It's especially annoying in shows like One Piece where they make characters like Nami more "sexy" by giving her a bigger bust/ass and making it more visible. Nami was a B cup when the show began and now she's an H cup. It's hard to take the character seriously knowing that she's just there to make teenagers horny.

there's nothing inherently bad about it, only its utilization if poorly executed can be bad and in that case focusing on the fanservice is an ideologue mentality to the matter by assuming the fanservice must be the problem instead of applying a technical mindset and realizing the problem would lie in the writing or the direction
the atmosphere of a scene ruined by poor execution of fanservice is no different from a bad joke or gag, or anything that can be done in an anime and suffer of bad timing or a tone that doesn't fit.
