I think I understand now what the whole Net Neutrality thing is about. This isn't about freedom vs. slavery. This isn't about good vs. evil. This is literally corporation vs. corporation.
ISPs want more money. They want NN repealed so they can get more money. They target people with propaganda in order to herd them against NN. Likewise, corporations like Google and Amazon do not want NN because they also want more money. So they target people with propaganda to get them to rally for NN.
except one outcome has corporations able to decide what information you can see on the internet, and the other, like, doesn't? don't turn this into some idiotic "both sides are the same!" thing.
Blake Nelson
>commie memeflag opinion discarded
Ethan Taylor
>this is what leftyfags actually believe
Joseph Morales
Both sides already do this though. ISPs could throttle site traffic, but Google has already shown to censor what they deem problematic under NN.
Owen Turner
>Says this while being a commie
Samuel Long
Well yeah. This is about whether you like Facebook or Verizon more.
That's it.
Colton Brown
How do I vote neither?
Charles Gray
wait I think we all know how to vote neither
Kevin Brown
"censorship already happens so it doesn't matter if it's made much easier to happen" isn't a very good argument to be honest
Andrew Myers
Take the Unabomber Pill.
Jace Wilson
it's just a flag bro
Daniel Gomez
>youtube hogs bandwidth without paying >censors users because fuck them they can afford it The end of net neutrality will be the end of youtube cuckery.
Angel Ramirez
No. Its teacher and worker.
Ayden Jackson
IF U NO NET NOOTRALITY THERE WILL B INTERNET LOOT BOXES LOL
Austin Gutierrez
So the question is: what model could the internet have where both types of companies lose?
Luke Perry
Why would repealing NN stop Google from doing that? The only result would be them paying the ISPs what is essentially protection money while business continues as usual for them. You're basically getting fucked in the ass by two corporations at once instead of only getting fucked in the ass by Google.
Owen Hughes
Net Neutrality is what's keeping sites from hogging bandwidth, not enabling it. It's also the advertisers who are the cause of youtube censorship. Only real solution would be to put the internet in the hands of the people and not the corporate.
Jason Lewis
Can someone really, really redpill us on Net Neutrality? This is an incredibly confusing topic, and from what I've seen 50% each of NatSocs and Commies don't know who to support. And I don't know which side of NN to support out of spite for the other side.
Dominic Allen
You prefer one flavor of censorship over another. The internet needs to be nuked and replaced
Jace Taylor
If the new Damon Lindlehoff Watchmen is bad I'm going to be mad as heck
Jordan Price
Now you know that non-agrarian America was a mistake.
Asher Edwards
This baka
Jose Lewis
This is now a ted thread post ted pills
Aaron Rogers
this is what the whole controversy has seemed like
Nathaniel Richardson
>don't turn this into some idiotic "both sides are the same!" thing.
Spoken like a true piece of shit Communist cuck faggot. Hang yourself.
Benjamin Wright
It's basically what's stopping the ISPs from giving you a 'fast lane' and a 'hyperspeed lane', as they call it. Except the so-called hyperspeed lane is what you have already.
Guess what the 'fast lane' is.
The net neutrality laws only began a few years back, but the concept's been around for ages and began being enforced as law after Comcast and Verizon started some fuckery, most notably when Comcast throttled access to Netflix to force them into signing a deal.
Jeremiah Hill
You, the consumer, are going to get fucked, regardless. Congratulations.
There's your pill.
Easton Lee
>muh poor netflix Oh poor baby had to let his fuller house buffer for 5 seconds before watching it.
Tyler Taylor
They hog it because it's free, genius.
Joseph Richardson
I'm just using them as an example of how the ISPs operated before net neutrality was enforced by law. Removing the law essentially allows an ISP to hold websites at ransom unless they pay up, and could be used to censor things they don't like. If, say, the President got into a fight with Comcast...
...they could help the Democrats kick him out of power next election by rendering Trump supporting sites unusably slow.
Chase Cooper
>Trump might not get elected Nice bargaining faggot. Look at my flag. I literally don't give a fuck. I stopped supporting him after the bombing of Syria.
William Foster
always do the opposite of what reddit wants
Hunter Peterson
Money is all that matters when everybody has to pay. Niggers are only being little bitches because they have their bandwidth subsidized by everybody else. The internet won't slow down, they'll only make the giants pay more money.
Justin Hughes
Fuck NN, it’s for statist-loving ducks who suck government regulatory dick.
Isaiah Rogers
Enjoy getting fucked over even more by Comcast, I guess.
Jose Gomez
Not about this
Not about that
Not even close
What are you even saying
Net neutrality is all and only about whether you think data (in the form of bits) should be viewed as a common carrier like the postal service, or not.
