Jackasses trying to end net neutrality

Hey Pol, jackasses are again voting and trying to end net neutrality, thus bringing an end to a free and open internet. We really need to kick up a political shitstorm in order to get the normies who are voting on this to back the fuck down. Net neutrality must remain, or our culture is at risk

In b4 bombarded by
>you dont know the first thing about net neutrality dont you know it makes companies not have to pay their share?
>pay debnts pay debnts pay debnts
>t. Sup Forums user of 16 months

>Federal regulation of all information is actually a GOOD thing you guys!

Fuck off at&t

>federal regulation
you mean by forcing companies to be content neutral, so they don't do things like shut down the competition or just sites they don't like

weren't you guys bitching about stormfront and the daily stormer being shut down by private companies?

Which happened while Net Neutrality was in effect.

>didnt read the 300 page bill
Fuck off idiot
STOP GIVING GOVERNMENT POWER

Imagine if ISP's could do what it took a government forever to do, whenever they felt like it.

You're a fuckin' moran if you think ISP's are going to give Sup Forums a free pass

Repeal net neutrality

Fuck off poor fag

It's regulation that has let you post old race memes on the internet for the last couple decades without fear of reprisal or loss of platform

stop letting the ISP's fuck your 'net while you hold its hand, cuck.

NN has been in effect for 2 years you fucking shill, kill yourself

And it's been an unwritten practice for far longer. Do you seriously think it was benevolent coincidence that we aren't dealing with fast-tracks, ISP curated site lists, and gated nets? Lmao

>wahhh the free market is bad wahhh
>my phones internet shoukd be as fast aathe guy paying 200 a month for fios wahhh

Hang yourself

It has nothing to do with cost you gibbering retard. I have Fios. There's bigger concerns here than just speed.

So you're advocating for the expansion of net neutrality to include registrars as well?

Glad to have you on the team

Almost every breach of this unwritten rule had to do with limiting the speed of video streaming. I don't see what's wrong with ISPs wanting to charge more to stream video 24/7. It will probably lead to better methods of streaming in the long term.

This whole fear that ISPs would censor websites is fucking retarded. The companies benefiting the most from NN are already doing this. It's a moot point.

>kekistani meme flag

This thread again?

Too late, Obama sold ICANN

Fuck ur Culture of shit

The population will find a way around it. We always have. I'm not concerned because weaponized autism owns the internet

Let them take away the internet freedom and you'll have every fat fucking neet coming out of the woodwork and finally doing something with their shitty lives.

Just like cryptocurrency becoming prevalent as forms of currency to move around shitty US currency, Euro, etc., we will find a way around net neutrality.

Lastly, fuck them for making things harder than they should be

>There's bigger concerns here than just speed.

Literally nothing but scaremongering. You admit yourself that none of these things you claim the evil ISPs are going to do were done prior to NN laws. You excuse for this is that they were "unwritten", but what does that actually mean? It means that they didn't exist and everyone got along just fine.

If ISPs really wanted to do all the shit you claim they want to do, then they would have done it back when it was perfectly legal for them to do so. NN is nothing but another excuse for the federal government to pile hundreds of regulations on an industry that was regulating itself just fine before they came along. It's no surprise that Obama pushed this though, any more than it's a surprise that Soros and Zuckerberg and Google all support NN. And it's no surprise either that we have shills like you showing up to defend them.

Quick rundown on Google's regulation abuse? I want to see a source or something because I direly want to believe.

That makes no sense, why would ISP's charging more lead to better streaming? What stops them from hawking data capped plans right now to curb streaming (besides nobody buying them)?

And lmao if you think ISP's wont immediately start filtering the web, if only to weed out competitors. Verizon owns Tumblr, you ready for the only not-trash fiber service to start prioritizing that hot mess, bitchboy?

This is some straight "internet is a series of tubes" garbage.

always beware the high pressure sale

"Unwritten but enforced" means eveey prior FCC head enforced net neutrality, even if it wasn't codified into law.

The fact that there's cucks in fucking Sup Forums of all places slobbering the fuckstick of an indian boy named Ajit Pai is insane.

>the big isps own all the liberal media sites (msnbc, nbc, huffington post, etc)
>conservative media sites tend to be smaller and independent
>lets give more power to the big isps so they can give preferential treatment to the liberal sites and hurt the conservative sites
Sup Forums is retarded

the fact that you'd agree with anything being shilled this hard by HuffPo and NYT is equally telling.

