My friend is a christian who stays out of politics but who is graduating from a baptist seminary soon. He is under the impression that Christians should be doing more to help with the refugee crisis, mainly letting refugees into the country. I started talking to him about that and pointing out that most of the refugees are male and over the age of 18. Certainly not your "poor old woman fleeing the ravages of war". What are some good fact based sources I can use to point out to him what is really going on over there?

People like that don't give a single fuck about other people facing horrible consequences for his "goodness". If you show him rape statistics he will not give a fuck, because HE hasn't been raped by a refugee, so therefore it's ok. Convince him to take in a few "refugee kids" into his home. Convince him that it's the christian way, that HE can change their lives and give them a positive start in Murrica. Tell him that the best and most Christian thing he can do is work to improve the conditions of the migrants’ home countries. Ultimately, those conditions are the cause of their suffering. But to encourage migrants to enter Europe creates societal stresses in Europe, which is just as damaging as doing nothing to help them.

Very good odds that your soon to be pastor friend has been infected with the Scofield Reference Bible and its teachings. If so, there is little that is going to change his mind or reach him about refugees. Until he understands the deception and confusion that God's enemies have woven into the Church, especially post Reformation, all efforts to convince him about refugees will likely be in vain.
