> As of this past week, Makoto Shinkai's your name. anime film has surpassed Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away film in worldwide box office earnings. According to the Box Office Mojo website, Shinkai's film has earned a total of US$281 million worldwide to beat Spirited Away's US$275 million.
Please stop shilling this movie, you're making me buy the BD as soon as it comes out.
Please, no more.
Joshua Stewart
Haven't even watched it yet. It's just funny to me that this was the reason Hayao Miyazaki was "out of retirement" yet again.
Lucas Ward
>All the while Americuck still can't watch it.
Adrian Thompson
So this is the power of musubi.
Thomas Cox
As someone who watched it seven times at the cinema, I want to apologise for contributing to this mess.
Parker Gonzalez
Is this really that good? I have always liked Shinkai films but I never thought they were that good. This ones premise seems cheesy as fuck too.
Jose Sanchez
Don't go in expecting anything.
Mason Powell
So when is the BD coming out? Amazon says October or some shit but I'm sure it must get released earlier in Japan, right?
Robert Cooper
>tfw you'll never hear Mitsuha's voice in other anime again because her seiyuu is an actress I'll probably kill myself.
Justin Brooks
how is kizu 3 doing?
Ethan Bailey
Kinda impossible to do at this point
Adam Howard
>Japan BD release >while the movie still sells and hasn't lost the momentum >the theme is romance >February is also the month of love I bet they will extend screening period again.
Jace Gonzalez
I don't understand, I have seen some of Shinkai films and they were enjoyable, but they didn't stand out that much. What is different about this one?
Kevin Lewis
Everyone knows spirited away is the better film tho.
Josiah Thompson
Nothing at all it just got overhyped.
Ryder Hall
Thanks to CELLPHONE. We did this. Admit it.
Hudson Hernandez
Meme magic is real, Believe it!
Jordan Myers
Marketting
Juan Reed
Lively animation with high quality, happy ending, TOHO, pacing.
William Adams
Nothing, just it's relatively easy to be consumed by normalfags and it has good ending.
Jaxon Perry
>worldwide
Does not matter, come back when it topples Spirited Away on Japan's domestic chart.
Daniel Bailey
first time i watch a movie in theater where the audiences applause during the ending
Christian Cruz
>Spirited Away, 41 weeks of screening, 30.8 billion yen >Your Name, 21 weeks of screening, 22.9 billion yen
Cameron Price
>yfw not nominated for Oscars
Jayden Kelly
So now that Shinkai's samefilm is finally successful will he proceed to make an actually different one?
Henry Butler
>Watching chink pinoy shit in 2017
Fucking thank god for trump
Brayden Rivera
> reddit spacing Stop derailing the thread faggot.
Kevin Morales
>I want to make the movie that encourage people to continue living their lives I wonder...
Logan Bailey
>all these contrarians
Sup Forums can be really pathetic when something they liked becomes suddenly popular.
Nathaniel Murphy
Finds a way.
Brayden Gray
Overrated as fuck. It was good yes, but not the best. A few years from now, everyone would forget about this already while Spirited Away will remain in the heart of people.
Owen Moore
a happy ending for once
Kayden Wood
Nope. everyone would forget about it in next 3 years because of Shinkai's next piece.
Brody Walker
Not as good as 5cm or the Garden but probably better than the rest. No one is saying it's the best as far as I can see, it's just the most popular. I think Shinkai deserves recognition after how much work he's put in over the years.
Michael Johnson
It's almost as though Sup Forums isn't one person!
Samuel Nguyen
This is quite sad desu
Chase Nguyen
This very site nature is contrarian for gods sake 12 years ago this was a safe heaven for the left.
Jayden James
It's not groundbreaking but better than decent. It's honestly a great movie. They fuck up one or two things but not enough to fuck up the film
Personally the art and music were amazing and they just had really impactful, meaningful scenes. You walk away from the movie feeling really fucking good.
The biggest reason this movie is fucking amazing is that it is suggesting the beginning of an anime renaissance. Where the industry will finally have to stop pandering to the mentally ill autistic retards that purchase all the merchandise and fund them.
Jaxson Bailey
What the fuck is so good about this film.
I need subs already.
Ryan Bennett
>The biggest reason this movie is fucking amazing is that it is suggesting the beginning of an anime renaissance.
>all this delusion
Lincoln Morales
Hey if they can finally make money without embracing autism then the industry will change.
Just imagine all the animes that have been made and how much greater they were if they weren't dripping tropes.
Soul Eater is the best example. First episode is going great and then suddenly the whole fucking episode is derailed into this bullshit subplot about the pair not being able to defeat a witch, repeatedly, because Evans keeps having a stroke due to the size of her breasts. Because they know they have to push the fetish/r34 bullshit to make it captivating to the autistic loner perverts who will write more fan art and spread it online and buy their merchandise.
If anime can just lose the bullshit tropes (most noticable sexuallizing underage girls) it will be a fucking renaissance.
Landon Martin
I got so fucking pissed at the twist cause I thought they were going to pull a "Bridge to Terabithia" bullshit tragic ending. so fucking glad they didn't. actually worked out really well cause the audience is actively hoping for a happy ending which they get
Jackson Morris
Let's Riping
Noah Nguyen
The problem is that this board still thinks the best anime should be the most popular and they freak out when it doesn't happen. As if the movie doesn't deserve its popularity because it isn't the best. Then they descend into finding every flaw possible and become contrarians acting as if it's even a bad or shit movie because they are trying to convince everyone else that it doesn't deserve to be as popular as it is.
It's a decent movie and it's annoying how fucking pessimistic the autists on this board have to be because they can't handle something being popular and mainstream.
