How do I go off grid?

Not a criminal or anything but I want to get OFF this ride. I'm currently addicted to the internet any my smartphone. I think its making me dumber and making me lose ambition.
Sup Forums, FB, Instagram, Youtube, Reddit are my current addictions. Not addicted to porn though.

How do I fix myself. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams and I was an individualist. Now I'm 30 and find myself breathing through my smartphone. Please help open to all suggestions...

Shut off your data. Make it so you can only be connected when WiFi is around.

Believe me, user, I know this feel. Sup Forums has made me dumber and caused my work quality to decline before.

uh....maybe try not asking the internet for help getting off the internet. a bit of a catch-22 you've found yourself in here, amigo.

just get off the internet.

First you have to establish to what extent you want to go "off grid". That term is currently reserved for those who are not connected to an electrical outlet.

If you lived on the road like I do, you wouldn't be able to use the internet much. You would go from place to place and connect when you get there. You would spend your time wisely by watching things that truly stimulate your mind and cultivate your happiness. The problem isn't the internet usage. The problem is what you're browsing, and that links back to what you're interested in.

So my advice for you is simple. Don't worry about going off the grid. Worry about cultivating your own interests. Just like if you watch rape porn too much, you can become addicted or need some sort of violent release when you beat off. Well, you can trick your mind to like just about anything. Put it into motion and manifest it.

Also, it would help if you established some sort of limit to your internet usage. If you're 30 years old and you can't find a way to be responsible, you're a fucking dumbass and you should probably choke yourself out of existence.

Get a hobby that's outside.

>How do I go off the grid.
You don't.
Unless of course you are comfortable with living 40 miles deep into a forest with no utilities and luxuries.
But unfortunately for you, that only works if you spontaneously decided to do that, cut all of your ties, tell no one where you are going, and basically just trek into the forest leaving no trace of your path.
Even then, you would have to be completely self-sustainable, which is really difficult if you don't have formal training.

So yeah, ultimately, you do not.

That's actually genius but I work from home so wifi is always around. When Ido go out of the house for gym, grocceries, a friend meeetup or movies, I keep checking my phone like a droid idiot with 2 digit IQ.
Easier said than done

Buy the biggest sailboat you can afford after buying the equipment. If you have the proper gear you can live out there indefinately. Living off the grid is illegal almost everywhere.

I'll entertain the contradiction of sorts a bit.
First and foremost: Put your phone down.
Second. Begin spending a set amount of time outside. It doesn't matter if it's cold or hot. Just go outside and wander if nothing else. When I was younger I would run all over the woods around my home. Every path, woodlot, field, stream, river, and pond, was embedded in my brain.
Third, set yourself a set amount of time you'll be on your phone or computer for non work related matters. Give yourself maybe 2 hours a day at minimum beginning, and bring yourself down to the pint where you can set your phone aside and not even notice.
four: Save up a bit of cash and go travelling. It doesn't have to be far really. Just get in your car and find a place nearby you've never traveled before.
Bonus points: Go find a local area where people hang out and socialize a bit.
next: Find an outdoors related hobby. I like fishing and hunting. Bonus points to me that I live right on a lake. During the summer I take my boat out and explore as much of the lake as I can. My phone comes along, but only for the sake of being reached should I be needed for something important.
You'll find that as you grow more attached to the outside world, your bond with your data and social media will become less and less.
Next: Write about what you do. They don't have to be long or in depth. Just capture your thoughts and feelings as you wander around and discover the local sights.

This is the best advice I can give.
I'm balanced at the moment between laptop life and the outside world. I am lucky to be employed with a company that brings rural internet to people. It allows me to get out and meet others while doing technology related work. It doesn't pay much (800 a week before taxes) but it connects me to others.

I'll hang out on this thread for a bit. But it might be snowing soon, so I want to at least go and watch it snow for a bit.

>Just like if you watch rape porn too much, you can become addicted or need some sort of violent release when you beat off.
Not at all how that works.
People become rapists, torturers, murderers for lots of reasons, very rarely are those reasons that they found some snuff porn or bondage on the net.
Typically its from some trauma, neglect or abuse from when they were children.
There is a series right now on Netflix about when the FBI started classifying killers based on why they became who they are. Real interesting stuff.

Buy bitcoin and get a vpn

>ditch smartphone and get an old button phone if you really need it
>delet everything you can on all social networks and stop using them
>dont use itnernet except for business
easily

>I was an individualist
dont be that

Great advice here, folks

Think I might go for a fucking walk, myself.

I'm interested. How do you manage to live 'on the road'?

Truck driver sounds like.
I almost became one myself.

start by deleting facebook and stop using reddit
instagram hoes are ok.

fuck, this is good advice.
i'm going exploring tomorrow.

you have to drop it all, ima do it soon.
fkn internet is not the same, is boring it is a shill central it is used for propaganda and indoctrination it is a literal waste of fkn time.

Probably a good option. Except I hear they are way to stingey with deadlines so drivers end up having to use drugs to make it on time. Dunno if that's true.

Here's a small little motivation.
Where I live, I'm one of the few occupied houses in the neighborhood. The rest are peoples vacation homes. Which means when it gets cold I essentially have the neighborhood to myself and can happily take pictures like this without stepping on toes.
There's nothing special about this picture. But I find it to be pretty in its own right.
I just took this 5 minutes ago fyi...

I envy you anons,i live in a fucking shitty part of the culturally enriched areas,I fucking g hate going out,so much so I only go shooting or training after work since if not for an absolute need i can't find myself to go out of home.

This TBQH

If it makes you feel better, I used to live in Maryland which is about as diverse (Read crime ridden) as it gets. I left there after a bad relationship came to a close and moved back to middle of nowhere Ohio. However, beauty is there, you just have to seek it out. It exists in all things, even the most mundane sorts.
You make your own awesome sights.
So get the fuck out there and make it a good one.

Here's what the place looks like during the winter. Yes. The water is entirly frozen over (I am too much of a pansy to walk on ice)

You can't if you want to live in a city. There will always be residual connections out of your control there.

look behind you

bit late for that. I already threw the duck in the water(Yes, there was actually a duck behind me when I took that picture.)

Little fucker never saw me coming. Stupid ducks. They attacked my cat once.
Once

culturally enriched with niggers or sandniggers?

Go live in the hills in a legal State and grow ganja.
Pan gold for extra coinage.

Can you explain a bit more why its illegal in the states to go off grid. What happens if you try to?

Move to new guinea, buy a bunch of iron supplies, marry a local up in the hills, live as a farmer for the rest of your life.

Turn it off. Put t in you car. Read books in your spare time. Run.
