MC is a Japanese born military/base brat who hasn't set foot in his home country since he was around two, Now after 13 years and about moving at least a dozen time (Over half of which where in a new country), He comes back to Japan to attend high school

Protagonist has a harem of girls that love him but as the plot develops he loses all of them and they grow to hate him, so he finally ends up alone.

World ends, groups of people are sent back to the beginning of time with their bodies and memories intact. They either become “observers” or “historians” (placeholder name), able to either observe the changing landscapes of the world (similar to the God of the New Testament) or change the outcome of the world (similar to mythological gods or the God of the Old Testament). The show follows both an observer and a historian throughout the entire history of this new Earth. Other notes: observers are able to influence the world, but not directly. They can “descend” to Earth and attempt to cause the lifeforms (protozoan all the way to highest evolved life) to change the world on their own. Historians can also influence others to shape the world, but prefer to do it themselves. Both observers and historians are immortal, unaging, and unable to be seen unless they want to be. Though the observers and historians are not opposing factions, the two main characters have slightly different ideal visions of the world (neither good nor bad: there’s no real “protagonist” or “antagonist” in the series).

A man with prosthetic limbs and a woman who's had extensive plastic surgery start dating but begin to question whether they really love the other for who they really are.

A teenage boy gets run over by a vehicle...

I was toying with an idea last thread, not really meme tier, but something I kind of want to build up a bit, just as fun theory and ideas

So, girl finds a neat book in a Library, old thing, and begins reading the story, which is about a Elven Sorcerer, master at his craft, and his adventures with his apprentice, and bodyguard. The episode cuts to the Elf guy going to find a fancy runic circle before the Library keeper tells the girl to scram and rent out the book to read it at home. So, she does, and things are alright

At some point, not sure how it'd work, but she ends up awaking in the Sorcerers body, without knowledge of magic/ability, and being a completely different person to the Sorcerer. So, the show is pretty much her doing her best to keep the ruse up, failing miserably, and trying to figure out how to fix the problems of the world and her predicament

Since the Sorcerer is well known, him suddenly losing all ability in magic leads to rivals and kingdoms that feared him to send assassins and people to kill him, leading to problems

Not entirely sure where that idea goes to keep things interesting.

Ultimate deconstruction of anime, famous studio directors and people from the industry are locked in battle to the death, each character is directly related to their real life counterpart i.e urobutcher is a merciless killer, Anno is a depressive mess etc..

Protagonist is a nameless and soul-less soldier who got thrown into the jail for no reason and he starts his journey to conquer the Darkness from there.

Paranoid schizophrenic is isekaid into another world and goes batshit insane.

Harem anime but the protagonist is one of the girls pining for the guy.

Episode 1: She just started working at the company, meets the guy, they hit it off and she falls for him. At the end of the episode they're going for drinks or something with his friends. Turns out they're all girls who are into him.

Series would revolve on her scheming to make them all look bad in his eyes until she's the last one standing.

Call it: "Harem Destruction" or something.

An ancient evil wakes up in the 21st century. A succubus of unprecedented power has awoken and threatens to turn the entire earth into an infinite orgy of debauchery if not contained before she can bring her powers to fruition.

The church immediately dispatches its most powerful paladin to slay her, the youth barely 20 years of age sets off to slay the demon and bring back peace.

Only, rather than finding an evil succubus hellbent on fucking everyone, he discovers that she's actually an ancient fertility goddess and that the reason the church wants her dead is because she clashes with their ideals of femininity and chaste purity. She has no interest in fucking anyone other than her true love, the paladin himself.

In the end the paladin decides to protect her as long as she promises not to use her powers on anyone who doesn't want it, and the two of them open a fertility clinic while secretly battling church officials and actual demons who want to steal her power to corrupt humanity.

Basically: Milfy goddess and uptight virgin paladin help solve the declining birthrate and also the church is evil.

