I’ll try to summarize because lots of disinformation is going on.
The definition of net neutrality, as in the original discussion, is that Internet Service Providers (as in ADSL, cable and mobile internet providers) would not be allowed to discriminate content based on origin or destination. Any byte entering or exiting their network should be treated the same, regardless if video, audio or text That on itself would be a good thing. However, as usual, that’s not what the left measures are dealing with. What they proposed has nothing to do with getting this done and the real effect is nasty and with consequences that can’t be undone
Obama decided to deal by regulation what should be dealt with by legislation. The unelected bureaucrats of the federal agency are the definition of deep state: they outlast most if not all elected representatives of the people and have barely to no oversight The regulation he propose was not
> ISPs can’t discriminate based on traffic
That would be acceptable, short and on point. No, his measure was
> The FCC gets a regulatory mandate over the ISP with the ability to enforce its regulations and directives
Up until 2015 the Internet was under the mandate of the FTC, which deals exclusively with the technical aspects of the matters under its jurisdiction. They regulate, for instance, which frequency mobile phones are allowed to operate, the max power its radio transmitters can generate, etc. Obama tried to move it to the FCC for a simple reason
> THE FCC REGULATES CONTENT, NOT ONLY TECHNICAL ASPECTS
For instance, it’s the FCC who fined the Super Bowl broadcasters for the “Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction”. It’s because of their regulation that most OTA channels implemented the 7 seconds delay on live transmission to allow for curses to be censored
All in all this particular move by Obama has nothing to do with “Net Neutrality” but with putting the Internet under the jurisdiction of an agency known to censor

Y'ALL NIGGERS BE POSTING IN A JUDGE MOORE RALLY THREAD
So to recap (updated from last thread): >FCC good for licensing, bad for content regulating >FTC taking over, good for monopoly-breaking >ISPs want to charge content providers more for using most bandwidth >Content providers want ISPs to eat the costs >It will end up on your bill if you use the services, but not if you don't (with NN repealed) >Removing NN, along with monopoly-breaking, makes it easier for new ISPs to form >NN gives more power to censor-happy leftists (Google, Netflix, etc.) Is that everything?
I sure as shit would save money with the bottom plan. Would cut the social media out on day 1.

>bottom one is cheaper (54.96) >forcing me to pay for things I don't need >will lead to heavy censorship >pushed by The Deep State from the "shadows" >sheeps are defending it like the best thing since birth of Marx and screech how immoral alternative is and how the big bad ISP's will just use it to steal your hard earned money Is NN literally communism?
Thomas Diaz
Reminder that all of the net neutrality propaganda perfectly mirrors the anti-fracking and anti-pipelines propaganda. It is literal Russian propaganda designed to stifle and bankrupt the American economy.
The arguments also follow the same logic as muh free healthcare (which is already stifling our economy)- >the internet should be a free public utility and no money should be made or >corporations are evil and Jewish
Don’t be the dumb leftist who buys into self-hating Russian propaganda.
David Cook
Do you have those dimensions in SI units?

Isn't this literally free market? If i don't like my shitty ISP charging too much for their shitty services i can just switch over to another cheaper one, all hail competition.

TRUMP WANTS TO REVIVE TAY
>In June, the U.S. Immigrant and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released a letter saying that the agency was searching for someone to design a machine-learning algorithm to automate information gathering about immigrants and determine whether it can be used to prosecute them or deny them entry to the country.
>Last week a group of 54 scientists and technologists who specialize in machine learning wrote a letter rebuking ICE, explaining that there’s no way to create a computer program that could “provide reliable or objective assessment of the traits that ICE seeks to measure.”
People are being lied to and are dumb/lazy so they fall for it. Most aren't autists who demand broofs for everything, Macedonia. If everyone was like a poster here, the right would have solid power everywhere in the world.

I’ll be damned, you are right. FTC is the anti Trust arm of the telecommunications. An even more adequate agency to implement Net Neutrity, a competition matter and not a content matter

>In Sweden, then, the technological revolution of the twentieth century was exceptionally favored. It had come to a country with little political feeling, but a love of bureaucracy, where the population submitted to an hierarchical order of things and accepted autocratic rule. They were well adapted to a centralized administration, and had uniform attitudes controlled by a monolithic educational system. They were steeped in a collective mentality, and the individual was at a discount. They were completely materialistic, and unencumbered by spiritual baggage. Culturally undeveloped they accepted what was put before them, and adopted whatever was new. Other people's wars benefited them commercially, but they escaped hostilities themselves. Geographically and intellectually isolated, they were spared conflicting influences from abroad, subject only to one trend at a time. The situation might have been tailor-made for the system that was to come. I got onto this page on accident but funny how it caught up with what me and the Swede from the last thread were talking about.

The argument is that the Internet is exactly one thing: a network for shuffling packets around. If you try to specify which packets get blocked or throttled, you break all kinds of assumptions about the Internet and make it harder for startups to compete by limiting their access to higher tiers.
On the other hand, no ISP is going to be dumb enough to block a top 200 site like Sup Forums unless its users pay extra for a porn filter.
