After the series picked up in sales and got popular everyone wanted to stick their fingers into the story editors, anime studios even fans. The author ended up fighting alot with the editor and it got so bad the artist was running interference until he got fed up and quit being an artist. The last few volumes, from reading the afterwords, was just a pain to finish you could tell from the story ie; introducing new characters only to drop them the next volume, story arcs just hamfisted and then the final clusterfuck that was the last 2 volumes. The author having Kodaka end up alone in a popular harem was a final "fuck you" to everyone, especially the editor who was pushing for a Sena end even though the author, supposedly, was gonna go for a Rika end.
