Why does Sup Forums like this unoriginal, edgy pile of shit?
>Take the premise of Madoka Magica and add in Hunger Games
>Flashbacks to spoil a character's demise
>MC does LITERALLY NOTHING in the entirety of the first season
>First scene of the first episode spoiling how edgy this show was going to be while madoka surprised us later on
>No character development for most of the characters
> Season ends with two survivors instead of one, like a certain first movie of a franchise
Was it just waifu and trap bait?

It got sequels and shit, not a one off series. Its an advertisement for the LN.

> add in Hunger Games
Do you actually think Hunger Games invented "a bunch of people fight to the death"?

Are the sequels any good or are they SAO levels of rushed?

I didnt follow it after the anime ended.Check the catalog.

>First scene of the first episode spoiling how edgy this show was going to be while madoka surprised us later on
No point in beating around the bush anymore.
I honestly found this show more fun than Madoka. It spent more time showing girls fighting and killing each other than being emo. It doesn't really matter that it was unoriginal, because pretty much all anime is derivative of other anime.
Madoka was also a ripoff of Urobuchi's favorite rider season, and all his works are the same anyways.
>Battle royale
>The monsters were actually human!
>The scope of the conflict reaches godhood by the end

>Season ends with two survivors instead of one

Despair porn is very popular.

Ripple is pure

It was shit
>Hype up a character for 11 episodes and have it killed by literally who

Honestly this show had the worst writing I've seen in a long time. Whatever shit publisher is responsible for not throwing it immediately in the trash with the other "look at my super edgy story with cute girls" stories should be shut down.

>kill top waifu
>people still watches this shit

In madoka, girls attacking each other was a natural consequence of the limited resources available, as well as personal differences.
In this, conflict is forced, arbitrarily.
Making it impossible to give a shit.

>all that speeding around and fighting while pregnant

Her baby would have been brain damaged anyway. Better to be dead than retarded.

>In this, conflict is forced, arbitrarily.
But that was the point.

3. Nemurin survives by living in the dream world

Nemurin was a good girl dindunuffin was getting ready to turn her life around needed more money for dem programs #neetlivesmatter

Kill or be killed, user. It just nature running it course. Wind blows, rain falls, and the strong prey on the weak.

>kill or be kill
>one of two survivors didn't even kill anyone

>bad writing
I didn't read the LN so I can't judge, but I loved the focus on character flashbacks and tieing that into their deaths.
It's not the usual troupes and expectations, but that's why I liked it in the first place.
They did a huge homage to Madoka with the cell tower too in the anime, which was a key part of the promotion for the Madoka anime.
I'm not sure if that makes it 'good' writing, but to me it does make at the least 'interesting' writing.

Also Swim Swim was such a cool villain. I'm not the only one who appreciates the whole child soldier/ambition thing, right?

She tried to kill the fish, that counts in my book. Her bashing that cellphone was cathartic.

But she didn't kill and wasn't killed

>I'm not the only one who appreciates the whole child soldier/ambition thing, right?
I appreciate that she chased her misguided dream earnestly.

This is much more like "Mortal Kombat: With Cute Magic Girls" which is a pretty original idea and I hope we get more later, i'm not sure why would you compare it with Madoka except that yeah, it's pretty "edgy" if by edgy you mean people die.

SwimSwim was an awesome villain. The fact that she seemed capable of anything, because she was an innocent and misguided autistic little girl given the tools to kill, made her scary as hell.

It's a Madoka ripoff because Madoka invented magical girl suffering.
Seriously though, Madoka popularized the all-girl battle royale premise and this series began right after, it's been the most obvious ripoff so far but that doesn't make it any less fun.

Who died in Madoka though?
By the end of Rebellion, all of them came back except for the girl that no one care about.

Mami a best for the thicc cosplayers

I don't remember any battle royale in Madoka, bitches making troubles happens everywhere, or you mean "survival" shit? it's very different though both have the same end. Anyways, you already agreed with me so I'm done here.

I agree with you that the first arc was pretty meh, but the later arcs are a huge improvement over the first. My favorite thing about the series is the world-building, it spends a lot of time builiding the Land of Magic up and goes in depth on to how the government functions.

Also a note that the series moves away from the death game format completely

Arc 2 is 16 girls get thrown into a virtual world and the mastermind wants them to work together to escape it, but she also assigns one of the girls as a "demon lord" and the only way for that girl to win is to kill the other girls. They get 3 days in the game world and then 3 in the real world. Its a really good whodunnit and the characters are way better.

Limited is kinda like Magical Girl 24, an assassin in her fairy get cornered in a city because the Land of Magic put up a barrier around it for 24 hours, the LOM sends an investigation team to capture the assassin, while the assassin's fairy recruits a bunch of unknowing high school students to try and defend herself, in addittion, there is a magical girl prison break, and 4 deadly prisoners are thrown into the mix, they have 24 hours to capture the assassin before things go to shit.

Jokers is kinda like a survival horror thing, 16 magical girls get trapped in a facility, 2 of them are hostile and highly dangerous, their goal is to investigate the man-made magical girls. its basically 14 on 1 as the girls try to escape against the menacing Shufflin.

Aces and Queens are kinda Game of Thrones esque in that there are basically a lot of factions vying for things, and plently of plotting and backstabbing. In Aces all of the factions are trying to capture a girl named Premium Sachiko before another magical girl named Puk Puck uses her for a ritual to amplify her power.

In Queens, which is where the TL is now, Puk Puck, who's power is literally the power of friendship weaponized, is trying to use a device for something spoilery, and everyone is trying to stop her

>but she also assigns one of the girls as a "demon lord" and the only way for that girl to win is to kill the other girls.

You just spoiled it for a lot of people

its who the demon lord is thats the main point, the fact that there is one isn't too big of a spoiler

No, its the fact that one of them is the demon lord since for the longest time, its assumed to be an NPC

I honestly didn't like the anime but loved the LNs. The author becomes more original and creative as time goes.
SW is also useful in them.

>the premise of Madoka Magica
The two have nothing in common beyond magical girls and suffering.
>and add in Hunger Games
At least say Battle Royale.
>Flashbacks to spoil a character's demise
>No character development for most of the characters
Most of their characterization came in later novels that had to be awkwardly inserted through flashbacks here. It's a crude solution but I'm not apologizing for the first book's writing.
>while madoka surprised us later on
The foreshadowing was so thick it was masturbatory, and everyone knew Urobochi was the writer. He was even bragging about a huge tonal shift in the third episode. There was no surprise with Madoka. And a surprise isn't really necessary to begin with.
>Why does Sup Forums like this unoriginal, edgy pile of shit?
Because the later books are completely different and much better. If you think people dying=edgy then you'll hate it, but it feels like a very realistic take on what would happen if you gave these powers away. Nobody has plot armor and people die when they're killed. There are many sides to each conflict and almost all the villains have relatable goals. There's a grander plot beyond deathmatches, both in the foreground and behind the scenes. I don't expect you to read it, but understand that the threads aren't full of people singing the praises of the bits you saw.

>the premise of Madoka Magica

Sounds like you never saw Madoka or any other magical girl series. Magical girls have been suffering and dying since the fucking 80s. Look at Minky Momo for example.