>MC is an otaku NEET loser
>he is obsessed with this one battle harem show
>he likes this one girl who he dubs as the best girl
>and he absolutely despises this one girl who he calls the worst
>he shitposts about how much he hates her on 2ch all day
>one day he somehow wakes up in this shows universe with a academy invite in his hand
>it's the first episode
>knowing the show inside out, he makes it to the battle academy to enroll
>to his horror, everybody in the harem ignores/hates him since they all wants the harem MC's dick
>everybody except the worst girl

A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl’s phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day’s confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

And said phones wind up get hooked up to Sup Forums and similar to the old twitch plays pokemon series, random anons comment (shitpost) directions on how to proceed and end up completely ruining both of there lives

Then gets shot in the head by a 16 year old girl

The year is 2097, 80 years ago, most of the world's religious figures, Zeus, shiva, etc. Revealed themselves to actually be eldritch abominations that feed off of the worship of their followers. Displeased by the downward trend of faith, they drop all pretenses and begin to re-establish the old pantheons by force. Suddenly, at the same time, a mysterious man wielding god like supernatural powers appears. He calls himself the black king, and recruits people to fight in a war against their ancient masters. A 40 year war erupts, where most of the world is destroyed and history is rewritten retroactively, Causing events that should have happened in one place to have happened in another, and such effects. By the end of the war, all of the americas are destroyed, history has been fucked to the point of no return, the old gods have been severely crippled and entombed in remote locations, and the black king has disappeared.

40 years later, a boy in modern day greece is busy serving his matrician. He's a darkminder, a pre-pubescent boy who was made into a eunuch at an early age, and trained in the art of darkminding, which involves dying, and then crawling back to this world from the afterlife in order to gain the power to do so. Basically a half dead soul in a living body, he's able to manipulate the strings of causality to bend and warp fate (Either subtle event manipulation, or outright shows of superpowers, depending on the power used). Darkminders usually serve a matron of sorts. the name depends on the region, but they are universally beautiful women with a strong connection to fate. By interacting with and generally being in proximity to them, Darkminders can absorb the necessary "strings" to use their bestowed powers effectively.

The show examines the darkminders, their association with nature, death, the old gods, and each other, and also the dynamics between them and their matrons, as well as the nature of fate and free will. I think it's a good idea.

MC is high-school student who's kind of a loser. He's pretty much given up on himself and his lonely life, when one day he wakes up with another spirit living in his head. The spirit is one of a distant ancestor who's furious that his only descendant is a spineless coward and relentlessly attempts to fix MC's dysfunctional life in an almost psychopathic way, at times downright possessing MC for a while. Slice-of-life comedy ensues as MC deals with as first person he's met who actually gives a shit about him forces him into new and uncomfortable situations and relationships with others.

This is a story about a girl trapped in the body of a boy and his best friend who was a magical girl until last year. Said friend is a lesbian and wants to be MC's girlfriend but MC is straight and wants to recover her body. Said body was stolen by her old boyfriend, who was a vampire. He wanted to be a cute girl so he swapped bodies with MC.

MC and friend are both second year highschoolers but one day they are abducted by aliens. MC and her friend tried to escape in one of the alien spaceships but they accidentally entered in a time machine instead and went to 100 years ago. The aliens didn't want to leave witnesses alive so they sent an assassination squad to the past in order to kill them. MC and her friend eventually are aware of this danger. For this reason, MC's friend tries to contact with the magical girls of this time period in order to get help. This causes a war between aliens and magical girls.

MC tries to help but she can't because only girls can be magical girls. However, one day she tries to make the ceremony and she succeeds because she has a girl's soul. However, the magical girls doesn't know this and think that the old prophecy about a boy who will become a magical girl became true. According to the legend, those who have sex with that boy can ask for any wish. Now all the magical girls in the world want to fuck MC.

Ok, mr. Dubs. How's this?
Yukiko is a 30-year-old salarywoman who has never had sex before in her life, let alone even kissed a man. One day, on her way from work, she encounters he old high school crush, Yuuji, and after a bit of chatting, they decide to go on a date the next day. On said date, Yukiko gets attacked by another jealous woman, and is hit by an oncoming car, killing her instantly. Or so she thought...