Well shill, here are our two options: We can slobber the fuckstick of Trump and some Indian guy, or we can slobber the fuckstick of Obama and Soros.

If you'd actually visited this website before your contract started, you'd know that the choice is obvious.

Stop being a contrarian and look at what hurts/harms you the most.

Every website-based company is raising a shitstorm for pretty fucking obvious reasons. Go back to choking on that 4 inch spicy knob.

Remember, Sup Forums is inflitrated by russian bots. Russia wants America to end it's net neutrality laws as the internet is not only an American invention and a symbol of American might, but it is also a symbol of freedom of movement, capitalism and freedom of speech.

If we allow our corporations to clamp down and nickle and dime it , Russia gets to go:

"Hey look, capitalism is bad. Look at what happens, the businesses buy off the government then screw over the little guy"

and

"Hey look, American just stopped doing this thing everyone expects America to do. If America can change so radically (Obama -> Trump) in one election, should we really have such a volitile nation as the world's sole super power! Lets diversify world power!"

Supporting net neutrality, the CFPB, the press, etc is to the detriment of our enemies. So why not stand for them?

this is a liberal talking point, no mistaking it
>hurr durr a poo
do shills really think pol is this retarded?

Net Neutrality is about ISP's not blocking, throttling or charging for specific content.

Its not about web content hosts doing whatever.

Comcast owns MSNBC and supports liberal ideas.

If NN goes away, Comcast, the largest ISP and the only ISP for most Americans could block all non-liberal media on the internet.

There would be no alternative way to get to it.

That isn't right.

And also remember, Russian bots hacked the election, it was HER turn.

This is the worst shill I've seen on this board in months.

You literally just copypasted your fucking actblue script. Too lazy to even use forward slashes.

Get the fuck out of here.

Someone redpill me on this whole issue. Should i honestly be worried? Will my freedoms be violated like everyone has been shouting about? Or are they just paranoid and not very much will change?

Yes, because liberals are all about not wanting to bow down to an cowhugging stooge. Maybe if you yell shill a couple more times people might buy your act, faggot.

We've had Obama's Net Neutrality™ for the last 2 years.

Do you think the internet has gotten better over the last 2 years?

Don't worry, as soon as we get DRUMPF and his entire cabinet impeached for racism and attempting to enslave the internet, we can finally put the FIRST female president where she belongs.

The US was under the assumption that net neutrality laws applied for 30 years going. It wasn't until Verizon won a lawsuit about it that the rules no longer applied to them. They promptly began fucking everyone over:

>where she belongs.

In the ground? Sounds good.

Net neutrality is for soy boys it’ll be funny when poors can’t afford anything past dial up. They’ll have to wait minutes for one pixelated set of boobs to appear on their monitor.

This is the laziest fucking shilling I've seen in months. You're literally just reading off stale leftist meme. At least make a fucking effort man, god damn.

Go with your gut in this one, brothers.

Hint: net neutrality is not a good thing

However, Google is privy to the fact that smaller companies, competitors, and start-ups bereft of the resources and capital available to build a global network infrastructure and peer with providers, must instead become customers of higher tier service providers to reach end users.

And what better way to stifle competition in the market, than have these smaller companies subject to a bevy of regulations you’re free of.

Enforcing “net neutrality” does the exact opposite of what its proponents claim. It results in an internet where a handful of large corporations have access to peering agreements with large transit providers (what some people refer to as "the fast lane"), and the rest are subject to far fewer options in terms of services, and even upon growing and gaining market share, will be denied the opportunity to shop around for different ISP plans that suit them best.

>the end of nn means no more porn

>net neutrality is not a good thing

net neutrality is a good thing.

Net Neutrality™ is not.

>If NN goes away, Comcast, the largest ISP and the only ISP for most Americans could block all non-liberal media on the internet.
For any ISP to actually do this would be suicidal.

Verizon is a competitor to Google.

NN= Verizon must let it's customers use Google's services and buy it's products online if they choose (freedom to choose).

No NN= Verizon blocks all Google everything and forces it's customers to use their services regardless if they want to.

Comcast is the largest ISP in the nation, for many the only ISP. They also own MSNBC.

NN= Comcast must allow it's customers to access CNN, Fox News, Brietbert, etc.

No NN= Comcast can ban all other news sources for whatever reason (conservative, or just competition). No alternative for customers to get the content they want.

ISP's want to change the internet into how cable is priced despite the internet not being that way.

Lets say you are a small business. Like a coffee shop or whatever.

NN= Your card reader machine that connects to the internet works fine and nothing is wrong.

