There were multiple scenes of Misato and Kaji in an elevator throughout the show, the scene immediately before this was a guard handing Misato a gun, and Kaji acted like he recognized whoever stepped in.

He was shown to be meeting with informants not related to nerv too like that lady at the warehouse, recognizing somebody is not a tell that it was someone close to him, the fact that they were meeting at an industrial site with a giant fan rather than at misato's place or at a hotel is a tell that it wasn't her.

If I remember correctly it's because she's shown to be given back her gun and then the killing happens, it's a loaded juxtaposition and it's understandable why people rushing through the show could get it wrong, it's why it's better to take your time with the show, or watch it more than once, but a lot of people do speed through it.

It doesn't help, either, that the franchise itself has an apparent history of deliberately fucking with people asking for more detail. Like, Chronicle was sold as a 30 part build-a-encyclopedia endorsed by Gainax and Khara, creator approved at every stage, and it included a timeline for the series that claimed flashbacks occurred in real time. As in Shinji asks how Gendou burned his hands and then Gendou burns his hands.

You're wrong, both ways can be good or bad depending on the execution.
Being somebody closes to intensify the drama of the act is the obvious choice.
Misato killing kaji would give you some shock value initially but afterwards it would be shit because you realize that doesn't make any sense, Misato's loyalty to nerv was unraveling at that point, why would she kill for them? And what reason could she possibly have to do it herself? They were partners in crime at that point.
Meanwhile being some random hitman makes sense because he juggled so many loyalties it didin't matter who did it in the end. He was in so deep in shit that the bullet could have come from any camp.

I'd say that Israfel lacks the distinctiveness of Zeruel. Zeruel sort of straddles the line between generic and interesting.

Also while the Israfel fight was cool it was in no way nearly as iconic as the Zeruel fight. That entire sequence is on another level.

Most folding chairs actually end in 4 legs while the instrumentality chair has a tubular base, another detail is that the folding mechanism is over the seat height while others might have it under, if I'm going to spend money for a dumb thing like this it has to be fully accurate.

The quest for that chair is trickier than it looks at first glance. but the design is so consistent whenever it shows up that it probably wasn't made up from somebody's recollections of what a folding chair must look, it probably was a model that they had lying around and used as reference, maybe from some long gone japanese manufacturer.

Depends where you're looking, too. Rebuild originals are dog shit but redesign was particularly kind to Zeruel, she went from anthropomorphic mattress to some kind of starfish phantom.

Arael had an AT Field so powerful that it didn't even need to come down from orbit to subdue the Evas, the only reason they used the lance is because otherwise it would have been completely unstoppable. The lance makes any angel die immediately, by the way.

Your giant 3 eyed land shitter would have also been instantly bitchslapped by the Lance. The Lance is the one-hit KO god weapon of the show. The fact that they had to resort to a weapon of that level of power and importance to SEELE shows how desperate the battle against Arael was.

In fact, if not for NERV's use of the Lance the old fags at SEELE would probably have been less pissed off and less likely to turn a simple assault into a massacre.

I'm guessing Nerv HQ just assumed that Seele didn't actually manage to install the S2 organs properly since the last time they tried it created a giant crater. The only person who would have known would have been Gendo since they stopped trusting Fuyutsuki by that point. Gendo WANTED Asuka to fail so that instrumentality could happen, so having the S2 organs actually work was a completely unforeseen circumstance.

As someone who recently rewatched NGE and Rebuild, Ramiel and Zeruel improved in rebuild, Sachiel stayed the same, and everything else was loaded with pointless CG.

Ramiel felt really clunky in the original but he had a much more terrifying presence in rebuild with the shapeshifting and crystal shit.
