So I'm reading the novel and I got to the scene where Kyon's literally on top of her in her bed.
Why didn't she react? Why was she so nonchalant about it? Why didn't he just rape her right there?

She isn't really interested in him anymore.

Obviously she used to having Kyon in her bed.

their relationship matured beyond that shallow kind of stuff

Kyon is gay.

...

I don't know, that was really weird.
I had the same questions as you, regardless of the person I think it would be strange for you to wake up to someone who's never even been to your house before on top of you in the morning.

But whatever Haruhi is basically braindead at times when the plot calls for it like how she didn't notice that it couldn't have been a hallucination in Snowy Mountain Syndrome.

I like to think she's pretending she doesn't know about all the paranormal stuff because it'd ruin everything. There are some hints to that too.

Isn't it implied that the two are dating at that point, so she wouldn't really care?

Would you rape god?

You might be thinking of College Haruhi, but this was present (+one month) Haruhi.

But Kyon and Haruhi hang out all the time at that point, it's really not surprising she wouldn't react too much. They're close enough for Kyon to jump out of a window and try to cushion her fall with his body.

Also, in this scene she concluded it was a surprise for her birthday (or was it the SOS Brigade birthday? I don't remember) so no dicks out allowed

which one of the books is this in?

Does anyone have a summary as to what's happened so far after the anime?

The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya (vol 11). It's in the 10th book (which contains 10 and 11)

Oh was it? I guess I should read surprise again since I thought it was college Haruhi.

10th

that'd be long and spoil it

>that'd be long
Yea, I guess. Going to check the wiki to see if they have anything.

>and spoil it
That's a given.

ah i haven't got there yet

would totally rape haruhi though

>would totally rape haruhi though

TFW Sup Forumsnon assumes Haruhi wouldn't kick the shit out of him

contrast this scene with that scene in the Disappearance when Kyon is watching her sleep

what does it MEAN?

she's my wife

If I remember she is shocked initially, but its the SOS anniversary or something so she probably just assumed they were trying to surprise her.
The two also have a history of getting physically close while the other sleeps.

growth

She's so cute. Why can't this story just end already? I want to know how Kyon and Haruhi will end up.

>I want to know how Kyon and Haruhi will end up.
Going to the same college. Inevitable marriage is inevitable.

Maybe that's the reason Tanigawa put that scene in the last novel, to give us no doubts about their future, without having to write another novel.

At this point it might be best to try and move on. Another promising series with no conclusion.

>Haruhi put one hand on my shoulder, its power causing a slight change in my lower region.

Every time.

This series won't ever find a proper end as long as Tanigawa doesn't do something with Haruhi's powers.

I mean, how the fuck can Haruhi be in college as a normal person with her subconcious god powers? She needs either get rid of them, or lock them off forever.

And the best way to do this is, first and foremost: To be concious of her powers. You know what they say, the first step in order to solve a problem is to admit you have them. And Haruhi sooner or later will find out the true.

Tell me, how the fuck can Tanigawa have a writer's block with such an inmense range of possibilities that the simply idea of "Haruhi realising she has god powers" offers?

In what universe a new novel starting with that premise will not make Japan and the fucking worldwide fanbase explode from the hype? The new novels will sell like hotcakes, and anime will start again most likely.

But Tanigawa is just a lazy hack now. Sadly.

He already started going there. The resolution of Surprise was (actual spoil) Haruhi mastering her power well enough to take calculated moves while still remaining unconscious of them, protecting her mind from all of this mess
If there's a continuation, Haruhi wont fuck shit up with her powers unless there's a REAL good reason for that

Well remember that Haruhi's powers can be transferred and borrowed.

...

The events of surprise suggest the transfer and borrow all happened due to inner Haruhi's consent.

There's a second conciousness on the back of her mind orchestrating things.

But she still doesn't know she is a godess, that's the point. She NEEDS to know the truth and face the reality one day, with the risk of fucking up the entire universe in the meantime, yes, but that's the only way she can do something to one day be just a normal girl, living in a normal world, with normal friends.

