Symbolism should be subtle and it should add something to the content instead of being an end in itself. If you can tell all the time that a show uses symbolism without having to specifically look for it, chances are good the show is doing it wrong.

It uses quite a lot of symbols and metaphors, but not in all contexts and most of them are not too obvious, so they actually aid in establishing the atmosphere, as for example the unsettling emptiness associated with Sudo through his white color scheme.

There was a huge amount of shots with spiky framing in this show, something about pressure and insecurity.
This shot basically inverted it to smooth and comfy framing since this was the episode where both girls really began to open up.
There's also a rebirth theme going on, guess this could count to it too, but i mostly enjoy this shot because it's probably the cutest things i've seen.

As author had died, as long as the way you read something is consistent with whatever is presented in the work, then that reading can be considered valid, even when it's not intended.