She wakes up in a strange world, with a strange mark on her hand. Wandering aimlessly, Yukiko finds a small town inhabited only by men, who bare a strange resemblance to Yuuji. After investigating further, she determines that she's somehow wound up in an alternate universe where only Yuuji exists! Determined to find a way home, she learns that the mark on her hand is a key to returning home. However, it requires her to have sexual intercourse to work. Yukiko believes she can just have sex with any of the "Yuuji's" that inhabit the world. However, none of them are quite like her old crush. Each one has their own distinct traits and differences, be it physical or personalities. Thus, Yukiko sets out on a journey to find the one, true Yuuji that she loved so many years ago

Huh, I dunno if I'd actually watch it, but I'd certainly keep it in mind as a thing to maybe watch in the future.

Imagine punching somebody so hard that they turned into a door. Then you found out that’s where ALL doors come from, and you got initiated into a murder club that makes doors. The stronger you punch, the better the door. So there are like super strong murderers who punch people into Venetian doors and shit.

Egocide

Suicide has changed a lot from the past days..or has it? Seppuku, to preserve one's honor, makes sense, but does sati? There's was a hindu custom called "sati", where a widow immolates herself on her husband's funeral pyre - there are many interpretations for this one, most common of which is that you can pass on to the afterlife together; to be a "good wife".

Nowadays, "kill yourself" is something constantly used on the internet - kinda harking back to seppuku - "kill yourself in shame". Nobody actually does commit suicide because somebody told them to do it, but there's a worrying trend in the suicide statistics nowadays - the number constantly grows.
Many youngsters kill themselves over nothing serious, over something they could get over if they had just tried - but there is no hope within them.

It's finally time to speak about the anime. 46 people get transported in front of a giant, 20 meter tall venetian door. 23 males, and 23 females. An okinawan muscled loli with a wifebeater, a pink ribbon and a himecut appears in front of them and invites them to head inside, with a gentle, motherly voice. Some try to ask her "where is this?" and "why should we go in"?
>"I told you to come in!".

They enter. The corridor is long, its' walls are transparent - with beautiful fishes of all kinds swimming in it, illuminated by daylight. A really pleasant and peaceful sight. Over time, gradually widens. Eventually, they reach an giant atrium. The loli gets on a pedestal, and tells the men to enter to the corridor to the left, and women, to the right. The loli splits into two, smaller versions of her and guides both.
>"Ano...what about us"?, a group of traps who'd stayed behind, asked.
>she answered "Biological" right before the traps could close their mouths
> (thinking to self...why the fuck is this even a thing?)
A couple of men try to talk to the traps sometime after this, but the Okinawan Loli prevented anybody from talking - so they used body language.

One man made the ol' classic gesture - he made a circle by connecting the tips of his thumb, and the index finger, and moving his other index finger back and forth through it.
The other sent an air kiss in their general direction, and started humping the air. The traps blushed a little, but the loli saved the situation - by explaining why they're here.
>"Y'all jumped from somewhere to kill 'erselves, right?"
This woke some of the men that were in a daze. The men started talking to eachother to confirm - and some were sharing the reasons of why they did it.
>you did commit suicide, and for a very stupid reason, too, right? Welcome to the Afterlife. You're going to pass through 23 trials - ranging from ones that are passed with a simple "yes", to ones that last a whole day. Like in philosophy, there isn't a "true" answer - you're just going to be separated in different groups.

There is not a "main" character in this - everybody's point of view is shown. The anime itself is more centered on the males, though. When the action at the male side becomes stale for the viewers, the female side is going to stir things up a little.

Story is about a Japanese secret agent that is sent throughout the world. His mission is to create dank memes in other countries in order to influence the masses. The results of his dank memes are what causes trump getting elected.

Top Force Projection my man.

Oh, it's Christmas month again!

