As an additional note, this reminds me of an instance back on Australia day in 2014.
I was working in a bottleshop, and my manager was an Indian bloke. He walked into work that day with the biggest smile on his face, the Aussie flag painted on his cheeks, an Aussie-flag hat and a flag draped over his shoulders. He was so stoked to have his first Australia day as an Australian citizen, it was awesome.
Half way through the afternoon, a group of drunk Aboriginals rolled through and abused him for it, telling him to "fuck off back to his own land" and to "fuck his invasion day". He was genuinely upset about it, and told them how fucking ungrateful they were, how stupid they were to not realise the blessing they were bestowed by simply being born here, how many opportunities they've wasted in this land, and how far they could take their lives here if they just gave the smallest iota of effort. He staunchly defended the ideals of this country and did so articulately and with pride. I was so proud man, it was fucking awesome.
Again: Immigration generally is a good thing - when it's done right, and when the right people get in.
