One is dealing with appropriate attire in church, the other is talking about why Jesus acted the way He did. I'm not sure how you think those are in opposition to each other. Also, the veil thing came from Paul, who was most definitely NOT Jesus. Also, how on earth is that a good reason to stop believing? That's great user, I'll pray that god bless you and guide you and keep you.

BREAKING: POPE DECLARES TROUBLING INTERPRETATION OF AL ‘AUTHENTIC MAGISTERIUM’
Church Militant is confirming that Pope Francis has officially approved the interpretation of Amoris Laetitia that opens Holy Communion to the divorced and civilly remarried in some instances, directly contradicting Canon 915 of the Code of Canon Law, arguably making this interpretation binding on the consciences of the faithful.
In a Papal Rescript granted on June 5, 2017 ex Audientia Sanctissimi to the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, and just now released by the Vatican in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis, the Holy Father has raised to the level of "authentic Magisterium" both the private letter he wrote on September 5, 2016 to Bp. Sergio Alfredo Fenoy, the Delegate of the Buenos Aires Pastoral Region of the Bishops’ Conference of Argentina, and the Criterios Basicos para la aplicación del capitulo VIII de Amoris laetitia ("Basic Criteria for the Application of Chapter VIII of Amoris Laetitia"), issued on the same day by the bishops of the Buenos Aires Pastoral Region.
Lucky you. I hope it works out! I dated a non practicing / non traditional catholic for a little and it was a mistake. This is also when I wasn't as serious with my faith. I have been becoming more serious in the last couple months, slowly taking away the degeneracy in my life. But it's real hard. Especially the being a good person and dealing with pornography.

>I hope it works out! I do too. We agree on quite a lot of things and she's a real interesting and educated gal (though to be fair, it's hard to get into my school and not be educated) and she's quite profound at times, all of which is really nice. >I dated a non practicing / non traditional catholic for a little and it was a mistake. I'd imagine. My rule is generally to stay away from dating the non-devout unless you're rather sure you can make them such.
Aaron Baker
>the veil thing came from Paul Who would certainly have had enough guidance from Jesus to understand that any rules he made would apply to any year regardless of the current one.
>how on earth is that a good reason to stop believing I never saw it in my life until I visited a protestant church that still enforced it. After that I started thinking about that rule, and one thing I realized is that its removal roughly coincides with the introduction of the sexual revolution to catholic lay women. I have yet to meet a catholic woman born after the unenforcement of that rule (1983) who also takes "thou shalt not commit adultery" seriously or even appears to comprehend it.

>Who would certainly have had enough guidance from Jesus to understand that any rules he made would apply to any year regardless of the current one. in that same passage paul talks about how the veil is need to stop angels from getting horny, taking it literally is insane. >I never saw it in my life until I visited a protestant church that still enforced it. A)That is because the sexual revolution occured around the time of vatican II B) there are plenty of Catholic women who understand that, anecdotes are never good for basing sweeping judgements on

As an atheist, and drunk, I have to ask you Catholicbros: how the fuck do you still believe? In the church and all the theo/mystical shit.
I'm tradcon as fuck and we support alot of the same social policy, but like fuck can I wrap my head around religion.
Sebastian Adams
I'm confused. Are you just memeing, or do you actually not know what to do with a magnificat?
Joshua Stewart
>I'm tradcon as fuck >we support a lot of the same social policy At this point, pick one
>but like fuck I can wrap my head around religion The Catholic Church is living proof that strict rules under threat of eternal fire is the only way to protect traditional values. Once those rules aren't strict anymore, or the threat is downplayed, poof.
Charles Martinez
This is an interesting conversation to have. 1 Cor has been seen by a few critics as potentially being a deutero-Pauline letter. I'd look into that if you don't know what that is, but to summarize, it's this idea that not all of Paul's letters were written by him.
Anyways, in that section of 1 Cor where much like how Eve was made from Adam, women were seen as the objects of men, and that not covering your head with a veil was a sign of disrespect towards God, since showing your hair would have been seen as drawing attention to yourself sexually (for women, at least - the opposite holds true for men in this case). However, we have to understand that while women was made from man, men are born from women, and that both are seen equal in the eyes of God regardless.
What's important to get from this passage is that we shouldn't be drawing attention to ourselves while giving our time to God in any form. Social norms are relatively better, anyways.
I hope this helps. Feel free to correct me if you come across this and would like to improve it - I'm just a college student taking a new testament course.
Evan Rogers
>how the fuck do you still believe? In the church and all the theo/mystical shit. the rational arguements for it laid out by the great many Catholic thinkers, personal revelation and feelings of """""seeing""""" God (not in the literal seeing with one's eye's sense of course), agreement with the doctrines and teachings and seeing how truthful they are and how they make sense just to name a few things. Honestly, defending my faith was what deepened it the most. There's a profound depth and beauty to the teachings of Christ which one can't fully appreciate until they are forced to question them while defending them. Now if I may ask, what keeps you from belief friend?
Cameron Morales
seems mostly right to me, though I'm not sure "objects" is the best term. >I'm just a college student taking a new testament course. What uni if you don't mind my asking?

Weak. Fear is a tool of an ineffective system. Living the "good" has its own self-evident rewards. Being a degenerate is obviously miserable.
Ryder Bell
I don't do that, never have, never will, never seen anyone else doing it, either. But thank you for illustrating exactly the type of toxic, worthless, spiteful posts I'll be avoiding during Advent.