MC was killed by a drunk dude on JR platform that accidentally bumped into him and pushed him onto the tracks as the train was pulling in

Main character is a feminist named Faust. She fights to be heard by millions, but can't seem to catch a break ... until she marries a man, Crack McCraggin, the governor of her state. She moves into his home with his three daughters, and she teaches them everything she knows. Using this new platform, she spreads her message of love and tolerance. As time passes, she suddenly amasses a large following ... of men. As it turns out, the women of the country are disinterested in anything she has to say! They already have control of their husbands, so what else could they want? As her message becomes more and more persistent amongst society, these women fight against her annoying male followers to erase everything she has ever created! Her very daughters are put down for what they say, and her work is being silenced, even banned from every government board in the country!

At the end of the day, she's left as a has-been known for only the one thing she's ever done. As she slowly loses her fame, her following, and her fantasy, she contemplates whether it was worth all the trouble. By this time, everyone has forgotten about it, and those left supporting her ideals are such outcasts that no one pays them any mind. Even so, the question remains on everyone's mind: is it time to let it go, to allow this speech

The title shall be IWTCIRD: I Want To Call It Real, Dear

I would make some changes. Make it a couple of OVAs, and make that guy (and others like him) shaping history.
The final episode is the Trump thing, and the tiny rise of nationalism in western first-world countries. He nudges the movement a little at the beginning, but is surprised that people have picked it up that fast. And he's especially bewildered by the Trump situation - it worked too perfectly. Picture the japanese agent on a top of a large mountain, gently pushing the snow. Very little time passes, and an avalanche has occured. It's unnatural. Are all of the agents working for the same goal? No! One's handling South Korea, the other is handling the ISIS situation, as well as Syria, and some are working with Germany.

He was only paid to plant seeds of doubt, that would grow into beautiful plants years down the line..but not that. His boss sends him on an extended vacation to Hawaii, to get to understand the american people more.
There, he comes up with an opposing movement - CTR. He needs to sabotage what he has started; but that does not work.

He eventually gets home, and drinks himself stupid after the Trump win.

>>everybody except the worst girl

Oh shit, this is truly a start of building a Harem and Vs Harem action when the bad girls are the protags.

I think I've posted this here before, but I'll post it again.

>A US Army sniper is part of a covert mission when something goes wrong, causing his whole squad to get killed while all he could do was watch through his scope. Unwilling to continue working for the army, he retires and moves to Japan, a country he had been stationed in. He fails to integrate into Japanese society though, leaving him a slight outcast. One day when he goes to a temporary work placement center, he's pulled aside by someone who states they are from a weapons manufacturer, and they're looking for someone to field test their weapon systems. He finds himself then dragged into a secret war between weapon manufacturers, fought by small squads of operators using prototype weaponry decades ahead of what the militaries of the world use. Thrown into this world, he must find out who he can and cannot trust. Along the way he's put into a squad with someone who appears on the outside as a highschool girl, but is in fact more than meets the eye. Can he trust her, and more importantly, can they survive?

Everyday until you like it.

>MC moves to a new town and starts at a new school
>(un)fortunately for the MC his last name is the same as that of a large, well known yakuza family in the area
>this is played for laughs at first, with students assuming that he's the heir to the family and the MC plays along more out of bad luck than anything else, with no one giving him a chance to explain that it's a coincidence
>eventually the yakuza get word that there's someone new in town and he's supposedly part of their family, and they send guys to pick him up
>misunderstandings continue when he's brought before the boss of the family in the town, and in order to keep himself from being killed for impersonating a family member, the MC has to pretend that he really is a part of the mob
>through sheer luck he manages to satisfy their questions about how he is related to them and they welcome him as one of their own
>as the show goes on, he becomes more involved in the yakuza operations and ends up being the thing he was only pretending to be

>the family is tightly woven into the fabric of the town where they are thought of more highly than government and police both
>as such, he earns a great deal of respect (rather than scorn) for being a gang member
>but when corrupt cops decide that the mob hasn't been paying them enough, they try to bring down the family that has lined their pockets and replace them with one they can control
>using underhanded and downright illegal tactics, the police fabricate evidence, pose as yakuza and perpetrate crimes, and do a myriad of other things to spoil the yakuza in the eyes of the townfolk