No NN= Now you must pay an additional charge, on top of the one you already pay to have the machine from the banks, to your ISP for running that machine.

Do you provide wifi for you customers? Extra charge!
Aka, the internet is fine now. NN prevents this shit. The only reason Obama put it into law was because the ISP started to get uppity.

We are (((THEM))) and (((THEY))) are us.

You realize that right? All ((())) means is "western capitalist"

how about we just deal with the giant elephant in the room that is ISP monopolies instead of proposing a """""solution""""" that just amounts to giving the government more control over the internet

ISPs throttling or paywalling services would be non-issue with actual competition breathing down their neck

People unironically defend net neturuality?

Watch the fuckboys pretend you didnt just post hard evidence of:

1. Net Neutrality being enforced before DA FWIGGIN OBUMMER!!!!! wrote on a piece of paper

2. The 2 year old net neutrality law passing to keep Verizon from exploiting recently won legal battles

3. The current law, being repealed by indian leprechunt Ajit Pai, protecting us from ISP's

Easier for 12 y/os to drool past the post and yell shill.

it's just jews jewing jews

you lose either way

go back to sleep

no, (((them))) in this context means the jews. they have an age-old beef with Russia because of "muh pogroms"

i don't mind the Russians at all. Europe and all of our NATO allies can choke on Putin's uncircumcised cock for all i care.

Russia is no threat to me. I'm sure of it.

1. Google is subject to NN as they do provide internet (google fiber). They support it though.

2. "Smaller companies, competitiors and start-ups". Half of the problem is that these don't exist because America made the mistake of allowing the initial ISPs (who are the cable and phone companies of the past) to own the infrastructure rather than lease it from the government.

Want to start up your own local municipaity like Cedar Falls, Iowa? The ISP will bribe your governor and they'll pass laws to make them illegal!

Want to start up your own ISP? Well, you either need to be Google where with Google Fiber and their Google money they could lay down their own lines, or you have to lease them from the big ISPs(Comcast, Time Warner, Verzion, ATT, Mediacom). They'll price you out.

Smaller companies? They either provide DSL, which is not fit for modern commerce, or shitty satellite internet.

None of that was caused by NN, it was caused by our government allowing the actual Tubes to be owned by the ISPs.

You can tell from reading through these threads that at least 9/10 of the people defending it aren't regular posters. Whether they're paid shills or just confused soyboys trying to spread the word is debatable but it's painfully obvious that no one with a brain is on their side.

That must be why the big corporations are all fighting like hell to keep it. Hmmmm...

It’s almost as if you don’t know anything about Net Neutrality

No it wouldn't.

What is anyone going to do? Not buy the internet? Switch to the competitor that isn't there?

Monopolies are regulated by the government. That regulation is called NN.

The only way you could force competition is either wait for Google Fiber to spring up in more places or have the gov't nationalize the infrastructure and lease it out.

Big Corporations who provide internet services.

Outside of google, all the ISP's hate it.

Because hey, get this, none of them want to have their site blacklisted! Nor do they want to pay to keep their sites from being throttled! Wow!!!

Only the alt-alt-right could look at a law that enforces a fair free market and go "no!!!!we need to let ISP's act like they're the internet government".

Why are you still posting? The first sentence of your first post was "Sup Forums is inflitrated by russian bots". No one here is going to take you seriously when your first action was to out yourself as a leftist shill. If anything, all you're doing is helping build the case against yourself because any sensible person will look at what you're posting and the context in which you're posting it and think, "Anything that someone like this opposes is probably a good thing".

This legitimately is not the argument you should bring when shilling for NN. Seriously it’s a straw man at best. Tell me, what will happen if Comcast, AT&T, and the like decide to ban all traffic to Sup Forums (which they could’ve done for most of the last decade but didn’t). What would happen? Just think about it. Think really hard. I know you can do it.

wtf i love reddit now desu

>Why would more money lead to better service?
>Why would a financial incentive lead to innovation?

You have a stroke recently? You act like these companies are totally unresponsive to market pressures. Shit is fucking comical. Like holy shit nigger if your internet is full of only left wing bullshit don't buy it LOL.

>a law that enforces a fair free market
>markets become free when they're placed under extensive government regulation, not the other way around
>shills are actually this stupid

>Daily Stormer literally has its domain stolen by Google for making a fat joke.

>”muh free and open internet!”

I'll never understand the "If its left do the opposite" meme.

Like, everything bad has happened because of non-liberalism in the past 50 years.

Yet, its the liberals that should be stopped at all costs?

heh.

