Samuel Phillips
The fuck is munto and why didi it flop so hard
Jackson Sullivan
I'm surprised Eternal Summer sold almost as many copies as the first series.
Adam Clark
Are those Oricon figures? Because if they are, they don't include sales from the KyoAni store, which is where most fans buy their stuff from because it often has free extras.
Justin Perez
Japs just discovered the piracy thanks to gaijins.
Nicholas Stewart
First question is the answer to second question.
Aiden Nelson
Kill yourself my man
Wyatt Gomez
>Nichijou sold better than KnK, Tamako Market, Amagi Brilliant Park, and Phantom World huh, I was led to believe it was one of their biggest flops
William Hill
You first After you tell me what the fuck is a munto
Luis Edwards
The problem is that they spent a lot of money on it.
Nathan Phillips
No they didn't. It was a Kadokawa show.
Dylan Gray
Who told you that big fat lie? If anything the KyoAni store might make up ~10% of the total sales and I'm being generous. Discs in their site don't really have any extras.
Juan Cruz
Hibike 2 is most likely to make 7.5-ishk.
Joseph Martinez
Shit that flopped because it was shit.
Henry Miller
A steady downfall
Dylan Howard
Haruhi is so popular, where is season 3
Adam Price
It flopped in the first print but sold double the amount in the reprint. Tamako, Amagi, KnK and PW didn't have a reprint yet. I doubt PW getting decent sales from a reprint though.
Jayden Moore
Which makes me wonder how well Kobayashi-san and VEG could do. I could potentially see VEG doing well if the LN is as good as they say and they adapt it well, but I have my question marks about Kobayashi-san: is the manga even that popular?
Never, the novels are dead too.
Bentley Sullivan
WHER
Gavin Jackson
if dubs haruhi s3 confirmed
Brandon White
Madoka was KyoAni's masterpiece.
Parker Rogers
- Amagi Brilliant Park: 6,792 Nips have shit taste. WOW!
Jacob Murphy
>Steady downfall >Biggest movie yet in 2016 I don't see Maidragon selling more than 1k average unless it becomes a cult hit like Lucky Star and sells more than 20k. I don't see it doing the average 6k.
Evan Harris
It's barely relevant anymore.
Landon Baker
Lucky Star was literally carried by Haruhi with same VAs and a lot of Haruhi references. Maid Dragon is pretty much confirmed to not even sell enough to chart.
Adam Rogers
It was under 2k before re-release. Literally their biggest "cult classic"
Chase Johnson
6k is pretty decent though, it's no amazing success, but it probably paid itself and made some profit.
Austin Cooper
Ah yes, the infamous KyoAni store
James Price
I was there once last year.
For the most time there is no one in the shop and you need to ring the bell if you want to enter it. Though staff was very nice.
Easton Bennett
Maid dragon will sell more than 10k
Screencap this
Brandon Hughes
This list actually makes me realize that the only true original show that Kyoani has ever made was fucking Free.
Those fuckers can't write a good script to save their lives.
Aaron Sanchez
It'll sell Nichijou numbers.
Xavier Powell
>what is Tamako Market and TLS?
Colton Rodriguez
Both of which were garbage
Jason Ortiz
Meanwhile, Kimi no Na wa is already at US$276 million. Spirited Away is at US$289.1 million.
It's $13 million away from the big prize.
Pretty soon, it's going to be both the highest-grossing anime film of all time and the highest-grossing Japanese film ever.
All because of a meme.
William Reyes
Yamada is really above the rest since she secured a good writer.
David Price
Why? Its such a shit movie.
Leo Gutierrez
I know you're trying to be funny but this shit has gotten stale.
Hibikek made me appreciate Hanada Also Yuka Yamada is Yoshida's pal and working on Maidragon
Jacob Jones
Yamada Yoshida is a good combo. That's why I'm more excited about KnK than Hibike 2 Episodes 12 and 13.
Adam Morris
so they made zero profit from k-on the movie?
Parker Jenkins
Obviously no one from outside the industry has any clues but the Keion movie was TBS production and their logo was plastered all over the place and the screens where it opened were the ones where TBS-Shochiku movies tend to open. It's safe to assume KyoAni only got the commision money from it.
Jack Morris
MODS
Easton Collins
Why...
Take it somewhere else
Lucas Miller
Oh dear.
Blake Lopez
Holy shit. It really does find a way.
Oliver Russell
Intredasting...
Matthew Bailey
It's true, though. Check the gross of Spirited Away and the gross of Kimi no Na wa.
Your Name is already the 4th Highest Grossing Japanese film of all time.
David Bennett
I don't mean that, I'm talking about keitai and meme magic, Sup Forums tier comedy
But Keit-ai really will be the highest grossing anime of all time soon.
And you can't do a thing about it.
Bentley Wright
What if KyoAni adapts Keit-ai into a TV series?
Adrian King
That'd be dumb since Haruhi is shit and the author doesn't write anymore.
Ethan Robinson
If that's true then those rights must be really cheap. It coul really happen.
Jason Myers
It's crazy how much of a powerhouse they are. Just how did they do it?
Jaxson Rivera
Even with the franchise being run to the ground and unpopular as it is now, it would still cost more money than KyoAni could afford.
Jaxson Turner
They bought their new building before koe no katachi. They have all that spare money because their production costs are so low. I know you're baiting saying Haruhi is unpopular and that it will cost a ton to buy full rights but just being at the top of the production committee funding the whole thing would be enough to be a low risk project for the publishing company not like we'd know about risks because it's more a cultural thing the way japan makes business but still.
Justin Kelly
Myriad Colors Phantom World was a mistake.
Can't believe people were memeing the limbo rock scene thinking it would equate to big sales.
Landon Walker
>2012 - Hyouka: 20,057*
Fucking season 2 when?
Gavin Kelly
You're retarded. Haruhi is not that popular anymore but it probably still makes more money off of royalties than KyoAni could do even in its best year. They just don't have the money to buy such a big franchise like that and I doubt Kadokawa would let it go either. I mean the fact that no one has bought it and Kadokawa doesn't seem interested in doing anything more than pachinko and more blu-ray boxes pretty much proves my point. It would not be profitable to make new content and it would be too risky for anyone else to buy it off their hands.
And that new building was probably built off a loan, KyoAni is not that rich, not too long ago their financial data still showed their equity ratio being 40%.
Asher Martinez
Is there a release date for the Koe no Katachi Blu Rays?
Kyoani must be suicidal if they release it the same time around Kimi no na Wa's BD, just as Koe no Katachi was released when Kimi no na wa was at the peak of its hype
Levi Reed
Interesting that Chuunibyou's sales don't seem to have increased at all after re-release, while Hyouka and Nichijou doubled, and even Beyond the Boundary got a nice boost. Chuunibyou was truly just a passing fad anime.
Gabriel Cooper
What the fuck is Munto?
Jacob Bennett
Didn't help that everyone unanimously hated S2, both in Japan and the west.
Julian Cook
>Kyoani must be suicidal if they release it the same time around Kimi no na Wa's BD
They released the movie at the same time as Kimi no na wa and they still ended up with their highest grossing movie of all time.
Wyatt Perry
They released the film a month after Kimi no Na Wa
Jaxon Sanders
Then they're release the BD a month after the Kimi no Na wa BD.
Not an argument.
Tyler Rivera
Damn Hyouka did pretty fucking good actually. Also looks like even their lower shows still do well after counting for re-release.
Based Kyoani finds a way.
Julian Barnes
A mistake.
Jose Murphy
Everyone knows Mirai is better than Rikka
Bentley Peterson
Their owner being a real estate buisnessman is a bonus for buildings and stuff.