>despite the fact that he is pretending, and despite the fact that the MC doesn't really have much good to say about gang members, he finds himself oddly attached to his new town and his new 'family', and wholeheartedly takes up their quest to keep the town peaceful, even dirtying his own hands to protect the people who look up to the mob for help

>>MC moves to a new town and starts at a new school
For some reason I read that as "starts a new school" and was just imagining an anime about a principal forced to take a rundown school building an turn it into a new school with a new student body.

Are ideas for available series' sequels allowed?

sure whatever

Reverse isekai. MC is a badass female knight with gorgeous blonde hair who ends up sacrificing herself to kill the demon lord, and respawns in modern-day Japan.

She is amazed by all the peace and prosperity, in comparison with the shithole of a world she used to live in.

We follow her in her quest to become an OL, and as she enjoys the simple things in life, like always being able to stay in touch with people far from you, not dying, and lots and lots of food.

Gotta have some characters:
>some depressed dude with isekai dreams, with whom MC argues about how great this world is, while also sometimes helping him out with his D&D campaign or something like that
>a war veteran with whom MC bonds while drinking
>generic shy cake office lady whom the MC helps improve and advance

Isn't this a Stand?

So Hataraku Maou-sama except Emi is now the protagonist?

Oh man I'd definitely watch this!

>Heroine dies, believes she's being pulled towards the light of the heavens.
>Suddenly loud noise interrupts her reflection of her death and such.
>Turns out the 'heavenly light' was coming from a large truck which she only barely manages to leap out of the way of.
>From there, confusedly tries to figure out what's going on. Is eventually approached by the isekai otaku who like everyone else thus far has mistaken her for a cosplayer.
>Before he can explain what cosplay is and get any sensible answer about who she's trying to look like, chaos ensues as she mistakes a cardboard cutout of a monster from some fantasy game as the real deal and unsheathes her very real sword.
>Isekai guy fails to calm her down before she cuts the monster in half, but when he tried to restrain her and she threw him off, he realized the armor was likewise far more than a costume or prop.
>Through some quick thinking Isekai guy is able to difuse the situation between the confused MC and the freaked out witnesses, allowing him to escape along with the MC, who follows him to his apartment.
>Due to his immense desire to have an Isekai fantasy happen to him, believes what she says and helps her understand her situation as she explains her perspective on the past twelve hours.
>Any plans of getting her sent back or him sent to her world are quickly dispelled due to a variety of factors: Her having to die to be transported here, the fact that her party had also died in the climactic battle and aren't there (and may in fact be here as well) and her hometow was destroyed in typical origin fashion (ie, nothing for her to really get back to, and no known way to get back).
>Also establish the lack of romantic tension between them. Her buff and battle scarred appearance really doesn't mesh with his isekai princess fantasies, and likewise his otaku body and delusions of a fantasy world life doesn't do anything to make him all that admirable.

>Nevertheless, the two become fast friends, having someone to rely on when dealing with the modern world, and having someone to listen to her backstory is of great help, meanwhile the guy gets someone to indulge and dispell his isekai fantasies and helps him appreciate what he has.
>Eventually the MC decides that her goal is to get a job to be able to afford things and acquire a more permanent place to live (Isekai guy is using the cover story of her being "my brother's wife's sister" and is only able to provide temporary shelter less he break the rules of his lease.
>MC decides to strive to become an OL and acquires help on how to do that through Isekai's neighbor across the hall, a young OL herself who has a crush on Isekai guy (entire subplot with them both kinda liking each other, but between her shyness and his not knowing what to talk about beyond Isekai stuff, they haven't had any actual conversations until MC's arrival).
>MC manages to pass her interview awkward though it was, and becomes an OL at a different department than the isekai guy's neighbor.
>The OL in charge of training her is an older woman, a Christmas cake who has a tendency to come on way too strong when pursuing guys, and the two of them hit it off with their mutual straight forward and confident personalities (with the CCOL taking on a bit of a mentor role for her).
>CCOL convinces the MC to go out drinking with her, and upon learning that she's a temporary guest at her "brother-in-law's" house, offers to let her stay at her place as roommates.
>Isekai guy and even his neighbor help her move what stuff she has over to the CCOL's place, and through the CCOL realizing the isekai guy's neighbor (Neighbor Office Lady (NOL) from now on) likes him, the MC, the NOL, and the CCOL become an unlikely trio as the two side characters help the MC get used to life here while giving each other dating advice with their respective crushes.

