Are they still in chapter 4? The pacing is so slow.

Shimada mindraping Rei is one my favorite moments in the series

too bad he ends up being a jobber

Best boy.

Isn't his only loss in the entire series so far against the end boss?

damn, at least i'm not like him yet

AOTY for 2 years

DEMO

DEMO

A jobber? He beats gotou ass too.

Dropping this shit fest.

>doesn't get best girl and loses her to some old nerd yakuza.

>loses his family

>loses his 2nd family

>loses fight over best girl

>loses 3rd best girl to baseball Chad

>loses matches constantly unless it's against old senile men

Is this kid ash ketchum jr?

This kid is supposed to be a prodigy and all he does is constantly lose if I wanted to see that I would just watch my own life

that cat has seen some shit

She doesn't actually love the baseball kid, she's just a fangirl. And he moves away anyway.

The series is more about living with depression early on than anything else. Once he starts to get his act together the story expands to other plot points.

>3 anons
>not 3ons

Fuck you.

>Isn't his only loss in the entire series so far against the end boss?
He also lost (by the skin of his teeth) to Yanagihara, which is the only match of his we've seen since Souya, thus that guy's jobber comment. I assume he'll catch a break soon.

>tfw animefag who thought Rei would win for sure because muh revenge until the last minutes of the previous episode
Huh.

Really not sure what's the point of watching this kid lose all the damn time.

It's just not fun for me.

This is his lowest point in the series. His life takes a turn for the better after this and he gets much stronger a sa person and shogi player.

He wins pretty regularly, I'm not sure what you're on about. You want him to have no problems at all sweeping his way through the entire pro shogi league, or what?

It's a character drama not a shogi shounen.

Rei should just make a nice and loyal girlfriend and half of his life problem would be gone.

Meh. I wasted too much time on this already. I'm sick of the

>keep watching it gets better meme

What's even the point of building up all that tension that he will go head to head with the guy raping his sister if they are just going to blueball the viewer.

Not really into torture porn. Rather just watch something good.

That's what he's looking for in Hina-chan.

>What's even the point of building up all that tension that he will go head to head with the guy raping his sister if they are just going to blueball the viewer.
>the guy raping his sister
You're fucking retarded.

Yeah, if anything it's Kyouko who's trying to rape that guy.

The whole point is that he's being a faggot by building that up in his head and ignoring everything else.

I demand Momos.

>torture porn
What?

We're 14 episodes on the series, if you really think it's bad you really should stop watching.

>Not Hakari
DROPPED

Go ahead and drop it, Rei and "Hakari" were never interested in each other that way. She's a chubby-chaser, for one thing.

>She's a chubby-chaser
>Rei attempts to hook her up with Shimada
>Rei trying to make Hinata his waifu when she's completely oblivious
The more I think about the manga it just makes me wonder if Rei is just clueless to everything outside of shogi.

I mean that's all he focused on for his young life

>He actually lost
That was great. I was fearing he would recover at some point to make a bullshit comeback, but he really lost that game.

Rei seems slightly autistic, probably inherited from his dad who also had some autistic mannerisms. Some level of autism is probably required to be something like a shogi pro. Rei seems to have been deeply socially awkward his entire life.

His social ineptitude will probably make his relationship with Hina crash and burn. I have known a lot of autists in real life who build up imaginary relationships like that with girls who show them some affection, and it never works out for them. I hope the author can give him some realistic happiness without breaking his heart.

this show hurts to watch and i don't know why
i almost cried watching this episode

Kiriyama sure is a fast runner.

Running in place is clearly intentional symbolism on Shaft's part to represent how Kiriyama's life is in stasis.

YOU JUST DON'T GET IT

I just want Hina lewds

>we will never get HanaKana acting out the suicidal depression and murderous rage that comes later on

...

I feel like I should read the manga. It won't make me suicidally depressed, will it?

I've got a feeling that the anime will end before he gets that far though. Unless they go for an anime original ending or something.

The mood hits some pretty miserable lows and there's an especially rough stretch that involves Hina's friend being bullied into healthcare and the bullies turning their attention to her and the girls' dad coming back to ruin everything but there are more high points to balance it out.

Souya is the final boss? The series keeps hyping him up as someone really important

Rei is the hero in both of those story arcs, so anons who are complaining about how much of a loser he seems now in the anime should know that he becomes much manlier later.

So, in the manga Hina becomes Kiriyama's love insterest right? No way the anime will get to that point though i'm guessing

Because it's a pretty realistic and relatable depiction of depression. It's why i really like this show, it's really relatable and honestly not that sad. It really makes you appreciate the people around you that help you when you need them the most.

Yes. Rei has great taste and prefers flat, childish girls.

>night already
>everyone left
>start the game review
>recycle shots from when its still day and everyone is there

How shaft fags defend this?

