I had a bit of a phase a few months ago where i watched loads of shorts and eventualy dove into watching alot of the pre war animation that survived, i know iv watched the first recorded japanese animation but thats no more than a 3 second squiggle.
my favorate from that era
Would have to be Spider and tulip, it uses some really dated but interesting animation techniques, and its also charming as fuck.
Id also recomend any of the ww2 propoganda animations like momotarou no umiwashi

Some mecha anime was the first I saw when I was still in daycare. That counts as the oldest chronologically.

As for when the anime was actually made, fuck if I know, there's a metric ton of old stuff I've watched.

I used to obsessively watch Maya the Honeybee as a kid, and I've seen a few episodes of the 1966 Osomatsu-kun series too.