Jose Sanders
If mediocre commercial films are all that makes money I'd hardly consider it a renaissance. There's nothing that says this isn't a one-off instance either.
Thomas Thompson
the irony in that most anime is objectively shitty porn and middle school fanfiction level action and fantasy
Jayden King
Oh it's totally possible that this is just a one shot and the industry doesn't change. It's just that the movie increases the chance that it will.
And it might just be me, but I'd consider the industry to have a renaissance when I can tell people I watch anime and they don't immediately, and justifiably, think I have a mental or social disorder.
Luke Cox
Okay Sup Forums it's time to write a better summary for the elderly fucks who vote on this shit.
Jason Davis
DO IT
Tyler Martin
Hollywood is making a ton of money and 95% of the movies they make are absolute garbage. It's all sequels, prequels, remakes, reboots and adaptations of books, comics and short stories. Now some would argue that anime is no longer a niche medium, but I'd prefer it to stay the way it is.
John Mitchell
They'll just vote for the same Disney crap they vote for every year.
Liam Torres
>caring about what the normies think
For the love of God, go back to r/anime.
Ryan Ross
If Miyazaki's success didn't change anime in the way you're thinking, then you can be certain Shinkai won't. Your Name is a heck of a lot more trashy than most other successful anime films too, so I don't even know where this is coming from. Teen body-swapping romcom is right in line with people's perception of anime.
Landon Edwards
basically this.
Not sure why so many people on Sup Forums shill for the Oscars. Sure, it would be nice to get a nomination, but voters are horribly biased towards Holywood movies, so you'll probably see the same Disney trash being pushed again this year.
The pic is from a thread 2 days ago, where an user had relatives who vote on the movie, therefore having access to a 480i streamer. They are normal DVD's, but have a large hardcoded identification numbers (like Nazo's chinksub as well) and it's very likely that user doesn't want to be identified.
Though it would be nice since these would be in actual decent 480p rather than the interlaced, low rez shit we have right now.
Carter Parker
>Hayao Miyazaki on suicide watch.
He'll just say something about how modern audiences have shit taste and don't understand or appreciate real art and storytelling anymore and move on like he always does.
Asher Williams
Is it time?
David Perry
fuck should I just watch the chinksubs are wait until some faglord finally releases it somewhere in some shitty canadian theater?
James Sullivan
man the salt in the thread is real hope Shinkai will still be able to delivery another good one in the future.
Xavier Wilson
what the fuck user
Luis Wilson
>1920x1090 >1090 >90
Nice try.
Carter Garcia
As long as he's not influenced by the increase in popularity, and just does what he wants, we'll be fine.
Luis Mitchell
At least Mitsuha's voice is nearly the same as her real voice. You can still watch her J-dorama.
Asher Brown
First of all, get the encode in pic related. It's only slightly better, but the large improvement is that it only has english subs.
Make sure you put the volume at 60% or something lower than normal, since there is slight white noise in the background that totally ruins the experience.
And finally, try to watch it on a large device like a TV, as your brain will be less likely to go full retard because of the quality.
Blurays will come out in 3-4 months, but could be pushed back even further, you never know, and only these lead to proper encodes.
Nathan Harris
when will it be out in the US? also when is that deaf girl anime movie gonna get ripped?
where is this? Private tracker? I'm not seeing this on nyaa or bakabt
Eli Edwards
its AB
Should be on public trackers by now though
Evan Fisher
I knew I shouldn't have fucked up my AB account. Still not finding it anywhere. Is it really '''720p''' quality? or worse than a animefreak streaming link?
Jayden James
I am glad Miyazaki was able to see his best Movie being trampled by some Hack's movie right before his death.
Grayson Myers
Nobody expects him to, but I wish Miyazaki would give a positive remark about the film. It will literally BTFO a lot of twats.
>audio is the same >video is minimally better, but it has no interlacing problems which I would see as a huge improvement
Nothing to justify the filesize, but for such a movie I'd go for the best I can get
Nope, it's Nazo's source. Hence the filesize
Ian Brooks
>Overrated as fuck. It was good yes, but not the best. A few years from now, everyone would forget about this already while Mononoke Hime will remain in the heart of people. FTFY
everyone ITT watching shitty camrips is seriously undermining their experience of this movie. wait for it in the cinema. trust me.
Hunter Barnes
> every news outlet in my country try to push some narrative around the movie > according to them, a big theme of the movie is supposedly gender identity and attraction to the same sex
did I misunderstood a huge part of the movie or my country medias is infested by kikes ?
Kevin Robinson
user I really have no choice because it won't screen in my country. I'm still holding onto the hope that some Oscar screener gets released.
Tyler Morgan
oh god the horror
Kevin Bailey
Every Miyazaki movie is in people's hearts
Gavin Moore
yeah that's your next best bet then. anything less than 1080p is basically defeating the point of the movie imo.
Sebastian Brown
It's not even a good movie
Eli Collins
I'm just waiting for Japanese Blu-ray release date.
Thomas Rodriguez
That's a bit shallow, don't you think?
Robert White
Jokes on you, my burger ass watched it on a plane from Japan with English subs. On United flights, there's a phone app that plays movies in-air (not just on the headrest), really surprised no one has ripped that yet.
TOP FCKING KEK, What country? our assumptions that LGBT fags will use this movie as propaganda.
Asher Brown
A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
Wyatt Hernandez
Guess the country.
Daniel Walker
about 2% as well.
Xavier Gray
$700,000 in the box office.
Jacob Nelson
It's quite obviously America. They have the craziest leftist extremist media.
Caleb Perez
from french medias, mostly written
Gavin Adams
>Hayao Miyazaki on suicide watch.
Zachary Howard
The visuals are a big part of the movie. It's not carried by them, but it's definitely a key aspect of the film.
