The term Aryan means noble in the ancient Proto-Indo-Iranian language. The Avesta, the holy book of Zoroastrianism, refers to Iran and Central Asia as "the Aryan expanse", that is the vast lands belonging to the ancient Iranic-speakers. Likewise the Vedas refer to ancient Hindus as Aryans.

Later on of course we began translating Hittite inscriptions and realized that Hittite is actually the oldest written Indo-European language, alongside Mycenaean Greek meaning the Mediterranean Indo-Europeans rather than the Indo-Iranians were the first writers. But Sanskrit was translated in the 1800s while Mycenaean wasn't translated until the 1950s. And even today no one is sure if Minoan is also Indo-European or something else because it is untranslated.
Also the swastika appears in pretty much all Indo-European cultures from Ireland to Sri Lanka.