As long as she doesn't know, anyday she can create a gigantic black hole or something that engulfs the entire universe into the oblivion. She is still a time bomb, which the three factions (aliens, espers, time travelers) are trying to disarm.

11 novels and Tanigawa just kept the status quo, it's time for a fucking change.

...

Nagato did this is dissapearance, didn't she?
To create all that fake world.

The point is that she never accepted supernatural shit because she didn't really want it but to look for it. That's why she refuses to admit they exist when they're blatantly around her.

>As long as she doesn't know, anyday she can create a gigantic black hole or something that engulfs the entire universe into the oblivion. She is still a time bomb

The point of Dissociation and Surprise was that despite Sasaki seeming like a better choice for a power holder, Haruhi is perfectly able to do it and maybe better than her. Since Disappearance, Haruhi's psyche and maturity have been growing steadily. She's grown big enough to handle the scary stuff. It's a metaphor for her mental state and the things she creates around her.

Thank for spoiling the season 3 that will eventually come.

Much better than the usual thread though.

>season 3
It'd be in S4, user.

more like in movie 3

>haven't read the novels because ive been waiting for a new season

Im a fool.

Have you worshipped your true goddess today?

if season 3 is 26 episodes maybe.
Really makes you wonder how the alpha and beta timelines would be adapted in a series, or especially a movie.

Go away Fujiwara

>152375942
It's simple as Kyon tells her: I'm John Smith (like he did in disappearance). Or say something like: Hey Haruhi please, concentrate with all your soul, convince yourself you can do anything for a second, and wish pigs can fly or something imposible. Repeat the process if necessary.
Then look how she realize the fact she caused that, and for once and all, accept the reality.

The difference with Sasaki, is that she always might be aware of her powers if she have them. Then she can get rid of them anytime. Haruhi is maturing but she still doesn't know shit. She is still like a monkey with a knife.

Sorry, fucked up the quote.

yeah

she wont comply / it wont make anything extraordinary happen

she just doesn't want to end the fun yet; and not only Kyon but everyone is positive she's no longer a danger

plus powers might be useful in case shit happened

Fuck Kyoani for getting my hopes up.

>Haruhi is maturing but she still doesn't know shit. She is still like a monkey with a knife.
But the only real danger while she's unaware of her power is when her emotions go haywire, thing that's becoming unlikely as time passes. Unless something fucked up happens the world won't see it's end, and even if it does it might be something that makes her actually wish it that way.

Yasumi sure was a qt

bruh she anticipated an incoming threat and tore the timeline in two just so she could deal with the details and even had the luxury to do that more or less unconsciously because she doesn't want to acknowledge that world
I don't think handling raw emotions is a problem at all now, also iirc Koizumi said her powers were vanishing and didn't show up anymore except very rarely when she had nightmares

That's the whole point, before that the Celestials were burst of angers and violent emotions who literally destroy the world, now they're life savers who serve and protect alongside her other allies.

To be honest, it's more likely we'll see her animated in Yuki-chan S2 than Haruhi S3.

That's simply too irresponsable. It's like playing with uranium because you like the cute green color.

The factions, the SOS dan, or even Kyon needs to do something one day, not only for the entire universe's sake, but for Haruhi. If someday something really bad happens (like someone close to her, dying), she will probably calls the armageddon right away, regardless of her mature state of mind.

>that doujin where Kyon fucks Haruhi and she keeps turning into Yasumi
Pure fucking brilliant.

The narration says otherwise. You can formulate hypothesises about how the SF stuff works based on what little we know, but what matters is the story tone. Everything, from Koizumi telling the powers are vanishing to Kyon saying multiple tmes he trusts Haruhi wouldn't do anything bad with them and doesn't want the transfer to be done to Sasaki, passing by the unity the brigade shows in Surprise or Haruhi being surprinsingly okay with Mikuru leaving the club next year, it all means this : The brigade grew, Haruhi grew, they can all deal with that together. In fact they're the more level-headed ones here since Fuji wanted to change a timeline for his own sake.

