Why doesn't Norway do anything with Svalbard?

Why doesn't Norway do anything with Svalbard?
It's fucking huge, yet only 2k people live there.

Used to be a lot of coal mines there, now it's more of a turist attraction.

>It's fucking huge, yet only 2k people live there.

is most of canada

other than mining, arctic islands don't offer much

So it's basically the Norwegian version of Australia?

It's fucking cold.
Who wants to live on a barren rocks at -20.

Time to kick those Russians out before
fore they decide to announce with there BS claims like they did with Crimea. A hurrrr durrrr the people here speak Russian so that entitled me to steal your land.

It's pretty cold I've heard

Australia minus anything within a hundred miles from the coast or a river.

They've got a nice sperm-like border aesthetic going on. Can't ruin that with some uninhabited exclave.

looks like spermatic cord

Reminder that if your country is a signatory to the Svalbard treaty you have the legal right to live and work in Svalbard

Seems pretty comfy, not even that cold for the latitude, stays mostly above freezing in summer.

No one wants to live there. Its really just strategic.

Can Svalbardanon please post?

Wouldn't want to get mauled by a polar bear though.

Well we do have that seed vault.
Mostly it's just so we can say we have polar bears.

It's a lot of old mines there, and also a big science community for arctic studies.

But I think the main reason for not doing much there is that Russia would start to involve themselves since there is some old russian communities and financial interests there. And we really don't want some kind of Crimea-shit going down up there.

Also it is our clay because we discovered it.

Frp wanted to send refugees there

lol they should, to feed the polar bears

t. Hohol shitblood
Crimea is doimg better than ever now, it's citizens chose to unite with Russia.
