You have to go out of your way to hear about or see soccer in the U.S., except of course for the World Cup where we hear about it but no one really cares. Because no one cares, no one bothers to get good at the sport. It really is as simple as that.

I am sure there is lots of talent, but they simply don't get enough support or don't get the chance to play for a good team, so they will never make it to the national team either. For their NT they also rely on some dinosaurs past their peak. In other countries most talented players get all the support they need, get sent to training camps with the big clubs, etc. and have the chance to further develop their skills in the divisions they belong to, work their way up and ultimately get a spot in the NT.

People find out I was too young for the team and they had to get rid of me.
Later in college, I go and stay in germany for 2 years. Every little village had their own team, with a youth, casual, semi-pro, and pro levels, that locals can try out and play for, for fucking free.