>Yuki-chan S2
This isn't real is it?

I'm pretty sure that if someone stabs Kyon in front of Haruhi's eyes, she will erase the entire universe asap, out of raw anger. Hence, how can Kyon, and everyone be ok with that? That's the real trouble here.

Maybe Haruhi, as you said, unconciously is protecting all her dear people but, everything that it's done unconciously can be fail one day. Like with a really realistic nightmare for example, or a strong emotion. I can't help but to feel that it's too risky to keep your arms crossed in that eventuality.

That was what I was getting at, especially the part about the powers vanishing.

>giving nigh omnipotent powers to a human
>not irresponsible
Shit nigga, they may be playing with fire for a while, but it's on the way to disappearing completely if they keep the status quo. But if you give her control over her powers and she gets corrupted by them there's nothing that could or would be willing to stop her.

>she will erase the entire universe asap, out of raw anger. Hence, how can Kyon, and everyone be ok with that? That's the real trouble here.
You're quite bent on her ending the world, normally one would wish the worst towards the aggressor, not the death of everyone on earth. They just gotta stick with it until she loses them/they get transferred.

Speaking of destroying the world, Haruhi Samidare spinoff when?

I'm pretty sure this whole discussion is useless, since she gets to know about them anyway, or how else would she be so composed while seeing the same person in two places at the same time?

>Haruhi
>Samidare

I'm not saying Haruhi has to conciously control her powers, in fact that could be even more dangerous because it would overwhelm her, I'm just saying that the thought: "Hey dude, relax, she is inoffensive now that finally matured" is a plain mistake. And even Tanigawa is wrong if he think he can end Haruhi with just a: "Don't worry dear readers, Haruhi is no longer crazy and she will die without doing anything unconciously dangerous".

Yeah: Unconciously.

That's the fucking word that triggers me. You CAN'T control the subconscious. You can't say it will be fine forever. As you said, maybe Haruhi won't wish the inmediate pandemonium, but even if the killer is crushed by a cement truck, the long-term consequences of something emotionally extreme like that, will be weakining her state of mind, and maybe one day she will wake up with the left foot and the universe will implode.

How can that be a good ending? Seems just lazy.

>Haruhi is no longer crazy
She never was in the first place. She just needed to be with the right people.
Haruhi's powers are a representation of her mental state. You don't have to take them 100% literally. If she grew and they're vanishing, then it's good.

If that's the case, at least make it clear that she's pretending in a final novel. But anyways, I can't swallow the idea of a proper ending without having just a powerless Haruhi. She needs to turn into a normal human someday to be happy and all the pink shit.

They're pretty conscious that anything like that may happen, that's why they still keep observing her day and night.

>Haruhi is no longer crazy and she will die without doing anything unconciously dangerous".
I'm not sure if you're willingly ignoring the rest of the posts but they just have to keep that surveillance for 4-5 years at most, like they've been doing already. After that she's as likely to destroy anything as a girl her age.

>at least make it clear that she's pretending in a final novel.
That I can't help you with, nigga just won't finish the damn series. But she doesn't need the powers to know hell happened more than once, although who knows how the author will deal with that, or if he will deal with it at all.

No I just said it's more likely than Haruhi S3

Nah, Tanigawa simply chose the laziest option: "Haruhi is growing, she is stable, nothing will happen (college Haruhi scene), the faction will continue to watch her but they'll get bored eventually when nothing interesting happens, she will marry Kyon and happy ending for everyone"

With the sole exception that, all of this, could have been stated in a proper conclusive novel and not as a mere speculation from the readers.

It's like saying, a lot of things might happen now but let's simply pretend just the better happen and assume that's the end.

The scene with college Haruhi was the anti-laziness insurance Tanigawa wrote in case he didn't feel like continue writing. Fuck this guy, seriously.

What's his endgame?

He's worse than Watari. The mother fucker needs to just give me my ending already. I want to see Haruhi and Kyon happy.
Haruhi.

