Your name

>Has Hollywood approached you yet about adapting it for an American audience?
>Shinkai: From what I understand and what I've been hearing, there are a few offers to do a live-action adaptation. That being said, as far as the US audience is concerned, I personally feel the movie is what it is, and I don't intend to redo it in any medium as of right now.
How would an American version of this movie even work? It's pretty heavily rooted in ancient tradition and mysticism, which is not a good fit for a nation less than 300 years old.

Just use Native Americans and you're all set.

Just as long as the characters themselves aren't nignogs.

I can't fathom how Hollywood would even adapt this.

What really? This fucking fast?

Am I the only one who really doesn't want to see this remade in the west?

>live-action.
Fuck you.

The leads would be played by Michael Cera and Emma Stone.

Is there a native American version of kuchikamisake?

Can't white for a live-action whitewashed, soul-less cash grab with John Green-tier stock actors.
>Inb4 New york and alaska or some shit become the contrasting settings

Wait*

They can smell money from a mile off. As nonMarvel capes flounder, they're desperately looking for the Next Big Thing to adapt, which is why they kept spamming YA fiction to get the Hunger Games audience as why they're now trying to spam anime with GitS and Death Note.

wow Sup Forumsnimu fags really are unimaginative

>hy they're now trying to spam anime with GitS and Death Note.

Which is an odd choice, because there hasn't been a single anime-to-hollywood adaptation that has made money at a scale to justify a filming craze. There is no proven logic behind it yet to go all-in on it just yet though maybe they figure it's close enough to YA fiction that maybe it will rub off.

>adults playing teenagers

Stop it user. Stop giving them ideas.

>Misty, worried about Tyler's date with Mikaela, skips school to hop on a plane to NYC

I can see the main characters will be Sarah, a southern belle and Tyronne a street-smart teenager from Bronx.

Fuck off already.
The next Hollywood adaptation after Akira is Fate/Zero.
I'm from 20 years later.

they can do something else like spirit animals. a native american ate a racoon and then vomited it back into a jar, which was preserved for three years allowing it to fester and decay, the male MC then eats it and forms the connection with the female MC.

>How would an American version of this movie even work?

You need to watch more movies.

Why the fuck they can't just release it on some digital platform like netflix or some kind of "digital cinema" where you pay to watch a single movie?

>Am I the only one
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hey future man can you please tell me, when do I get to fuck Chii?

Did someone say Live-Action version?

A boy (Chris Pratt) falls in love with a girl (Jennifer Lawrence).

Unable to ask her to prom, he is gifted by a random man(Morgan Freeman) with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she wants to go down on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to his best friend (Seth Rogan), he only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After looking on facebook, he finds out that the girl he called using his Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this planet at all. She is the girl's robotic alien counterpart (powered by Windows 10), who has fallen in love with the MC's own robotic alien self(Powered by Linux), who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, ACTION ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of CGI.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro.

>Jennifer Lawrence

No, b-but i'd like it if they do a knk hollywood adaptation...

>Emma Stone

Nah, they'll find a nice, sassy black girl who is sure to show that they care about minorities.

underrated comment

He needs to make Pacific Rim 2 dammit

America is a disease upon this world.

Already a thing.

Don't worry guys, I'm sure we'll get a multi-season live action completely original miniseries on Netflix called MiPhone or something in a year or two that'll be decent enough for not miss who don't watch anime to eat up like thanksgiving dinner at the homeless shelter

Can't wait for one of Taki or should I say Trevor's friends to be black and have found more job offers than him because of affirmative action.

They can use British people and have the spiritual things be Celtic shit.

I'm quite frankly disappointed that Sup Forums hasn't made the connection.

>communication between past and present
>someone dies
>use the deus ex machina to save that someone
>fakeout to bad ending, end up with happy ending

It's a rip off of several American movie already. If you don't know what movie it ripped off, you should really watch more movies. Here's a hint: you probably haven't heard of these movies since you are a millennial and weren't alive at the point in history when it was hugely popular. Good luck and I hope you broaden your narrow minds in the coming days instead of wasting away on this site while waiting to go back to liberal art school!

about that...

Goddamn, Kyoanuscucks really are this buttmad.

>there are a few offers to do a live-action adaptation

Fucking hollywood

All is lost

>Steven S. DeKnight

What even?

Just give Del Toro a Lovecraft story to adapt already. I bet he'll love Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath, them mitred mountain monsters were awesome.

Half the appeal of the movie is the beautiful visuals, you film that in live action that will be lost and all you have is a second rate love story.

Doesn't keanu get hit by a bus at the end when he finally sees her though?
It's been a long time since I've seen that film

>Tony is a fucking white male who lives in New York
>Maria is a Mexican transgender girl living in a remote town in Mexico.
>Both experience the body-swapping phenomenon, until it is stopped suddenly by the erecting of the Trump Wall.

What manga is that user?

Anybody know any non anime liking Youtuber review about Your Name?

Whoa hold on honky don't you be culturally appropriating dem injuns shit.

its porn

I really fucking hope this gets Oscar nomination so we can get a decent screener out of it. If it really releases next summer or October 2017, I'm gonna kill myself.

GitS is close enough to 80s western sci-fi to do well and has a well known female lead. Most anime that have had western adaptations were horribly butchered by too much artistic license and localization. If they did more gritty sci-fi like GitS (Cowboy Bebop, any military centered mecha anime) then anime adapations could be much more successful.

Wasn't Edge of Tomorrow mildly successful?

>Steven S. DeKnight
Who?

Literally forgot about Edge of Tomorrow until I read and then was amused because the post after was yours.

Anyway you both bring up great points, All You Need Is Kill/Edge of Tomorrow is sort of the first "anime" film to actually get some hype and positive reviews (though looking at the box office numbers it only broke even when factoring in marketing and distribution, which actually puts in on par with Dragonball Evolution in terms of return on investment) so that would have been the first sign to executives that maybe these chinese cartoons have some potential.

Why not just release it as is in US theatres? I'm sure plenty of people would go see it.

Never, you'll die tomorrow

Could you explain a bit more?