>MC reveals a lack of interest in dating, and upon brief interrogation from her friends, reveals that she is still looking for someone she had been in love with, while vaguely alluding to one of her travelling companions from her past life and her hopes that she may be reunited with him and the others one day.
>At some point the MC gets a day off on her own and decides to spend it exploring the town and looking for any interesting restaurants, and during this time finds a young highschool delinquent type getting beaten down by two slightly older Yakuza. Upon rescuing him, the HD is surprised by her strength and fighting prowess, and asks her to train him.
>MC finds the HD's motives to be pure enough to accept the role of his mentor, and her days off when out of sync with her coworkers, are often spent giving him advice on how to fight and carry oneself with honor.
>After a brief arc involving the NOL and IG(Isekai Guy) finally going on their first date, and another brief arc where the CCOL finds that her crush isn't interested in her and pursuing someone else, the HD shows up late to his training sessionm having been beaten up much worse than before.
>Turns out HD has a friend who ran into trouble with the Yakuza, and he and his friends have been trying to protect him, which has led to no end of trouble.
>This wouldn't be much of a problem thanks to the MC's training, but it seems the Yakuza is finally throwing more at them than grunts now.
>HD describes the strange guy that beat them all up, and MC suspects by the strange phrase the man had said, as well as the description of his appearance and fighting style, that it might be one of her travelling companions from her world.

>They meet up, and it turns out she was right, Paladin Guy is here too, working for the Yakuza after a misunderstanding upon his arrival led to him getting in trouble with the law. The Yakuza have manipulated him into thinking they're some sort of peace keeping order, and he's working for them to return the favor of them helping him settle in here and not get executed (jailed) for his crime.
>Once things get cleared up, epic fight between the MC and PG against the Yakuza ensues. PG doesn't know where anyone else lives, and IG temporarily takes him in while explaining things and trying to get him settled down somewhere.
>This would end the first season/arc, and later seasons would include more slice of life comedy mixed with finding more members of her party. CCOL will also end up crushing on PG.

That's all I got for now, if anyone wants to use these ideas in a story of theirs, go right ahead! I'll be writing one myself.

Thanks for this idea!

I love it, good stuff. I would personally avoid bringing in MC's love interest and the whole yakuza plot, though.

...

Paladin Guy wouldn't be her love interest, he won't come in til waaay later, but I do want to throw in the rest of the heroes as the series goes on. The yakuza thing didn't feel as solid as the rest, I admit...

I do want to eventually explore, as an occasional mini arc, other fantasy hero type characters appearing in less favorable conditions than the MC, possibly getting into legal trouble or having their naivety taken advantage of. Any ideas on how to best do that while still being able to make things lighthearted again afterwards?

A comedy series in where a Spartan leaps through time and ends up in a future New York/London/Berlin/etc
point of the story--> compare how humanity as progressed from earlier time periods to how possibly our lives will be in the future.

Honestly? I'd just do the same thing most isekais do - pretty much completely ignore the MC's old world life to focus on the new shenannigans. The problem with bringing in the MC's party bit by bit is that you would need to introduce them to a bigger degree than just the opening scene or a few passing words here and there. And then they're stuck being a part of the cast which in my opinion throws the balance off, with the MC suddenly not being the only person that not knows what they're doing. The original idea implies that only the MC died to kill the demon lord, by the way.