>in case he didn't feel like continue writing
But he did write more. ;_;

Kyon

>Random Numbers
Only because he was obligated to, as it was the 10th anniversary.

>expecting relationship development of any kind from the chinks
Nothing happened because the virgin writers have never been in a romantic relationship with a sentient women so they don't understand how it works.

>chinks

I went and checked both translations, Asahina holds the opinion that their powers diasappear eventually in both translation but Koizumi's is another matter I think.

fantranslation
"When I said that Suzumiya-san may be gradually losing her power that might not have been
wrong. As she matures, there is the potential that she may be able to control it emotionally. That would
explain the intellectual actions of the . Since she's been able to unconsciously control it up to
118
now, her power has been fierce. For example, if you take a keyboard and write some gibberish
sentences on it the likelihood of it coming true would be practically zero percent. But that action would
be easy to do. Eventually you'd be able to write without thinking about it. Disregarding perfect statistics,
you'd be able to cross over one day and become a god if you kept typing truths."
If that's true, why hasn't she gained control of her power?
"It's just a guess but after looking at her psychological state her power would be considered the
leftovers. Despite that her power resembles one similar to a god's there's still much left over that she
can't control. Just look at legends from humans past. Gods' powers and words were strangely fickle and
at times irrational. One can't say that they always treat humankind kindly. Occasionally they had to
remind our faulty human race things they should be doing. But gods are only what human myths
produced, thus the appearance of gods on earth are shaped wherever those legends are."

pic related is Yen press'
Although I'm not sure if I see them different because it's late, I'm an ESl or they just are.

Random Numbers made my heart hurt

You guys know that was more than likely just a story that Kadokawa had submitted but not published right?
Or a story he wrote long ago but only just sent in when requested.

But the Noizi art was new. Pls don't ruin my dream.

He looks so old there

Why do people want S3 more than a continuation of the novels?

New haruhisky where

I want both, but actually at this point I want a novel more

Why did he act gay in yuki-chan? There was a reason in the original series

Actually it's all in Kyon's control on who gets the powers.

Getting cucked.

What was the 3 numbers they mentioned there anyway?

Haruhi's 3 sizes?

This. It's been quite a while now I'm getting worried

...

She didn' react because she knew he wouldn't do anything.

>We will never see college Haruhi
Why oh why didn't they have Noizi draw it, I'll never understand.

reminder that s3 never

She isn't really interested in him anymore.

Kyon is gay.

TAAKI

It seems so...

If fact, that lead me to think the "powers" were given by the data entity (Nagato's faction). If not, how would you explain she could practically borrow and control them as she pleased in the movie?

Speaking of destroying the world, Haruhi Samidare spinoff when?

There was a really good theory I read here.

The Nagato's entity is stuck, and they're seeking for one clue that helps them to keep evolving (that is what she said at the end of the first novel). That's why they're observing Haruhi.

That being said, the plan of the data overmind was to chose the better candidate of the earth, the wiser one, and watch it closely in order to learn something. But with the important detail that, this particular person will be granted with "god powers" so he/she can lead humanity to the next step and accelerate the process. In other words, seeing us evolving as a species could also help them to evolve.

And that person wasn't Haruhi. Was Sasaki.

The thing is that Sasaki didn't want these powers (although she was just perfect for the job, in fact she always seemed almost like a genious in the novel), and she transferred these powers to someone who wants them (Haruhi), of course, she erased everyone's memories, even herself in the process. That explain why she has her factions, and those empty closed spaces. These are just a remanent of her old "godess" time. The tanabata explosion was the exact moment when this happened. Isn't coincidence that the Asahina faction said that nobody (even the Nagato's faction) can travel back in time before that event. Sasaki did everything to perfection.

And now the Data overmind is watching Haruhi and they don't even remember why. The plan backfired badly.

Kyon is gay

So he'd seem like he was the same character. It's just bad writing

Haruhi's an actual God. Can you imagine just how many horny teenage dreams it is that she's had that've been subconsiously manifested and have caused her to wake up with Kyon mounting her?

Too many. It no longer fazes her.
