The invasion was totally justified as the Poles refused to ally with the Germans against the USSR.
Poles were constantly mounting armed uprisings during occupation which is what caused the combat deaths (combat deaths that didn't occur in countries which cooperated)
Sweden for example allowed Nazi Germany to move troops in and out of the country, despite being neutral, and as a result the Germans didn't touch them.
