/cg/ Christianity General - God Still Has A Plan For You!

ITT: All pious Christians and those with an interest in the faith are welcome to discuss all aspects of Christianity!

Quick Rundown:

>But user, why would god love me or want anything to do with me? I’ve never been to church and/or I’ve done degenerate and/or truly terrible things in my life!

We can get past that, fellow user! Consider the following:

>Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard it, He said to them,“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Mark 2 15-17

You see, it is not too late to repent of your sins and seek the love of Jesus in your life. ITT, we come together, and will help each other in any way that we can, so that we too might find inner peace, and a meaningful relationship with Christ!

For we are all lost, and previously-lost souls here in this fallen world, however if we choose to accept Christ into our lives, we will receive his blessings love.

>Sounds great, user! How should we do this?

Well, if you’re new here, I would start reading the Bible in the book of Matthew, the first book of the New Testament, which is when Christ enters the scene. It is often accepted that the KJV (King James Version) of the bible is the most accurate, however there are other acceptable versions also.

You can buy a KJV for ~$10-$25 on Amazon, or find a PDF for free, online!

Additionally, I always recommend “The Orthodox Way” as it describes the existence of God as we know him - what he is - and what he isn’t. This is an inexpensive, easy to read paperback book which is also available on Amazon!

These two things will get you off to a great start! I assure you that whatever you’ve done in this life, it can be forgiven of you. Christ was sent to us on this earth to pay the ULTIMATE sacrifice for our sins and transgressions so that we may know true happiness and eternal life, and something greater than the emptiness and evil found in this world.

I truly believe that God has a plan for each and every one of you reading this, that he loves you, and is “knocking at the door” to our hearts hoping to receive our acceptance of him into our lives…

This thread is here for the discussion of all aspects of the faith by all Pious Christians and inquirers who are of course always welcome. What’s on your mind tonight, my brethren?

Bump, God bless!

...

I'm in this group. Raised protestant but attending a watered down Vatican 2 Catholic church atm to learn mor. Nothing traditional in East Atlanta unfortunately.

I desperately want baptised and I'm not sure what to do besides start driving to a faraway trad Catholic church. I am considering checking out Orthodoxy or perhaps returning to a protestant church for a baptism... but the more I learn the more I feel a Catholic full immersion baptism is valid.

I feel lost.

PR*TESTANTS
THIS IS YOUR ONE CHANCE
YOU ARE ON NOTICE
SUBMIT TO THE ROMAN PONTIFF OR YOU WILL BE TAKEN INTO PAPAL CUSTODY

I was able to quit porn and pollution. Just wanted to add a success story just so people know it really happens.

There are plenty of fine Novus Ordo churches in your area, just explore! If you really do want to drive to a Tridentine Mass then that is acceptable as well. Try talking to a Pastor at one of these churches for guidance, you will be in my prayers tonight. Be sure to keep /CG/ updated.

God bless you, user!
The choirs of Heaven rejoice at your rejection of the greatest filth that pollutes our modern era!

Do you have any advice for those seeking to ward off lustful thoughts and actions? God bless.

For Southern Baptists.

Is Jesus racist? I want to be Christian, but all you guys are racist so I don't know if it's a good idea.

Whats wrong with Southern Baptists you turkroach nigger

uhhhhhhhhhh can I get one apostolic succession

>Yeshu ben Panthera

nothing just orthodox is better.

This is fucking beautiful.

Pray the rosary every day and petition for help from God. Also, this might not be up your alley, but on TDS they said to imaging a cackling Harvey Weinstein every time you go to do it.

I also asked for the prayers of others in the Christian general threads, so I will pray for you too.

Thank you for your kind words.

May we all grow closer to the Lord user!

Its okay user, there are a lot of less than ideal churches in this world, its only natural to feel a little run down and demotivated searching through them, if nothing else, at least you know enough to know there is something more to have - many people dont.

Well, I'm Orthodox so of course I'm going to be a little biased. We also have a very serious baptism, done in a very nice service, in the name of the Trinity. In fact a good number of Protestant baptisms are not seen as valid when converts come to join the church, but thats a bridge that can be easily crossed.

We're an extremely traditional church, at the church that I go to, we're 90+% converts from other denominations, and I wouldnt be surprised if former catholics were the single largest group.

You're always more than welcome to stop by user - is there anything in particular that you might be apprehensive of, in doing so?

Jesus allows us all to join the kingdom of heaven through his sacrifice.

Totally separate thing that the current forced multiculturalism we probably want you gone for.

fuck off muttonheads

While you are right, it is perhaps the most easily accessible bible to those looking to find God's grace. For Catholics in particular, the ideal translation is the Vulgate but that requires an understanding of Church Latin (which eliminates the amount of people that can read it).
Revised Standard Version
Jerusalem Bible
New Jerusalem Bible*
New Revised Standard Version*
Are all acceptable translations sanctioned by the Roman Catholic church. Due to this being a /Christian General/, we can't discriminate certain translations by certain denominations, but should ultimately focus on finding God's grace. But I do agree with you that it is very popular amongst the Baptists (which I do not approve of).
Although pic related is kind of racist, it explains how anyone can be a Christian.
I do pray the Rosary and have been seeking other forms of devotion, may God bless us on our journeys.

