I don't care what it looks like, if it was made before 2007, I ain't watching it.

I already said this in another thread but I seriously think that as Sup Forums goes the way of Sup Forums that it's getting time to consider making /ar/ to discuss older anime the redditors don't now about because it isn't shown on netflix.

My point proven. Christ there's a thread on /wsr/ right now asking who Haruhi Suzumiya is and you just KNOW he is an Sup Forums poster that comes here to post about JoJo and One Punch Man all day.

You can't make me watch old animes

>ponyhomo detected

how does it feel to be worth less than an actual turd?

That is when it is time to nuke the Sup Forums servers.

To be fair, JoJo is much better than Haruhi

not the fanbase

>there's even a millisecond of 3D rendering used outside of intros/outros or direct references to video games

fucking dropped

...

I downloaded this image from Sup Forums reaction images online

I'm sorry not everyone likes your shitty robots from the 80s.

robots are the best

>want to watch Welcome to the NHK
>only available in 480p
I'm fine with "old" stuff (like pre-1990) but the lower quality standards make me less motivated to start watching them.

yeah it's honestly really sad, I like JoJo and OPM as much as the next NEET but do people really need to circle jerk about it so much. It's sad that many great stories like Lupin and Hajime no Ippo will be overlooked because it's old to look at some fan service or creatively bankrupt bullshit cause it sells more...that's my rant call me a fag

this

>people think that Lupin series 1 isn't the best.

what are you saying, mine is 720p

Lupin is episodic bullshit and Ippo should have ended decades ago

>greentext only means quoting

You imply funny things. get out newfag and lurk 2 years before posting nexttime

>want to experience a visual medium
>visual medium looks unappealing
>don't watch visual medium
>this is a bad thing

I don't follow.

I avoided for years because I thought the 3rd part of lupin the 3rd meant it was the third installation of a series, and was trying to find the 1st and 2nd.

that was a fucking 10/10 episode.

S2 SOON

Old and unappealing aren't the same thing.

I can understand not wanting to watch something cause it's long like Lupin, and i also agree that Ippo's hiatuses are fucking unbearable (although it has too many great fights for me to hate) but for Instance something like Monster was fucking fantastic the only thing i could hate it for was being slow to start.

It was released in 2006 though, when the standards were lower. As far as I can tell it's only in 480p, unless the dub has a higher quality?

The sound quality is a big turn off in a lot of old anime as well. It is very bad when music stops and there is barely any ambience, and all you can hear is the low qualiy(on a technical level) voices breaking the silence, I really dislike that.

ehh if you want a good boxing manga just read Ashita no Joe it's better than Ippo

hmm

>try to watch aot
>shitty 3D with bad tracking
>try to watch fma Brotherhood
>shitty 3D character renders
>excited for ajinn and berserk animes
>they're both 3D
>try to watch Evangelion regurgitations
>shitty, lifeless 3D models for Evas

What the fuck is wrong with anime studios nowadays

>ponyhomos literally so triggered they make a thread about it on /qa/ to complain and be triggered with other ponyhomos

The op and anyone who agrees with them should be banned with the message "keep /mlp/ in /mlp/"

Monster is better read than watched.

>150392335
the same friend recommended me it who recommended Ippo but i couldn't get into as well as i did with Ippo

hmmm

>for Instance something like Monster was fucking fantastic
I enjoyed Monster, but felt like it meandered a bit too much around the halfway point. The few anime series where I felt that the extreme length was justified were Ashita no Joe, LoGH, and Initial D.

2015 Lupin should be enough to get people interested in classic Lupin. Though I have to admit it's a series that's only gotten better the longer it's gone on. Looking forward to The Blood Spray of Goemon Ishikawa next year!

yes and thats a valid reason

do you watch black and white silent films?
do you listen to 1830 era folk song?
do you bathe in a metal bucket filled with crab water?
do you eat dried beef with goat innards?

Some people can enjoy things of previous generations while others simply arent interested due to years of advancements and improvements

I thought the anime was great. might try to check the source material

>Cherrypicking

looks like shit

exception to the rule

Another retard who thinks upscaling produces more detail.

Guess this image must be from a native 4K anime, right?

>greentext
you are the newfag.

nope, it's raw.
get the dvd rip one.

with anime based on long running manga it's usually best to just read the manga, the anime usually drops in quality or it's not a compete adaptation

I'm all about aesthetics, I've only been into anime for the last month, so anything that looks like Yu-gi-oh or older gets passed off. I didn't like the looks of Code Geass as well, anything with lewd lolis however goes straight up the list.

>There are people on Sup Forums who won't watch an anime if it "looks old"

Most of the "millenials" have different values and ethics (lack of) than the people before them.

truly you are the epitome of Sup Forums. keep up the good work faggot and dont give up spreading cancer in this board.

Eat shit idiot. NHK was produced digitally in SD, and that's the end of it.

