It will feature the debut of BLACK Jacket Lupin and it will feature Goemon as the main protagonist since 1987's Fuma Conspiracy (which is having it's 30th anniversary this year). Speaking of which, 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Lupin III so expect something special this year.

some new images of the Goemon film. This will be the cover of the upcoming OST.

Official poster

which would look great next to the Jigen's Gravestone poster.

I forgot to mention the Goemon film is a sequel to Gravestone if you didn't already know that.

I should also mention Lupin III Part II collection 1 will be out in 4 days. You can preorder it on rightstuf or amazon. It will contain the first 40 episodes both sub and dub as well as audio commentaries, the original adult swim bumpers and other special features. What I like most of all is that it comes with a slipcover which I am a sucker for.

youtu.be/ee12JuuRB0Q

here's what it will look like next to the complete Green Jacket collection.

Why is Pink the best series?

well it went back to it's manga routes with the wacky art and animation while having the great storytelling red jacket had. The animation was also higher quality than the previous 2 series. It was just a very fun show.

as always I should mention a lot of people come to these threads wanting to get into Lupin but don't know where to start. Here's what I suggest you do.

watch all of the 1st series (Green)
watch some of the 2nd series (Red)
watch some of the 3rd series (Pink)
watch all of the Blue series (Blue)

after you feel like you've seen enough of the Red jacket series feel free to start watching the movies It's okay to not finish all of the series because it's episodic with no real storyline with the exception of the Blue Jacket series which comes later. These are the movies I suggest you watch in this order

Mystery of Mamo
Castle of Cagliostro
Legend of the Gold Babylon
Fuma Conspiracy
Hemingway Papers
In Memory of Walther P38
Missed by a Dollar

once you have finished all of this feel free to watch all the other movies. I left out some other good ones, but the ones listed above are the absolute best and should be seen first.

when you're done all that, go ahead and watch the Fujiko Mine spinoff series which is a prequel to Green Jacket. Be aware it there is a main story so watch all of it. It's only 13 episodes anyway. Another thing is it's darker and grittier than any other Lupin series with lots more nudity so keep that in mind. It still has some great episodes that don't focus on the main plot though. If you enjoyed it watch the 2 sequel OVAs called Jigen's Gravestone. After that watch the next sequel which is the upcoming Goemon film.

Hope this helped.

also dont forget to pick your favorite Lupin design.

forgot I had more images. here we have Black Jacket Lupin.

the villain nicknamed "The Bermuda Spectre" and Goemon.

here we have the Goemon Blu Ray Gold edition which will be released in March I believe.

and the DVD release.

is no one interested? if not, I might as well stop.

I am, but I'm too drunk to add any meaningful comments.

Takeshi Koike in charge of another Lupin movie? About best boy Goemon? Sign me the fuck up!

>loopin hte third.jpg
I'm sure you did that just for the picture, but I should remind you his name is pronounced as Lupan. I only say this because one of the things that annoys me is when people pronounce it as Loopin which is absolutely incorrect.

It's Loopin, you fucking retard. He's based on Arsène Lupin. You're not Japanese and you're not speaking 日本語.

I didn't change the filename at all. That was how it read when I saved it and Pic Related, honest.

amazon link?

>TFW you realize 50 years worth of Anime & Manga sprung out of some guy's dA-tier Fanfic

remember that time lupin met the justice league?

The Arsène Lupin movies are fantastic, go watch them (excluding the 2004 movie).

Remember when Lupin stole a boatload of Penguins and had no idea what to do with them?

retard. It's Lupan

the Japanese pronounce as Rupan, because in Japanese, It is Rupan Sansei.

Arsène Lupin is a french name dumbshit in which they pronounce it as Lupan

howtopronounce.com/french/lupin/

Even in almost every single English dub they have it pronounced as Lupan with the exception of the early funimation dubs where they pronounced every single name wrong, not just Lupin

later when Funimation did the Fujiko series, they learned from their mistakes and decided to pronounce all the names correctly. Even on the commentary they admit they were told it was pronounced as Lupan which is why they changed it. Even the Blue Jacket dub has it pronounced as Lupan. .

No one calls him Lupin except for people who don't know shit including yourself.

remember that time lupin got a sex change?

Eat a bag of dicks.

it's like $10 cheaper on rightstuf though, not including shipping.

>black jacket lupin
whelp its confirmed for either a series of OVA's or a new series to celebrate the 50th.
I'm entirely ok with this.

Remember when Lupin had a son?

>met
you mean became their leader?

fucking what?

thats just what happens when you type in the word on a computer dumbass. it's obviously going to pronounce it the way it's spelled. you really are this desperate.

I sure do

youtube.com/watch?v=nqiIhqL8axE
Fucking retard

that doesnt mean anything. Blue Jacket was suppose to be on one off which is why it only appears once in Koikes film. when TMS did the Blue Jacket series, they liked the color and stuck with it. Just because Black Jacket is in the new film doesn't mean it will spawn a series or OVAs... at least I hope not. Black is too bland.

