Join the Army and get your EMT-P or LPN license.
If you join as a 68W with an EMT-B License your training gets sliced in half, making the course easy as fuck.
You could also do 68C instead and get your LPN.
Or if you're wanting to get your EMT-P then you should go 68WW1.
Do Active Duty, not reserves. After you do your 3 years active duty you can get your post 9/11 GI bill and maybe do nursing.
Here's what I did.
>Graduate Highschool
>Join Active Duty as 68W
>Reenlist for 68WM6 (68C now)
>Get out
>Use post 9/11 GI bill
>Graduate in less than a week with my BSN

I got the national cert. while I was in the army. it never occurred to me to work as an EMT because the pay and hours are utter shit.

I went into paper-pushing for a large hospital network after college (mba) and make tons of $ as an administrator now.

Still deciding if I'm going to go into advanced practice later or going the admin route. The "grunt" mentality I picked up in the Army still has be straying away from desk jobs. Maybe after I'm more broken I'll get it and sit behind the desk.

If you do 68WW1 and get into Ranger Regiment, Civil Affairs, or 160th SOAR you can land a good mercenary job with groups like Blackwater (its name has changed, forget the name).
Medics that work for them make like $900 a day in afganistan/Iraq.
6 months/1year x $900/day = A lot of $$$.
Thinking about doing that myself in a year or so. Even without Special Operations background they might take me.