A cartoonishly ugly character != an unappealing anime

I think the 70's are only my problem. The other day I tried to watch the first season of Lupin (Supposedly the best according to Sup Forums) and the first episodes were just barely watchable. I thought it wasm't just the art, but then you see the castle of cagliostro that's only like 7 years in difference and you get the same themes with Lupin but the art is so good that you can actually enjoy it. Unless you have some real tight nostalgia googles old anime is just unbearable.

this thread sucks since it's just bitching about the kind of person on Sup Forums with a so funny old anime pic so i was going to shill my friend's stream but he was mean to me so i'm not going to now

the un/v/ification has started with the general and template genocide

>Some people can enjoy things of previous generations while others simply arent interested due to years of advancements and improvements
Even if the overwhelming majority of anime is digitally produced nowadays, it's still done by creating static images that end up resembling a moving one. Often times these improvements and advancements end up being negligible. For example:

All of my favorite tropes and narratives don't come into existence until after 2000, honestly.
I only enjoy old /m/ shows pre-2000

What kind of archetypes are you into? I enjoy watching retro anime because there's plenty of tomboys.

Mostly Slice of Life, especially ones that lead more towards iyashikei. Those don't come about until after Japan's economic crash in the 90s.
I also love shows with great banter such as Joshiraku, Lucky Star, or Arakawa Under the Bridge, but I just haven't found any of those types of shows pre-2000 yet.

>JoJo is much better than Haruhi
>shounenshit
>being better

Something like Maison Ikkoku or Urusei Yatsura might fall under that category.

>Haruhi is much better than JoJo
>light novel
>being bettter

>Maison Ikkoku
That looks pretty good. There's even a well seeded Nyaa torrent of the manga raws. Sweet.

fucking Bleach is better than Haruhi m8

D4 Princess is completely nuts.

Tell me about it. Last two episode were a kick in the balls.

Pictured: the writers after the death of the editor mid-production.

Doris makes some great faces, at least.

no money + laziness

How come the green jacket series look more "new" and is better animated than the whole red and pink jacket series?

I'd say there are less than ten good anime series made after 2006

I do watch black and white films because there's nothing inherently wrong with them. It's a case by case deal.

Oldest anime I've seen and I thought it was good. Got repetitive sometimes.

Shit taste. As expected of an illiterate phoneposter.

Do we have to start this debate again? We all know the people who chose not to watch things because it looks "old" are literal underage children posting on this site.

>favorite tropes and narratives don't come into existence until after 2000
And what shitty fucking tropes are those?

...

People said the same thing about digital.

>unironically liking lucky stars
wtf is wrong with you

Why the fuck is Megatron there?

Lucky Star is a masterpiece, pal.

Confirmed for willful ignorance.

I'd consider myself a fan of Lupin. Enjoyed movies, tv, etc. Working through Part II slowly right now.
Lupin Part 1 is the only show to ever put me to sleep. It's not a bad show, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely not the best. I'm a really big fan of Fujiko Mine's art style, but Part IV is my favorite.

when I was a kid, I anything that was before the 90's, or just old looking, would lose my attention instantly. now that i'm older, i know that cel animation is pretty fucking great, but in a way i still like clean digital stuff a bit more.

"no"

>but Part IV is my favorite

I like you. Part IV is my favourite too! I wish more people talked about it.

Did it ever occur to you that that person might be a new anime fan or not an anime fan at all?

My favorite anime are basedon my favorite manga, which were mid 90~early 10s. The mangaka that wrote them were working much longer, though.

Old Lupin is hotter. How could people not like the old series?

The day Sup Forums stops appreciating old games like Ocarina of Time is the day it will be on Sup Forums's level.

It looks "bad" because you're not used to it. A preference for 3dpigdisgusting over traditional animation is the easiest way to date someone. Anime has more people like that than other mediums because, unlike film, it has a high turnover rate. Teenagers, who don't listen to or watch anything made prior to their time, get into it as a phase and just as quickly get out.

I'd be really happy if it came to Toonami, just to get more people watching.

Don't get me wrong, I love the old series a great deal, part IV just had so many good episodes that I fell in love with it. I'm not big into a lot of newer anime, so it ticked a lot of the right boxes for me.

He's banned all the time he just keeps making threads

Part 4 is shit. It's too stale.

Didn't feel stale at all to me.

And they were fucking right when they said it. Take a look at the art and animation of a digitally animated early 2000s anime. It's pure dreck just like everyone at the time was saying it was. Just because it's better now doesn't invalidate the fact that it was shit to begin with. The same can be said for the current state of CGI in an average tv anime.

Correct, but I wouldn't blame anyone picking Part 4

why won't anyone animate like this? i just want some decent dynamics of struggle and bone shattering shit.

Monster says hello.

>that anime you want to see but dont have subs

youtube.com/watch?v=ttndwyst-Xo
I've only been able to find the first 4 episodes, but holy shit, I love this.

liking digital animation better is pure autism

and that's not an insult, cel is full of messy frames, grain, variable shading, and lots of other things. if you watch it in high enough resolution you can easily pick apart the cels from the backgrounds

for normal humans, that's fine. you recognize animation is a representative medium and the little faults give it a loving sort of human character that's just as appreciable as the actual work itself.

digital is clean, simple, brightly colored, and predictable, it's perfect entertainment for people on the autism spectrum, who would recoil in existential horror if the continuity of their escapism is shattered in any way.

I'll watch an anime usually just because it is old, within reason. I'm not about to plop down to watch a WMT though, just too much time investment for usually slow builds. Though with many of those shows getting BluRays, it's much more tolerable.