But I suppose it depends on the approach - you seem want to explore more characters with various backgrounds, but reading what you wrote up until the yakuza stuff, I see it as a more or less lighthearted thing, smaller in scope, with the main focus being on the MC become an OL and the isekai fan embracing his current life and getting together with the the shy one.

A guy thinks he's in a harem with a bunch of girls at his high school but isn't.

This one is great.

Hmm... My idea behind the old world was originally that the entire party died slaying the villain, and that the Goddess of their world rewarded them for their efforts by taking them to our world (a world without monsters, at least, not in the sense that they're used to).

The other heroes all appeared at the same time as the MC, but scattered about, they mainly all died so the MC wouldn't feel compelled to go back to see them, and so I could use them as a plot device to stir things up when I hit a wall.

I could probably leave out any "them causing serious trouble or being taken advantage of upon entering this world" via "the goddess ensured they would be able to live happily here" as a handwave, but I don't want to use the old world any more than that. Just want to make sure the "what about the old world?" subplots are firmly stamped out, while being able to throw in more rpg hero cliches into the setting and introduce more characters.

I'll eventually run out of slice of life moments between my current small cast, as I only have a few things I can think of to write about off the cuff, but throwing more characters allows ne to explore more ideas and write more relationships happening since I dislike overly long "will they or won't they" moments but also don't know how to write long term romance very well, at least, not as more than a subplot.

It's also why I want to have the MC kinda hoping to spot her love interest from her world, as it gives me an excuse to ensure the MC stays mostly focused on exploring the world and comedy.

Some ideas I have:
Mage type hero turned computer/anime otaku (entered similarly to the MC, but didn't dodge the thankfully much smaller car, spent the entire time until their reveal hospitalized and browsing the internet on a computer the apologetic rich student driver taught him how to use.

Healer/bard (sung hymns to heal) turned opera/theater singer using now powerless hymns as her songs.

SoL featuring Jesus in his secret adolescent years in a high school for deities.

And suddenly I realize (while finished my shift at work) my reasoning behind more characters essentially boiled down to: "I worry about writing five characters well, so I'll make it ten. The more characters there are, the longer I can delay individual haracter development."

I do have a few ideas I wanted to use, but I think that you have a point in that keeping it small and simple is the best way to keep it so it doesn't have moments that feel out of place or starts to get confusing. Rather than work on an ending, I have a tendency to build things up to ridiculous complexity until they become something unmanageable.

With the development of new engines and an alternate power source cars and other vehicles can now achieve 350 kmph with ease. This new speed meant the construction of a super highway that bridges oceans and land, connecting every country in the world. All cars come equipped with a self driving system that ensures drivers do not lose control of their vehicles that links to a central guidance system.

However there are groups of people who disable this system, giving them full control of their vehicles without any steer assistance and who compete in highly illegal races through countries called 'Gate Runs'. Each country has an electronic gate that scans a persons credentials as they pass through so each country keeps track of who is coming in and out. If a person is there illegally the vehicle is shut off and they are apprehended. The illegal races, disconnected form the system, pass through but set off alarms meaning they are not only racing each other but police agencies and even militaries.

Series would follow MC, a Japanese driver who was caught during a Gate Run and recently released from jail. He tries to make it as an average joe but finds life boring without racing (impossible as he is forbidden form operating any vehicle). He discovers his young brother has gotten in deep with the yakuza and to pay off his brothers debt. He gets his hands on his old car, a modified Datsun 240z and enters the World Gate Run, a Gate Run where racers have to run every gate in the world to win. Each episode would follow MC and other racers, switching between high speed racing and slower moments where we learn more about MC and his fellows as they hide from the authorities and do repairs and maintenance on their vehicles.

Music theme would be very old school rock. Bad to the Bone, Paranoid, Highway Star, Detroit Rock City etc (this alone would kill it, licensing would be a nightmare)

MC and others ends up in a new world with no memories.
Ends up they were the NPC of a game and have the choice to go back and become mindless drones or try to live in the real world.

They go back because it was actually better.
