I'm happy Gintama's back, but I'm kind of done with all these non-stop serious arcs. Let's have a Gintama thread about the older seasons, where we still had a multitude of comedy arcs/episodes.
I feel like watching some comedy parts back, recommend me some. What is your favourite comedy episode or arc? Let's remember the good old days
I still hasn't lost faith in the Kagura's boyfriend arc.
Xavier White
Maybe as an OVA one day, user.
Loved the Yagyu Arc as well. Great mix of comedy and serious. Lots of comedy, but some cool "fights" as well. I liked Hijikata facing off with a ketchup-fanatic.
Easton Cook
I watched the first episode (technically the third) of Gintama recently and it was one of the worst first episodes I've ever seen.
One of the worst episodes of Gintama? Or anime in general? Have you ever watched Gintama before? It's well-known that you have to get through the character introductions first before it gets good. I really didn't "get" Gintama at first, but after pushing through I'm incredibly grateful that I did. I'm not even joking, marathoning Gintama years ago during summer break was one of the best times of my life. Couldn't wait to get to the next episode each time.
Ryder Rodriguez
This series really jumped the shark with Utsuro.
Jose Kelly
As a fan for over 6 years, I have to agree. Terrible decision. As was the decision to end Gintama with a series of serious arcs. The carefree everyday life adventures are over for good, it seems. And those carefree days are what made Gintama so good.
Gavin Fisher
>Gintama thread about comedy arcs >no mention of Otsu Fanclub Arc Best comedy arc by a long, long mile, mostly due to Taka-tin.
Jace Hall
Literally worse than Family Guy. It's mind blowing to me how anyone over the age of 13 could enjoy this crap.
Alexander Martinez
The funeral episode is by far the most I've laughed in a Gintama episode
Andrew Powell
Nothing's worse than that, dear burger. And a typical sub-15yo wouldn't understand even half of Gintama's gags.
Andrew Myers
Remind me, is that the one with the truck with two dozen penises sticking out of the side? Or the more recent Kagura funeral episode? Both were amazing.
Jack Lopez
I'm reminded that the Ogre Bathhouse episodes are actually some of the best now that I see your pic.
Justin Cruz
It's been so long since I watched the first season, I can't remember many of the stand-alone gag episodes. I do remember the Love Correspondence Arc being really good though. The episode where Gintoki, Hijikata and Kondo all try and help Shinpachi to write back to his lover pen pal, and Kondo keeps adding "It gets me hard" in the most unusual places.
Gabriel Carter
FENNY'S MONJA
I still can't watch Rocky movies without laughing when he starts the training montage because of that.
Hunter Campbell
The penis clams one. when he started making soba out of their souls my sides were in orbit
Kayden Murphy
Yagyu had the perfect mix of comedy and serious, I think. Lots of comedy, but some cool fights as well, and some story/character progression. A lot of later serious arcs were overshadowed by the serious-factor and had way less comedy.
Lucas Hill
That was the first episode of Gintama I ever saw. It was love at first sight.
Anthony Walker
Has to be one of my all-time favourite moments. A 20-minute discussion about toilet paper in Death Note style, where everyone is thinking three steps ahead of their opponent. Then Kondo and slit-eyes step out and have a fight to end the episode with a shounen twist. So good.
Noah Martin
NABE-LEON
Aiden Harris

>pure >picks her nose >is mean >sloppy She was never pure!!!
Nathan Cox
This is so fucking amazing. What must the (obviously talented) singer have thought when she got that fucking script.
Nicholas Stewart
One of my fav arcs is when they fight those priest brothers w/e and Shinpachi falls in love with that giant bug that he's supposed to eat. I was in tears.
Sadly they can't do comedy anymore when Shogun and Sasaki are both dead. BOYCOTT SORACHI.
Easton Parker
Pandemonium-san is best girl
Carter Thomas
Every single Shogun episode is best episode. The fact that they killed him off basically sealed Gintama's fate, never to be that funny again.
I think my all-time favourite episode is the one where the Shogun comes to the swimming pool where Gintoki and Madao are working.
Josiah Young
"Pure" means she's not a filthy slut
Joseph Adams
I know this is supposed to be a classic Gintama thread, but can we all just take a moment and appreciate how amazing the new OP is? youtube.com/watch?v=0RRGjvYCPJQ
Bentley Thomas
The animation of the new season looks so good that it's unreal, I guess it's true Sunrise magic is back.
