What even pushes you to get into cute girl SOL shows? Your average person who looks at anime sees action, comedy, and romance shows, and you go straight into cutesy girls. I kinda get the appeal, but what would even trigger the thought into trying these in the first place?

"Girls having fun is cute, and cute is something that needs no explanation — that’s what’s so great about it."
- Inio Asano

Keep in mind individual shows have appeal besides their "cuteness" - Azumanga Daioh's comedy, Lucky Star's otaku meta humour, K-On's pure-hearted sweetness, and so on.

I don't know. To be honest I was kinda sick of all those other stuff from the start.
Hell I remember the first time I even discovered and anime with no supernatural or unbelievable shit and how amazed I was.

Lots of ways. Like you might watch a bunch of harem shows and think, "This would be much better without that MC faggot and just cute girls", then realise that's a genre.

It's soothing in contrast to reality. An unreachable ideal, but it's truly comforting to watch girls having innocent fun.

It's sad to think that those cute girls would go into Japan's work force.

>This action show was nice, and I liked the main couple. Maybe I'll try romance next.

>This romance show was nice, but could have used something more.

>Yes. More girls. This is exactly what I wanted. Thank you, harem anime.
    ↓
>Actually, forget the guy since they tend to suck. Just give me the girls.

Well, when my anime knowledge was very limited I tried watching a show from the studio that made an anime that I loved (Haruhi) then I watched Keion and since I loved it too I picked lucky star. That way I loved cute girl SoL from the very beginning. And KyoAni but that's another thing.

An escape from reality. On the plus side, it made it easier to appreciate friendship even fujobait friendships seeing as I will never attain it.
