How hard is it to get a job like that? Do you have to be some sort of a sailor?

>12k euros per month
How do taxes work? That's still great though.

Not to hijack the thread, but the captain on my ship makes $190k a year working six months. Jones Act, baby.

What is the most amazing thing you've ever seen while crossing the waters of the world?

How many tons of cocaine were on your particular delivery?

Seems legit. Now fuck off.

Why are you making threads that break the rules? Don't you know that there's a board precisely for this attention whoring?

holy fuck sign me up lol
does he own the ship?

...

Could you just run across the top and jump containers for fun?

How is it to live on the ship?
Considering becoming a captain since it's basicly free here. Seems quite romanticized though

Not the guy you're replying to, but how competitive is it to get into the "trade school"? Merchant marine academies will take anyone but it's 4 years and a ton of money to get rated unless you can get a scholarship.

seamen

Did you go to prostitutes in harbours ?

Oh no, he's just the captain. There are two that rotate out. I'm one of the third mates and I make over 17k a month. Granted, it's a really good charter. Most 3/m's get around 15k a month. Deck guys like AB's maybe 5-8k.

>12k euros
Holy shit thats $14,332 in USD, thats $171,991 a year
Not bad at all

How many people are on the ship?
Where have you been?
What is the craziest thing you have encountered on the ship?

SIU at least is desperate so there are tons of jobs on the board. They'd take you for sure.

I'm actually ok with him doing it on pol. It's the only way we can make sure it's OP.

depressing as fuck , keep in mind you live with only 30 people for a lot of time and no internet. !
its basicly a very good paid prison . i got used to it though
>pic related in San Fransisco , i loved it

What line, what ship and did you ever come through Vancouver? I'm a first aid attendant for the stevedores.

What's long, black hard and full of seamen?

looks like a level from a next gen mario game

>3rd mates making six figures

What kind of boat are you on?

They can do alright. He actually probably made out like a bandit.

how dangerous is it, and are your quarters reasonably habitable?

Product tanker. But any oil tanker will make the same.

28 in my ship , i been to hong kong , xiamen , yantian , fuqing , Los angeles and Oakland

It's still a larping gyppo.

Honestly there is a lot of bullshit info on the net about getting into this line of work. You post is the most straight forward thing I have read about getting onboard.

What's the typical salary for entry level? 4 years is a long fucking time to get a job like this.

>It's the only way we can make sure it's OP.
>implying that /bant/ doesn't have IDs
>implying that you couldn't do that in any board
>implying that trips don't exist
Or maybe you're just too new to know anything of that... You need to go back to fucking reddit newfag.

What is "work"? Make sure the containers are secure? Maintain and clean the boat?

Not very dangerous if you're with a good crew and good company. Everyone has to follow SOLAS regs worldwide. My room is pretty great, man. Couch, Xbox, comfy bed, satellite TV with HBO/Starz etc, no wifi on this ship but most do, my own bathroom/head, desk.