Shaft is obviously having production issues. There was a ton of recycled footage for the past two episodes. I hope they get it straightened out, it was pretty annoying to watch last week when half of the episode was recap.

Hina actually reminds me a lot of my sister

I think part of Rei's attraction to Hina is because of his siscon from having a dead imouto. That's why it was so ambiguous for most of the series whether he was treating her as a little sister or as an opposite sex love interest.

Yeah, that actually makes sense.

I don't know if I'd call him the final boss personally, because I actually don't think Rei's going to surpass him, but I assume that's who was referring to.

Also, because of his social awkwardness and isolation, his only experience in dealing with females with any degree of emotional intimacy is with his sisters (both blood and foster), so it makes sense that he would use that framework to relate to Hina. That's why Akari was also fooled into thinking he only saw Hina in a sisterly way.

"Fooled" is a bit harsh don't you think? More like she misunderstood

I think Akari may have felt kind of fooled. While she wasn't upset with him, she seemed to realize after his confession that she had potentially made a mistake trusting him to spent time in the house alone with Hina, because his intentions were not as pure and brotherly as she thought they were.

JC BODY

I can sympathize with him. Moving out on your own you really come to appreciate your parents cooking for you and it's hard not to just make easy instant/frozen shit every night for dinner.

This is sort of the big turning point in the story where he starts to get his act together and stops being so depressed all the time. He's going to stat winning a lot of matches soon as well as open up to the other shogi players more.

There's not nearly enough fanservice of Hina-chan.

>that he will go head to head with the guy raping his sister if they are just going to blueball the viewer.
> the guy raping his sister

He isn't raping the sister. The sister is trying to get into his pants constantly but he treats her like an annoying little kid and has stayed loyal to his comatose waifu. He's an ass who rubs everyone the wrong way, but he seems a lot worse than he actually is because we only see him through Rei's point of view early in the series. He's a jerk, but not the monster Rei sees him as.

He wasn't really the hero of the bullying arc. In fact he laments on how powerless he was to do anything through most of it. That replacement sensei and Hina were the real heroes of it.

Go watch some shounen shit then, faggot.

Momo is so cute, but I also want to dick her and her sisters.

He was a steady, comforting oniichan-like presence for Hina throughout that arc. I thought his strength shone though, enough that he seemed like a heroic figure at times, even though he still felt helpless and inadequate on the inside.

Some episodes really lack in action.
This one had almost nothing happen.
>kirikiri loses and...ed starts

It's just not fair

It's Shaft 2-Cour Syndrome

Play with Momo and when she goes to bed, dick the sisters. Nothing wrong with that.

I completely forgot I was watching this. Is it two cour? I'm surprised to see it still airing.

I never thought of it that way but it definitely works.

Don't worry. Shaft seems surprised that it was two cour as well.

kek

>implying Hina loved the baseball chad

Basically.

Souya is essentially what Rei would have eventually become if he had never met the sisters and learned to open up and not just spend his life obsessing over shogi. He's so out of tune with reality and life that he's going def due to some psychological reason.

why are these threads are so dead? Did kyoanusfags/ Sup Forumsegemites got tired of muh studiowar shitposting?

i'm not watching it until BDs

I'm not really sure whether Rei would have become Souya or if he would have just broken. He was doing worse during his really depressed period, not better, and it's only after he really starts turning his personal life around that we see people (that swimmer guy, in particular) start comparing him to Souya again. It seems to me like he isn't as suited for that sort of autistic singlemindedness as Souya or even Dobashi are, who can take it relatively casually.

Best kishi.

Why is Rei so sexual?

Do not sexualize a depressed person cause its disgusting

He won't be depressed forever. I want him and Hinata to sexualize each other already.

S2's OP has grown on me, especially the last part where Rie sees hie dead family turn into the 3 sisters.
It reminds me of Sakimichi Apollon's OP.

youtube.com/watch?v=qO2fvkJXKUg

Theres very little talking points for each episode.
The mc is being slightly sick/depressed and kaikis voice actor is being good.
And the slut trio didnt get an appearance so.

Its because YUKI made Kids on the Slope's OP. She also made H&C and Rurouni Kenshin 1st OP

we H&C now

What slut trio?

...

How are they sluts?

Hmm thats pretty interresting.

>kaikis voice actor is being good.
Shaft has the best stable of voice actors. They seem to have snuck in a lot of their favorites for 3-Gatsu.

I wonder how much the voice actors benefit from being associated with shaft opposed to other way around.

I want to know Souya's past, he already looked broken as a shota but he seemed good friends with that other shogi player.

>he seemed good friends with that other shogi player
Dobashi? I didn't get the impression they were actually friends in the normal social sense - they'd played each other in matches a lot, but Dobashi's parents seemed pretty shocked when he said he'd probably go to see Souya to practice next time, so I don't think they typically talked or hung out or anything. It was more like two hyper-autists appreciating the quality of each other's play.
