Koichi is probably the model for Yugi though. Kazuki Takahashi has confirmed he loves JoJo several times in interviews, and the whole "Ka" concept Millenium World had going was outright based on stands.
Koichi was Araki's attempt at making a weak character grow into a strong character. Takahashi inspired himself from it to create Yugi. Even their height is similar--they're both small because their frailness creates a contrast with how strong they actually are. They also both have spiky hair.

I remember being shocked to find out Joey casually talking about lending his porn videos to Yugi and all the violence. It made Yugi and Joey's bond more legitimate than the anime. I stopped after volume 3 though, anyone know a good site to read it?

I love all that shit. The first three Beyblade seasons are some of my favorite anime. I know it ain't perfect but it excites the kid in me. Yugioh, First seasons of Pokemon, and Digimon all fill that same void left in my heart.

Anime canon went on to treat him as a Legend, Atem's existence was never made public.
Also Anzu wasn't 100% on Atem's dick by the end of the manga, she was having trouble on who to cheer for at the final duel, meaning little Yugi isn't completely written off in her mind.

Japanese version is due out in March, apparently. Sub teams have already declared that they'll be working on it non-stop once it's released. No word on the dub version's BD/DVD release.