I recently got that release of Green Jacket and I was disappointed when the case for mine was clear and not opaque black like in your picture. It also got a lot of sticker residue on it from that sticker that was over the top. Despite all of that, it's a fantastic release of one of my favorite shows.

You're doing the same thing Even when I gave you the facts to why his name is pronounced the way it is. I know you're just shitposting at this point. Just because YOU specifically want to pronounce it as Loopin does not mean it's how his name is Pronounced.

I have no idea why you're linking random shit, but here's all that needs to be said on the subject:
ルパン
(Rupan)

Black Jacket Lupin looks slick as ever.

you could just buy the slim pack for The Green Jacket series.

I really need to sit down and get into this series.
The art style for the recent series look so good.

There's too much Black. Black Jacket, Black shirt, Black Pants. it's kind of gross. you need separate the colors. Plus Lupin is a flashy guy. this shit is just too emo.

It had the best art of any anime in 2015. Lupin is known to have overly detailed art going all the way back to the original series. A lot of the movies are gorgeous as well.

I intend to because it also has cool cover art.

...

Stop arguing autists

youtube.com/watch?v=q2f9trYMt4U

I personally like the cover of the original release more because I think it's more unique and would go better with the new Red Jacket DVDs.. but also because I just love big cases.
also more pics.

don't you mean Herlock Sholmes?
more pics

>YOU specifically
I've given you multiple sources (more than you btw) of it being pronounced the way you deny. You call what you post fact and what I post false. You're full of shit.

I guess I should stop saying Dragon Ball Z because it's obviously DORAGON BOORU ZETTO

last one.

If anyone could make more of these, I'd appreciate it. Some of the other good montage choices are Dead or Alive and Walther P38

...

sources? All you've been posting are youtube videos of computerized pronunciations of the word "Lupin" which are meant to sound out words exactly how they are spelled.

Even then it has nothing to do with the character of Arsène Lupin since the word Lupin and name Lupin are two totally different things.

>youtube videos of computerized
Wrong. The second link was people, various clips of them all pronouncing it. I'm done with you, autist troll.

oops wrong pic

You completely missed the point. Just know you're still wrong.

stop arguing and ill end this
youtu.be/DQI2_4oUjsg

this is the guy who did the music for the first lupin series. he is japanese and would call him rupan but when he does his english lyrics he is pronouncing his name as lu-pan instead of lu-pin. being that is a french name i guess it would be lup-pan. the old adult swim red jacket dub i watched as a child said it as lu-pan which makes you wonder why they would go out of their way to say it that way instead of how it's spelled if that was the proper way of saying it.

winnar lu-pan

I agree, which is why I bought it before the other. Its spine looks really cool and sticks out well from most of the thinner cases.

I forgot how beautiful Fuma was

it is a little odd though how the case for green is thicker than red even though red has double the episodes in the set.

here's what the cover of the red jacket DVD was going to look like before they decided with the current one. I feel the biggest improvement was Zenigata.

would you a fujiko, Sup Forums?

Without hesitation

God yes.

Orange Jacket series when?

get in line

>151933237
>Black shirt AND black pants
shit taste. at least have more color. I think Purple Jacket comes next anyway. Just seems like the most obvious choice.

youre gonna hate black jacket lupin

what with his black jacket, black shirt, and black pants

I don't have much to contribute, I got into the series a bit from watching random Japanese livestreams. I was surprised at how wildly the stories could vary, especially with the Red jacket series. Pretty fun regardless.

I thought of purple too though I don't know what shade.

I do dislike it strongly. Lupin should be more colorful. At least Back Jacket has yellow tie though which makes me very happy. I also think Blue jacket might make a cameo in the new film BECAUSE if you look at
He is obviously wearing yellow tie, but in most of of the footage we seen of the movie, he's wearing red tie and no Jacket. He wore the same red tie while wearing Blue Jacket though in Gravestone.

Absolutely not. She holds the series back from being my favorite. She ruined countless episodes of Red Jacket and so far, she's my least favorite character in her own series.

obviously a dark purple.

she's not the problem, women in general are the problem. Her job is to be fanservice and nothing more which is a good thing.

>Lupin I: Thief of legends
>Lupin III: International thief extraordinaire

wtf happened to Lupin II

My issue is her constantly betraying everyone, especially Lupin. I don't give two shits about there being fanservice in a series with a womanizer like Lupin. There were so many fucking episodes where Lupin and his gang were about to succeed just for Fujiko to either take the money or lose it for both parties.

user, it's not about whether they actually steal something, it's about the journey

Jigen is looking pretty Kawai there

It's about not being a tremendous backstabbing cunt for hundreds of episodes

I really don't get why Lupin keeps bailing her out just to get used by her again and again. Even the Batman Catwoman thing has it's limits

like what
said. Lupin doesn't give a shit about most of the things he steals. He has no real love for money or jewels. He steals because he enjoys it and it's part of his family history. the reason why he always lets fujiko betray him is not just because he's crazy for her, he just doesn't care. As long as he steals whatever he said he's going to steal, he doesn't give 2 shits what happens afterwards as long as he did his job.

with all that being said I get the issue with fujiko. shes a buzzkill who has to ruin Lupin's big moment, but if he doesn't care, why should we.