Jebus is fake and gay

Traditional Roman Catholic here:
Why does the Orthodox cross have that extra crooked arm?
And what was the most recent Ecclesiastical celebration for that faith?

GOOD! I'm so happy for you user! It is best that we turn away from evil and degeneracy, as well as we are able through a genuine effort to do so!

I remember being attracted to a fully clothed girl on the front of a magazine likely 6-8 weeks after I made my first real effort to quit that stuff. It felt good - previously I needed weimer-tier degeneracy to as much as catch my eye!

I know this is a loaded question but can someone explain priests and nuns to me? Doesn't the Bible clearly say that men and woman should go out get married and procreate. Why do Catholic couples go to priests for marriage advice? I'm Protestant for the record and no way trying to start a shit storm.

Two nights ago I started looking at Orthodox churches in my area. I'm thinking of bailing on my family Episcopal church and checking them out. Looks comfy af and I love the iconography. I get a real humble vibe from these guys and it's all families, white, Slavic families, just like me and my young family.

Last Episcopal service some broad was rotating through and got all political and I walked my wife and kids right the fuck out of there. Was baptized there and everything. My acolyte robe still hangs in the basement. It's all lesbo bullshit now. Mfw

Well, here's what I have. This is my story, posted in another thread, for whatever its worth:

Well, its a tough one. Honestly, what I did was transition from ((((((((((porn)))))))))) into jerking off without porn. This was a huge step in and of itself, and the only way I could go forwards, as I was in too deep for my week will to stop cold turkey.

So, that's what I did. I didnt change anything else, I just simply stopped watching it.

At first it was just working from the memory of porn, but even this is a huge step forward.

Later, I started to feel attraction to qt's IRL and my entire mental capability changed. I can remember a 8-10 digit string of numbers now at work for short periods of time - as long as it takes to enter them into a computer - whereas before I could only remember 3 or 4 of them at a time. I feel much sharper mentally, and the change happened quickly.

It took a while but not an extremely long time, perhaps 8 weeks until I was fully "cured" of its main effects. I remember that I brought in the mail one day and was somewhat turned on by a fully clothed yet very attractive girl on the front of a junk magazine. This was a big step forward from needing weimar-tier degeneracy to get there previously.

From there, its only a matter of either jerking it less or finding a wholesome wife and.. well, you know.

Anyway, I know that it'll sound cliche, but it really does help to pray about it. Pray for strength and focus, and accept that even if you do relapse, you can simply start over again. Every hour without that filth is a victory over the Jews, I mean the ((((((producers of it))))))) and evil as a whole.

Remember the Jesus prayer - "Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner", this repeated can drive such filth from your mind and help overpower cravings.

Its tough, but doable and I hope this will help. Good luck user, I'll be praying for you

Jesus was Anglo-Saxon.

Heres how I see it, user. God made the races on this planet, where everyone had their own place, their own sealed cultures, etc, where they stayed except in very limited circumstances (traveling, etc). We were meant to be with people of our own type, which is one reason why the ((((((immigrant)))))) communities are just that, communities - instead of assimilating with the population at large.

I dont hate other races, I dont wish them death or whatever - I simply want them out of Europe and the US.

They have their lands, we have ours.

Absolutely, user. I will always have kind words and prayers for anyone who rejects pornography. It may be the most psychologically and spiritually damaging invention of this world. We should all strive against such an evil!
i hold in my heart no hatred towards my fellow man regardless of their race, but God willed that all peoples of the earth should live in Pax Christi with each other. What we face today in historical Christendom is an unnatural invasion of heretics (islam is just arianism taken to its logical conclusion with the addition of a false prophet) and people who have a faulty understanding of the true Faith. They should be treated with kindness insofar as they accept Christ, and then returned to their homelands once the peace of Christ reigns over all the earth.

I find nothing off putting or uncomfortable about Orthodoxy. I've heard that as an American white guy I'll never fully be accepted into the community though.

Anyway, there are some near me so I will attend a service for you bro. If you have any tips on finding a traditional one I'll take them.

Please pray for me.

Why do you call yourself Christian when you follow the teachings of Paul and not Jesus? Why do you ignore the obvious flaws in Paul's "theology", some of which can be cured by a basic reading of the extant bible in his day?

Cucks.

stpdayton.org/discoveringorthodoxy.htm

What are some good stories in the bible that involve long and drawn out conversion stories?

Its a great question! The section at Jesus feet is tilted so to represent how, through God good will ALWAYS triumph over Evil (Based Jesus was incarnate so that we all might be able to acquire eternal life, thus triumphing over sin and death) and also how, now matter what happens here on earth, God will ALWAYS have the final say and the last judgement in it.