Jacob Barnes
Pretty much any episode/arc with my boi Katsura and Elizabeth in it. Katsura is by far my fav character as well, combined with Ishida Akira's voice he's just next level. I'm not that big of a Gintoki fan.
Anyone thinks we'll ever see who's under Elizabeth's costume for real?
Mason Thompson
I truely think Gintama's peak isn't in comedy episodes but in semi-serious emotional ones like Kagura doing the daily warmups in the park. Best episode was Madao Observation
David Young
You guys are in the wrong series, Gintama is not about that, pls leave.
John Walker
That first person episode is by far my all time favorite episode in the history of anime
Jordan Johnson
I don't think it's Sunrise anymore, user. But I agree, the OP and the episode looked superb.
Katsura's amazing, but really underused. I loved all this episodes so much. The Jackie Chan episode, him hiding out in that Noodle joint, etc. I think Gorilla made a joke about him not using Katsura as much because he and Kyubei overlap too much in terms of character. But I like how Katsura has a bigger role in the series at the moment, finally.
Camden Perry
on the contrary. It's ALL about that. If I want it to be
Jose Campbell
Shit, which one is that? It rings a bell.
Lincoln Morris
Episode 156. The entire episode was on this guy serving Gintoki and co
Zachary Gonzalez
Ah shit, I remember. It hinted at Gintoki and Otae or something and then at the end it's just two people in the same clothes who looked hideous. Gintama is a fucking masterpiece.
Wyatt Myers
>Gintama is a fucking masterpiece Gintama oozes charm. It's not just the source material, you could tell the staff at Sunrise really loved being involved on Gintama
Sebastian Price
Fuck, what was she called again? Cutest Gintama definitely. I didn't like that arc much, but she made it all up. Those scenes were fucking hilarious
Eli Jackson
That's sort of what I miss these days though. I mean, I liked the little skit in the latest episode about being in the midnight slot. But I miss the 10 minutes of dialogue over a still picture of the house. Or the time they even whined about the static house and they 3D animated it to spin around. And the live-action parts with the mannequins. Sunrise really helped in making Gintama feel like Gintama. It hasn't been the same since Bandai took over, I still like it, and it shows charm, but it's not like it used to be.
Jason Mitchell
>stop reading gintama for weeks because the new arc is shitty >still going on now
Ayden Harris
That's one of my favorite episodes, the one where they bathe with all the Ogre dudes
Around what episodes does it really hit its stride?
Chase Torres
Suck a giant cock, I love that OP.
Jacob Turner
>not liking beautiful days getaloadofthifaggot.jpg
William Robinson
Ah man, I loved that ending so much. >2015 Jesus Christ, life goes by so fast.
Lucas Diaz
From that season the order goes 2>1>4>Learn to accept the fact that beautiful days is torture on the ears.
Luke Long
I pity your ears, user. It's in my top three Gintama OPs. It's beauty-beauty-beautiful.
Nathaniel Butler
I'm betting one of the other two is Stairway Generation
Matthew Thompson
That's actually number 4.
Adam Bailey
When the last arc is over I want the comedy fuller arcs adapted im a new season that'll be at least 10 episodes. The rest of the season should be comedy standalone episodes that take place after defeating ustro ending off with a parody of the naruto/bleach epilouge
Isaac Rodriguez
>worse than family guy
Easiest way to spot someone who didn't watch it
Matthew Lee
Tougenkyou Alien?
James Stewart
Btw what happened to movie shinpachi? Is he doomed to walk the earth forever
Landon Cruz
That's my definite number 2.
Hunter Phillips
Shit tastes. You better have Wonderland as number 1
Evan Butler
>keep dropping Gintama because there's too many episodes, I forget to watch one sometimes and suddenly it's been 30 episodes since I've last watched. >Genuinely enjoy it every time I pick it back up, but so far behind. what do I do?
Samuel Harris
That's actually true. What's so shit about my tastes then?
Let's play the ED game. If your #1 ED isn't Wo Ai Ni, you're a fucking scrub and don't you deny it. youtube.com/watch?v=Mp1CAZh3EaQ
Jacob Baker
don't try to marathon it. You'll burn out doing that
Carson James
Enjoy the ride. I fucking wish I had 30 episodes yet to watch.
Renho arc is my favorite, it got so many laughs out of me where as usually Gintama (or any comedy) will just make me smile at most. I spent probably a good few hours looking for rare elizabeth's in the crowds too