If Jigen wasn't Japanese, i'd fuck him. no homo. The only fuckable male of the group is Lupin since he canonically doesn't resemble a Japanese man being half Caucasian and all.. no homo once again.

>but if he doesn't care, why should we.

Because she's bad news. If my buddy was gaga over a chick who was going to ruin him Id be upset too even if he was happy.

what's more she's just generally not a likable person. We get it her tits are gigantic but ya get desensitized to em after a long while.

Do you guys read Lupin manga?

and then Nix was Liam Neeson

will we get a new series for the 50th anniversary? I really doubt the Goemon movie is the only thing we're getting for this historic year.

Can anyone tell me what is a Lupin about?
I've never seen these series. It is very old right?
If I would like to get into this where should I start?

>The Bermuda Spectre
>tough looking guy
>villain
>blond hair
May he be russian by any chance?
I have a feeling japanese imagine russians to be like that.

>Can anyone tell me what is a Lupin about?

The various adventures of the world's greatest thief

>I've never seen these series. It is very old right?

Wiki says manga started in 67 so yeah it's got some years on it

>If I would like to get into this where should I start?

You can start most anywhere honestly. The episodes are generally episodic in nature and shift in tone often wildly over the course of the series. But generally the episodes are very digestible even if you're a neophyte.

Id say start with the most recent blue jacket series (2015) and then go back and start from the first series

>Can anyone tell me what is a Lupin about?
Lupin is the worlds greatest thief. He is really silly and perverted but is extremely intelligent and can be the coolest most suave person ever. He is the Grandson of the infamous Arsene Lupin who was also a thief. Lupin has a friend/partner named Jigen who is an expert gunman, but unlike Lupin Jigen is usually serious and kind of a smart ass. They also have a friend named Goemon who is a samurai. Goemon is really serious and doesn't deal with their bullshit. he sometimes helps them, sometimes he tells them to fuck off. He has a sword that cuts through anything. despite being blunt and always being serious, he cares for others and is willing to help whenever they need him. oh and he wanted to kill Lupin in the beginning and has swore to do so at some point, but doesn't cause he likes him deep down. Zenigata is a bumbling detetective who's life goal is to capture and arrest Lupin but always fails, though he gets really close sometimes. him and Lupin have the best relationship of the series because they really do care for one another, but Zenigata is so obsessed with capturing Lupin. Fujiko is a sexy slut who is also a thief. she always works with Lupin but always betrays him because shes greedy. Lupin and her do love each other but they have that kind of weird relationship.
>I've never seen these series. It is very old right?
shame on you. Yes the original series came out in 1971 there are lots of movies and series.
>If I would like to get into this where should I start?
see

>Id say start with the most recent blue jacket series (2015) and then go back and start from the first series
thats a dumb idea. how are you going to tell someone to watch blue jacket 1st when he'll have no idea who any of these characters are.

well going by the trailer, he's speaking like a japanese person. this is the one thing I don't like about subs sometimes. They don't ever do accents. every character is just Japanese. Spectre could be russian, German, American, Swedish. Who really gives a shit. As long as he's as cool as the villain in Jigen's Gravestone. All we know about him is that he has metal teeth and kicks Goemon's shit in.

Because most of the episodes are written so the viewer can come to learn about the characters and their relationships via the actions on screen and a long plotted origin story isn't really needed.

Im sorry you're a retard who needs things spelled out for you but needing to see why Zenigata chases Lupin is like needing to be explained why the cat chases the mouse.

Zenigata isn't what I meant and I don't know why you have to be a piece of shit about it. I was only saying that because Blue Jacket doesn't explain why a Samurai and Gunman is following a thief around and helping him out with his missions. Some backstory (which is given in the Green Jacket series) would be really important or else people who know absolutely nothing about the series is going to be confused by such an odd cast of characters.

>I was only saying that because Blue Jacket doesn't explain why a Samurai and Gunman is following a thief around and helping him out with his missions.

Neither did Red Jacket, Castle of Cagliostro or any of the other fucktillion series, OVAs and movies and more importantly HOW they came to be a team is rarely important to the stories.
You can understand the characters and their relationships plenty fine without seeing how they came to meet.

It's really not that important as those events are rarely if ever referenced.

You don't need to know much backstory but I agree you do need know why these people work with one another. Goemon shows up in episode 4 of the first series trying to murder lupin. I think that's important to know and why he decided to work with him later.
>Neither did Red Jacket, Castle of Cagliostro or any of the other fucktillion series, OVAs and movies
you clearly have never seen most of them if you honestly think that. There is a lot of backstory given in not only the original series, but also the 2nd series, Fujiko Series, movies like First contact, Voyage to Danger, and even Cagliostro. Granted there are lots of backstory that isn't needed to watch the series, but it is knowledge worth knowing about if you want to get into the series which is what I'm assuming people typically want to do. If they want to be casuals about it and not care that much about detail, then they can be faggots on their own, but you as a person who is recommending what they should watch shouldn't have a casual faggot mindset. Always recommend the Original first before the most recent.

It's called having taste.