They would be just fine. You would cry to your mommy about how you need to change to dialup so you can yank your spud to anime girls, they will ignore you.

Orrrr, you could support the big scary government bill that keeps them from doing that.

Their hardware, their bandwidth, their rules. They have zero obligation to offer you access to the internet and you have zero obligation to pay them for access. Do you have legitimately any idea what argument you’re even making?

Fuck Soros, fuck Google, Fuck Facebook, and fuck morons like you!

Only thing that matters is competition. Net neutrality is just a fucking game between back end companies as to who pays for what

I dont understand the whole bitching about the whole blocking thing man, how are they going to block every single website there is? This whole thing just sounds like paranoia. Granted i dont want the internet to be like cable (If that claim even is true)

Comcast lobbies FOR NN user. Might wanna get your facts straight. Also the FCC chairman who ushered this in was also a former exec for Comcast. You’re high if you think they don’t want this just as much as a company like Google or Facebook.

That's because they fucking are. What the fuck is your dull ass going to do if they decide to just pocket the money? Build your own fucking cables?

Maybe you should read instead of yelling "GUBMINT". Cancers like you are what keeps the free market from functioning.

This is the guy selling out Rural America by giving his future employer the CBRS spectrum.

More competition will fix everything.

>Net neutrality
Let it die, this will only affect Americans and eventually leafs

The FCC guy worked for Verizon.

Also, comcast posted something saying that the removal of NN was "the restoration of internet freedom act" or some bullshit.

So what happened, to people like you, is they use "freedom" and you assume they are for it. They do this to confuse people. Just like how there are those who like the ACA but dislike Obamacare.

Research what "net nutrality" is before posting

itt alot of two year olds who dont remember what the internet was like before 2015
protip: it was like it is now just with less censorship

or subsidize more starters, there are other solutions

the point is, the problem is a severe lack of competition which NN doesn't address and proponents of NN don't even seem to care

NN is about treating a symptom and doing so with more government regulation

there are better solutions, I'm against NN until it does more

comcast is still free to rape the average person with exorbitantly high prices one way or the other

They didnt foot the bill to build those cables in the first place, our fucking taxes did. They then bribed local officials to keep others from building new cables. If bandwidth is actually too limited (hot tip: it's not.) It's because those fruits have been pocketing money we pay them to expand shit.

You're defending them quadruple-cucking your dumb ass.

Even if we had more competition, NN would still be needed to prevent ISP's from cabelizing the internet.

>I'm against NN until it does more

>I'm against something that does good until it does MORE good.

Like ACA, okay.

verizon already tried a decade ago, there was a severe backlash and it blew up in their faces

This might seem radical but just don't buy their internet connection. If it doesn't have anything on it you want anyway why would you bother? Surely you're not that much of a digital slave are you?

NN has only been around for 2 years. What stopped them from doing that before? Censorship is not an argument worth making when it comes to NN because it’s not a valid concern. It’s terrible fucking business to ban ideas on the internet in America. Gab would not exist and would not have millions of users had Twitter not started censoring ideas on their platform. I seriously hope that the ISPs decide to start censoring websites. Watch how fast I get a fuck ton of VC funding to fill that void by offering a truly free internet service. Learn how markets work. If there is a void, someone will always fill it. The same thing happened during the civil rights era. Businesses didn’t want to serve blacks and so people came in and started competing operations that offered service to everyone and that ended up putting the racists out of business. Same thing would happen here. If they want to censor ideas, someone will steal their business. The key is keeping the barriers to entry low and cheap. Government regulations do the opposite. They make it so fucking expensive to enter an industry that nobody can do it. Try opening a private bank nowadays. It’s impossible.

shill

sage

NN is gay

NN is funded by (((SOROS))) go fuck yourself shill

Or you could read that helpful effortpost that actually showed Verizon & cohorts successfully censoring competitors and winning legal battles before the bill was passed.

We have a president who won off the back of a free internet pushing him in every state, and a shitsack like you is pretending we're less free because a nigger signed the bill that white people smarter than you wrote.

DING DING DING! That’s the answer. They’d lose business and would immediately revert.

yes, I'm against it until it does more because other solutions don't have to give the government more control

>NN would still be needed to prevent ISP's from cabelizing the internet.
not with competition

If an ISP dare tried to touch a normie's precious netflix, they would abandon ship so fucking fast and run to the next competitor

...

Nah it would never work.

Yeah bro, I'l go to the OTHER fiber optic service around here. Oh wait. There fucking isnt one.
