What went wrong?

What went wrong?

You were born.

Mimi was a mistake.

Mimi ruined the show.

Why is all modern mahou shoujo suffering?

nothing is coming together, its a mess

Got boring and stupid so I dropped it last week

Nyu appeared and ruined the show.

Me: I should protect my daughter
Inner Me: Lock that bitch in a cage!

Writing.

nothing, flipflop is atos

It had hetshit. No wonder it flopped so hard.

stop oppressing us homo scum

>implying Papika isn't the father

>Since as early as episode 2, I've cautioned people not to overanalyze this show, especially when it's full of cliches. It's fun so it's okay. The secret laboratory experiment children on top of the classic Eva tropes were like the culmination of their blatant references though, but it's still fun.
Even the hammy young Salt's acting in episode 11 was hilarious. The last three episodes are great. The tweest was like holy shit and bam, so fucking hype every Thursday now. Should have been like this from the start (what were they thinking?). The early episodes goes nowhere. They were mostly composed of things that looked cool or interesting when put together in one episode, but got wasted because they didn't show it in the next episode anymore. I almost dropped it in episode 7 because I got bored for the apparent lack of direction (even Iro-senpai's story never gets brought up anymore since then) Not joking, but I dropped Phantom World too at episode 10 because I got bored of its aimless episodic mini-stories.

>but I dropped Phantom World too at episode 10 because I got bored of its aimless episodic mini-stories
But Phatom World was objectively crap

I know, right?
not even my top ten that season.

It's fun and the girls are cute. I can see the appeal for people who like high school urban fantasy.
>objectively
Haha, you funny guy.
Stop impersonating me.

>people actually think the story changed or the episodic part didn't directly lead up to this

Every episode has tidbits with the characters growing and the plot advancing. You were just not paying attention.

Another thing that baffles me is the "nobody cares about salt/mimi" criticism especially here on Sup Forums where people have literally spent hours speculating about their backstories before they were revealed.

>nicest person you'll ever meet
>TWISTED FUCKING PSYCHOPATH

You know I just realized something.

In the last ep when Hidaka and Sayuri emerge from a useless door, what they essentially doing is giving utility purpose to that doorway, thus invalidating its status as Thomasson. Same is true about the Thomasson in their base - they turn it into a kind of reverse Thomasson in effect. When you apply this to Pure Illusion and especially and mostly to Deep Pure Illusion, which judging by its name is also supposed to be a form of hyper art, created by a person's psyche and useful at first - as recent memories and actual representations of real world, but now essentially with no relevance to reality, an illusion in a word, then by traversing it, interacting with it, changing it, its purity is denied and it starts to affect the real world and its creator, the unknowing artist, in a practical way - like we've seen with the top KKK dude and Iroha.

Damn this show had so much potential, yet they just had to go with the trite mommy issues and "I hate my d̶a̶d̶ Papika and I won't ̶p̶i̶l̶o̶t̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶m̶e̶c̶h̶a̶ go into PI with her".

Salt didn't protect her smile.

...

shhh Papika is sleeping

Can someone explain why DARK Mimi is fucking shit up?

man she's so cute

Because Mimi is weak.

>"I hate my d̶a̶d̶ Papika and I won't ̶p̶i̶l̶o̶t̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶m̶e̶c̶h̶a̶ go into PI with her".

but that was literally the plot of episodes 1 and 2

No, that was Cocona taking the time to warm up to it, and accept the call to adventure.

>the only reason I know this meme is because I went to tumblr

Salt/Mimi is a strong parallel to Papika/Cocona as their parent generation if you consider all things.

she has too many eyes noses and mouths

What? I'm not trolling. I'd say, fuck the haters, the show is hype now.
She got TETSUO'd.

...

>Yuniko is a shit writer this wont be interesting.
>Overanimated bad material. Will be forgotten immediately when show finishes.

They are just like us

>>Yuniko is a shit writer this wont be interesting.
What were their reactions to Yuniko after ep 7?

whatever you say

Will we get a father/daughter hug between Salt and Cocona?

Salt is the parent she deserves.

But her motivations made sense. It was her being afraid of seeing Papika get hurt.

>Anno, Hosoda, Ikuhara, the show is just all rehashes with nothing new and the story itself is completely stale.
Top banter.

Do they have threads dedicated to shitposting?

Hopefully.

I'm really liking the characters if not the plot.

Yes. It's a special forum you can go to if you want to say extremely negative things.

>Hetfags invading FlipFlop
Even more cancerous that yurifags now

Fuck off, Matoifag.

Another batch of retards hating the show for the wrong reasons.

That's kinda interesting

>Cockona

Their reactions to her tweeting things that were not positive? Generally seemed to be that it was distasteful, unprofessional and made her look like someone they wouldn't want to work with.

>Matoifags

Was she talking bad about her co workers or something?

Oh I thought they have eposidocfags too who would come to defend Yuniko and bash the "writer change" but it seems they are doing quite well with shitpost containment.

So they only watched it for the animation, sadly?

