Hokuto no Ken

In this thread, I'm going to translate a Hokuto no Ken one-shot by Yukito titled RedBlue, focusing on everyone's favorite twin jobbers of the Five Chariots, Hyui and Shuren. It was first published online on the Web Comic Zenyon website on October 24, 2014 and published in print as a backup story in Hokuto no Ken Ichigo Aji Vol. 3.

I posted translations of the previous Hokuto one-shots here on Sup Forums, which have been archived in the following links.

>It can be turned into a blade that can can cut anything.

Rihaku
>Truly impressive
Sensei
>Oh... It's you.
>Lord Rihaku, did you came here for something?
Rihaku
>No reason in particular, just passing through.
>By the way, is that child...the one you called Hyui?
>It's terrifying that a child like him could could control the winds.
>The ability to destroy your opponent without touching him...
>The tradition of Fujinken, the Fist of the Benevolent Wind, seems to be safe in his hands...

Sensei
>Indeed... With such talents he could perhaps surpass all the previous Fujinken masters.
>Perhaps he could even rival the Roku Seiken, the six master Nanto branches.
>It's such a pity that the other students are afraid of him because of his talents.
>Because of that he's alone without any friends or equal peers.
>If this goes on, his wind will never surpass the great wall.
>You cannot learn the secrets of this style if you don't have anyone to protect.

Rihaku
>I wonder if there's something we could do about that
Sensei
>?

Rihaku
>Perhaps he will find his path with the guidance of his star.
Sensei
>...There's nothing more that I would like to wish.
>If you're not in a hurry to leave, perhaps you could spend the night here.

Guard 1
>The strongest guy?
>Did you hear that? Hah hah hah hah. It seems this boy doesn't know who's he's talking to.
Guard 2
>Go home if you don't want to get hurt.
Friend
>I knew this was a bad idea, Shuren. If our instructor finds out, he'll expel us.
Shuren
>It's only a problem if you lose.
Guard 1
>I guess I have to ask you the hard way then.
Shuren
>I'll take on both of you at the same time.
Guard
>Why you brat!

Sensei
>What's the commotion?
Shuren
>Fujinken... Such an awesome name for a lousy countryside school.
>Don't tell me these bums were the best your school has to offer.
>Who is this kid?

Guard
>H-Hyui...

Shuren
>"Hyui" is it? Could he be the best student this school offers. I don't think so.

Shuren's friend
>Let's go home already!

Shuren
>Might as well leave... There's nothing to do here anyway.
Hyui
>Wait!
Sensei
>Lord Rihaku...
Rihaku
>It's alright with you, is it? That boy is Shuren, a student of the Enrinken school, the Fist of Flaming Phosphorous. He's pretty close to Hyui's age.
>Perhaps he's the rival that Hyui desperately needed.
Sensei
>Then that means that child was destined to come here.
Rihaku
>I wonder about that.
>I, Rihaku, feel that these two have potential to destroy a great ominous star in the future.

Shuren
>Since you're a kid, I'll go easy on you.
Hyui
>Enough of your bragging.
Shuren
>HIYAH!
Hyui
>HI!
>YAH!
Shuren
>RYAH

Shuren
>Not bad... I guess I have to be serious.
Hyui
>Twuit
Sensei
>Hyui, why are you holding back? Why haven't you used your Fujinken techniques?
Hyui
>I won't waste my secret techniques on someone like him.
Shuren
>This has been a good workout, but I'm here to win!
>No more holding back now!
>HAAAH!

Shuren's friend
>That stance... It's an Enrinken technique!
>Don't push yourself, Shuren!

Hyui
>HAH!

Shuren
>You might have already noticed it but...
>I covered your body with phosphorus during our last exchange of blows.

Shuren
>EAT THIS!
BOGON!
Sensei
>Hyui!
DOSATSU
Shuren
>Game-Set-Match.
>Unless he leaps off the ground, he will burn to death.
>Let's go home!
Friend
>Shuren!
Shuren
>Huh!?

Shuren
>What the... THE FLAMES ARE SURROUNDING HIM?
>THEY'RE SPINNING AROUND!

Hyui
>Your flames are powerless against the wind!

Shuren
>Interesting...
>I guess we have to see if that's the case.
>HERE I COME!
>ENSHO BAKUMETSU KEN, THE EXPLODING FISTS OF FLAMING HANDS
>NUOOH!
>!?
>The flames... They're being pushed back!

Well let's give it a try.

Hyui
>I told it's no use
>Your flames can never penetrate my wind barrier!!
>And now it will be...
>...cut you like a blade!
Friend
>It's no use, Shuren. Your flames will never reach him.
>His skills and techniques are too good.

Shuren
>As long as my flesh and bones are still intact...

Sensei
>That boy's hands... He engulfed them in flames!
>Such an obsession with victory.

Shuren
>These flames serve nourishment to my body!
>Try extinguishing them if you can!

Shuren
>WHOA! SŌEN HISHŌ KEN! (Double Flame Flying Fist)
Hyui
>FŪZAN RESSHŌ (Wind Slicing Fury Palm)

Shuren
>GAHA!
>WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?
Rihaku
>If things had go on, one of you might had been seriously injured.
>I had to mettle in this match.
Shuren
>Nonsense! I was going to win!
Hyui
>What!?
Rihaku
>I wonder about that... Shuren's vigor did push Hyui.
>When he went on the assault, didn't you take a half step back?
>I bet he never gave it all before until he fought against you, Shuren.
Shuren
>Tit... He was a worthy adversary indeed.
>Well... This was a good exercise.
>I'll train hard until I can defeat you in one hand next time.

Shuren
>The name's Shuren. I'll look forward to our rematch.
>Uhh... You said your name was Hyui, right?

Hyui
>Shu..ren...

Sensei
>Wind and Fire...
>If those two become one, they'll become a firestorm that will burn down a thousand soldiers...

Rihaku
>Indeed... Those two kids are destined for something great
>Perhaps even greater than the six Nanto stars....
>Those two will make history if they follow their stars...

Raoh
>Foolish one. Identify yourself!
Hyui
>I am Hyui of the Wind, one of the Five Chariot Stars!
>Your Hokuto fist of death threatens our motherly star of Nanto!
>The time has come for you to be eliminated!
>HAAH!
Raoh
>NUUH!

Hyui
>Uarrggh!
Shuren
>Ken-oh! You shall pay for what you did to my brotherly star Hyui!
>I shall reduce you and your ambitions to ahses, Ken-oh!
Raoh
>Nuoh!
CRACK!

Toh
>FATHER!
>Hyui and then Shuren were both defeated by the King of Fist!!
Rihaku
>....
Toh
>Father?
Rihaku
>....

>This chapter's secret character is the boy who accompanies Shuren.
>He grows up to be the crying soldier in the Crimson Guard.

That was a bitterly ironic ending (then again, the last few ones ended very similarly). Only three more to go. Next time will be Fudoh's origin story.
