shit

Just call it 5 Centimeters per Second you retarded japanophile

Fuck off.

Didn't show the best short story: "The poem of the sea and the sky"

There's a manga but it'll never be animated

Watch if you want to sleep

I watched it with someone who was important to me at the time. Probably won't rewatch it, for the same reason.

I actually cried at the music video part.

I like watching this during those days when I completely isolate myself so I can really integrate myself into this film. It's depressing yet comforting at the same time.

Great story and visuals but shitty ending.

you're a bitch

Really corny, unrealistic, and bad.

I might have had a different opinion if I watched it alone, but I watched it with a couple of friends and it made it seem all the more ridiculous.

Strong first arc, but the other two were just plain bad.

The reason why we hate trains in a Makoto Shinkai movie.

>unrealistic

Actually, one of the things that I admired from the film most is how realistic it was. You don't always end up with the person who you swear you can only see yourself with; more-so if distance plays a defensive role in the obstacle course that is a relationship. These characters were apart figuratively and literally, and even though he still held onto the thoughts of her, she moved on. She ended up getting a different significant other, and he remained stuck in the past mourning over what could have been instead of what could be with new people.

>She ended up getting a different significant other
Thank god for NTR

I guess it cannot be helped.

He should give her a good dicking in the shed.

Shinkai films are the exact jap equivalent of the shitty chick flicks your mom watches on the couch

the only difference is that live film is replaced with glittery drawings

Good theme song.

Didn't really feel conclusive enough. Felt like it was only half the movie. Kind of reminds me of Eve no Jikan where they build up this huge overarching conspiracy plot and just ends it without ever getting to it.

Enjoy seeing your childhood friend being fucked by a man that's not you.

Not terrible but if it wasn't for that goddamn song and trains no one would remember it today.

I hate fucking trains.

A masterpiece, but now since Your Name made it big hisptercucks and contrarians came out of the woodwoork to bitch and moan about it.

The third part is pretty bare bones in the movie. The manga had much more to it, though you might find you have the same complaint there too, because it also sort of cuts off right before something happens.

I actually find it very hard to read the manga now, because it cut super close to home when I first read it.

just fucking call it 5 Centimeters per Second

It's shit that can impress "tf no gf" people or teens. Nothing except visual. Characters in porn are more realistic and interesting

I watched it under the impression that it would make me cry but all I got out of it was that the person who suggested that to me must be living a miserable fucking life to cry from something like this

Then it made me realize that there's like a fuck ton of you that probably cried from this shit because its story so easily appeals to those who spends a majority of their life depressed cause they don't have a fucking girlfriend

to anyone else, it's just a fucking story that's a little sad cause that's just how things go. Overall mediocre story but due to the subject matter it'll garner appeal regardless of how lackluster the plot is.

>a guy who keeps obsessing over a girl he kissed like 9 years ago is "unrealistic"

>there are people in real life who dedicated a whole year cumming on the same figure

pic rel hit me, because all I have is boring job, animu and alcohol it's great

Worst Shinkai.

The movie completely shits on what happened between arcs leaving it up yo the public GUESS what happened for them to be like that.

That's bad writing and why it had a weak second half and unrealistic finale.

>The movie completely shits on what happened between arcs leaving it up yo the public GUESS what happened for them to be like that.
>That's bad writing

maybe you should say that about yourself when I can't even fucking understand what you just typed out half way through your sentence

I liked it a lot apart from the second act. It's also the first Shinkai film I watched so it has the biggest impression on me out of his works.

What had the manga the movie didn't show?

Pretty to look at, other than that I was pretty bored and unimpressed by whatever was going on.

>The movie completely gives no shits on what happened between arcs leaving it up to the public to GUESS what happened with the MCs to be like that by the end.
>That's bad writing and why it had a weak second half and unrealistic finale.
There. I'm bored and not caring enough to check typos.

>5cm/s
Den-wa
>Your name?
Keit-ai

People have always been lukewarm to negative about 5cm per second, and Shinkai in general on Sup Forums.

Your comment is pretty aggressive. Are you sure you aren't self projecting?

Maybe you should go back to school and learn to read because, aside from that typo, that sentence is fine.

What about that is self projection? A person saying this type of story would make a "tfw no gf" lonely user cry while saying he himself didn't seems nothing like a projection.

projection doesn't equate from a person being aggressive

I think it's tragic yet beautiful, while also giving a valuable warning to young people to not close their hearts. 10/10.

I watched it again recently. Afterwards I cried like a baby and ate a pint of ice cream.

I think it hit a lot closer to home this last time because I've had more life experiences that were depicted in the film. I've loved and lost love, and I've struggled with moving forward.

The most important take away from the film is to not close your heart, and to love again.

A romance film for people that never experienced romance

How anyone involved could go 'yeah this musical montage with a cringeworthy Japfolk song as soundtrack will do as the third arc' is beyond me

Manga is not canon

It got about that part, I expected answers about their adulthood and then the music starts playing until movie ends.

What the fuck was that? Some kind of Broadway bullshit montage or HSM?

I facepalmed athow cringy it was.