If it is, then the provider cannot charge you depending on the contents of the bits (whether they are 1's or 0's or a combination thereof, e.g. if the IP field of the sender is NETFLIX's IP). They can only charge you on the amount you use (think weight of the package for postal services). It also means they cannot refuse to give service to a specific sender or receiver without good reason. They are also liable for the proper delivery of the package without tampering.
Dominic Jones
>people unironically think this They're squeezing money out of corporations that use tons of bandwidth.
Ian Morris
Read between the lines, you need to go deeper
Jayden Phillips
Net neutrality has nothing to do with money.
Its about who seees what knowledge and ideas.
The worker bees are Reddit+, Sup Forums- is the place where only truth matters, the post if you will.
Jayden Sullivan
Will do
Logan Williams
Are you really so naive that you think they won't use the chance to make you pay out the ass, as well?
Adrian Lopez
we're getting fucked either way might as well rip up (((NN))) and try out without it
Henry Diaz
They already do, schmuck. The free market will dictate customer pricing, not muh porn.
Henry Bailey
>ignore all the points >focus on muh trump you shills are fucking bad at your job
Christopher Cox
>The free market will dictate customer pricing, not muh porn. There is no free market for ISP in many, many areas. Try and keep up, mong.
Grayson Harris
He's not a shill, he's a leaf. Shitposting is in his blood.
Jordan Smith
You talk like a bitch.
Parker Howard
I think speed is the key thing, without NN, they could make certain things slow and prioritise mainstream stuff. So basically Sup Forums would take ages to load. Essentially making the net back to tv with official 'channels' of fast data.
Brayden Price
A very good point. There's only so much bandwidth to go around - making Google faster if they pay up means something else is going to suffer.
Colton Martinez
if repealing NN would kill social media and google, then I am all for it. I can survive without the internet
Justin Nguyen
...
Brandon Nelson
This 1 million times.
Andrew Reyes
The main target isn't Sup Forums, it's streaming services (like netflix) and filesharing that eat up a shitload of bandwidth. Netflix now uses something like 20% of all internet bandwidth in the US and pays fuck all for infrastructure.
Jose Garcia
And do you think that'll change? Or, rather, if the ISPs now have monetary incentive, do you think that they won't let Netflix use, say, 50% of the bandwidth?
Wyatt Morgan
Redpill me on net neutrality.
Juan Powell
They're not slowing shit down, they're making the companies that use most of it pay more. If they have to pay more, they'll be more customer friendly because now they have to rely on good service to survive instead of gibs.
Ryan Flores
Reason podcast is well in favor of King Pajeet on this. Check it out if you want more non-reddit sources to form an opinion.
Jaxson Morales
Well, based on that screenshot we should be doing everything we can to get rid of it.
Jaxson Cruz
I'm saying the ISPs want to make deals with netflix, pay us or be throttled.
Landon White
I hate ISPs more so fuck them.
Dylan Martin
B-but nothing was censored before! Thats because Verizon wasnt able to openly be asses about doing it. The FCC had a rule that got challenged in court by Verizon in 2010 that PREVENTED ISPs from THROTTLEING OR BLOCKING WEBSITES. Verizon won the case, only on the margins that telecommunications services needed to be reclassified as a utility (Title II) in order for a rule like that to be upheld. This led to the massive NN debate that got us the rules in 2015. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verizon_Communications_Inc._v._FCC_(2014) Also: Comcast Corp. v. FCC 2007 In 2007, Free Prenss, Public Knowledge, and the FCC filed a complaint against Comcast's Internet service. Several subscribers complained/(and)The Commission believed that Comcast had "significantly impeded consumers' ability to access the content and use the applications of their choice"--Comcast complied with this Order but petitioned for a review and PRESENTED SEVERAL OBJECTIONS-in 2008, Comcast amended their Acceptable Usage Policy and announced a new bandwidth-throttling plan. ISPs have slowly over the years been eating away at laws that protect against throttling and them not being able to control what content you see. You fools need to realize corporations only care about their own interest In surveys by the American Customer Satisfaction Index, XFINITY has had the lowest customer satisfaction ranking of any company or government in the U.S. for year-XFINITY’s online forums are full of pages of customers complaining of throttling, especially on upstream speeds. Time Warner Cable has come under fire for throttling YouTube videos, an issue they defended by explaining video buffering is “the way the Internet works. Cox has a history of throttling their Internet during congested periods. In the past, they have also set usage limits on broadband accounts, granting more usage to customers who pay for upgraded service. cabletv.com/blog/your-objective-guide-to-internet-throttling/