>Overanimated

>I guess Papika's IQ must be really low level.

>The fans who were thinking deeply about this anime are embarassed now.

They follow the same pattern with posting we do. This is exactly like our shit posting threads at this point in the week.

Yeah. What the fuck does that even mean?

Literally nothing.

I would really appreciate if you stopped pairing my daughter with dogs and cats, she's already very happy with her dozens of girlfriends

The writing was shit before episode 9, for what other reason would anyone watch it?

Nah, they are not really feeling the writer change

No? We barely see them interact and have no clue how they ever got romantically interested in each other. Young Salt just thinks she's cute and Young Mimi is only seen having emotions when Papika is involved. The whole emotional dilemma breakup pregnancy drama was hilariously overwrought for a 3-minute flashback.

Shouldn't you be grateful to Papika?

>yuri selling
now that's a top shelf meme

I agree with this, but at least it won't be back in the last two episodes.

Not really. Just saying how like episode 8 was different when she was working on it and that they had changed the setting completely besides the school swimsuits and it was supposed to be zombies before. And obviously talking about how she stopped working on the show after episode 6. People were saying that they should have to sign a contract saying they will only post good publicity on social media whilst a show is airing and that it was ruining other peoples enjoyment.

Why waste story time on Salt and Mimi, this is the story of Cocona. They told us exactly what we needed to know.

Salt does not know how babbies formed

Typically it refers to adding a lot of fluid movement in a scene that doesn't want or need it, to the point where it's almost distracting.

Not sure if that's the contect they're using it in.

>world building is a waste of time
fuck off

Seriously, you daughter already didn't really like what you are doing with her clothing. She liked that particular PI because it reminds her of her girlfriend.

This makes a bit of sense and leads me to wonder what would've happened if fans were never aware of a writer change in the first place.

>Why waste story time on Salt and Mimi
You should ask that to the creators, don't you think?

>and have no clue how they ever got romantically interested in each other.

Salt made her a flower crown, anyway did you really want a romantic love story beetween Salt and Mimi when we have so few episodes to wrap up everything

You can hate Salt all you want but you can't deny the most symbolic clover crowning scene of PapiCoco is paralleled by the same between Salt/Mimi.

>It looks like an animation graduates work.
Is that supposed to be bad? That stuff is made with love.

They sure found a lot of ways to say "it's shit because the animation is good".

>close and only friend
>helped deliver your child
>changed more diapers than your husbando
Giving her to Papika is the least you could do.

Another one who seems to think I wanted MORE flashbacks instead of better integration (or a straight up better backstory that could actually be told succintly without falling flat)

The show put itself in this position, it's not like it was forced upon it and it had to come up with a good solution. People excusing the content saying things like 'at least it's done with' or 'did you really want more of it?' are just proving my point that it was poor content to begin with

Think it is supposed to mean that it looks amateur.

Salt and Mimi romantic story would add nothing to the plot, the only necessary information is that they had intercourse and Cocona was born, the rest is irrelevant

>Pops was a "zombie survivor" character archetype
This would have made it make a lot more sense for that to be Bu's PI self, and it would make Bu a badass survivor.

His whole "Aim for the head" line makes a lot more sense in that case.

I already like Yuniko's vision more.

We probably would have just thought it went off the rails around 7 or so, got back on at 8, then completely fell apart after 9

That poster is an idiot, then. The stuff that graduates make for the expo and other things is generally way higher quality than typical TV animation, regardless of lack of experience.

But zombie tropes are worse than mecha tropes

Something like "eps 9-11 looks like the show finally found the plot it lost weeks ago"

>add nothing to the plot
Papicoco is focus of the plot all right, but don't you think a background of tragedies in their parent generation adds depth to an otherwise simple love story?

>the only necessary information is that they had intercourse and Cocona was born
Then why not simply say that in 1 line and use the rest of the runtime on things that would actually add something to the show? Why not set-up a different story that isn't heavily reliant on backstory in order to explain everything necessary for Cocona's story?

What are the chances the BD release of ep11 will have extended scenes?
Anons were saying that some cuts were too fast. Episode length is 23:40 just like every other one, so it could very well be possible that they had to cut stuff. At least they could get rid of the credits and add a proper ED.

You realise things happen in media for entertainment value sometimes, right?

Way to start a thread with a bait post holy shit.

What? It's a valid question. Mimi is pretty fucked in the head, despite starting out as a nice girl.

Hey man it's saturday. There's nothing to be gained from even having a thread unless the porn artist is around.

Meanwhile in Mimi Land.

Surprisingly accurate. I should start reading 2ch, probly helps that twitter sakuturds can't shitpost on it.

>normalfag retard opinions matter more because they're chinks

Absolutely nothing. Masterpiece of the season.

I know the question makes sense in context of the story but having a flipflap thread appear in the catalog simply saying "what went wrong" is like berley for shitposters.

I think they already had to shove a lot of backstory in a flashback as is, would you rather have one less of episode of a PI to have that? I sure wouldn't
