fact that's why all the other partys want to prevent a new election