Hence, the right side is above the left!

There are also Orthodox Calendars which have all of our celebrated dates: goarch.org/chapel/calendar

It is a blessed day, user!
I'll pray for you tonight, friend. keep the Jesus prayer () in mind when you feel the urges. Don't fall into despair: man sins, as in his nature. what truly matters is a repentance, and a true desire to sin no more.

>22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Genesis 2:22-24
>He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
Proverbs 18
Priests and Nuns simply take their devotion to another level and swear chastity to God and focus their life on contributing to the church on Earth.
Look at
Also remember the Tower of Babel, as it explains why there are different races and languages. This is a clear story from God that doesn't promote hatred of other races but warns us of mixing everyone together. Doesn't mean we can't love and respect everyone however.

>I'll pray for you tonight, friend. keep the Jesus prayer () in mind when you feel the urges
>Jesus Christ, son of God, help me keep my virginity forever, amen.

...

Mh your still not selling it to me.

Guess I'm going to continue being a Presbyterian

i remember when i was like you, user

Well, I'm just a layman myself so I'm no expert on everything of course - but hopefully one of our friendly Catholic anons will be able to help you!

Ouch man, that's got to hurt, but it sounds like you did the right thing. For what its worth - my Priest refuses to bring anything related to politics into Church - he says it is not the place of a house of worship, we should surround the entire issue and work towards to salvation of all those encompassed within it.

(For the lurkers, this does not mean we are not expected to be political in our own lives, simply that we separate earthly political matters from where we worship)

Whatever happens, I sincerely hope that you'll stop by one, we pride ourselves on traditionalism and history. I too really like the big families - hope to have one myself someday! At any given week, there are at least a few "busses" like those full sized Mercedes vans that seat like 10 people parked outside lol. Several families with 5-6-8 kids, and we're a pretty small church. Is there anything in particular that you're apprehensive about, with Orthodoxy? I've been in the process of converting formally for about a year, so if I can help with anything, I'd be happy to.

WRONG WRONG WRONG HERETIC HERETIC

Saint Irenaeus of Lyons Against Heresies taught by Saint Polykarp who was taught by Apostle Paul
2.13.1
>He did not teach us these things as being opposed to the Law [Torah] but as fulfilling the Law, implanting us in the varied righteousness of the Law. That would have been contrary to the Law, if He had commanded His disciples to do anything which the law had prohibited.
2.13.3
>The Father, “who maketh His sun to rise upon the evil and the good and sendeth rain upon the just and unjust.” How these [precepts] as I have already observed were not [the injunctions] of one doing away with the Law[Torah], but one of fulfilling, extending, and widening it among us.
2.13.4
>Insamuch then as all natural precepts are common to us and to them, the Jews. They had in them indeed the beginning and ordain, but in us they received growth and completion.

St Irenaeus 4.12.3
>As in the law, therefore, and in the Gospel [likewise], the first and greatest commandment is, to love the Lord God with the whole heart, and then there follows a commandment like to it, to love one's neighbour as one's self; the author of the Law [Torah] and the Gospel is shown to be one and the same. For the precepts of an absolutely perfect life, since they are the same in each Testament, have pointed out [to us] the same God, who certainly has promulgated particular laws adapted for each

>As also Isaiah says: This people honours Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me: howbeit in vain do they worship Me, teaching the doctrines and the commandments of men.” Isaiah29:13 He does not call the Law[Torah] given by Moses commandments of men, but the traditions of the elders [Talmud] themselves which they had invented, and in upholding which they made the Law[Torah] of God of none effect

>I'm still relevant
WRONG WRONG WRONG HEATHAN HEATHAN

the episcopals are long fallen from the true church. don't worry about any sort of catholic vs orthodox debates: the only real "schism" within the true church that composes these factions is over the primacy of the Roman pontiff (the filioque is a semantics debate). find a catholic or orthodox parish where you feel comfortable and talk to the priest and the laity there to find where you fit
ah yes i too love to worship trees and rocks
you probably don't even believe that odin exists. when pressed, you'll start spouting off about muh ancestors and muh archetypes

Prayer has been helping me as well
Thankfully Ive been able to quit looking at porn quite as much. I dont really seem to enjoy it anymore. Other day I was watching it but, it just didnt seem as "nice'' as it used to, just seemed unclean and wrong. Found a picture of a fully clothed chick and oddly enough it was way more attractive.
I've had a bit more of a relapse on the fapping end but still, not liking porn as much is a boost and I'm happy the Lord is helping me with that.
Lord willing, someday I'll be able to quit all of it

It really depends on how truly ignorant they are

If it helps you - I think this depends on the church a little. Some ethnic Orthodox churches - this might be an issue with - but my church is like 98% white, and english speaking (although some of the families speak Russian or whatever amongst themselves, the entire service is in English and everyone there speaks fluent English, even as a second language in maybe 20% of cases)

I go to an OCA (Orthodox Church of America). I think these are exclusively or almost exclusively engligh speaking, but dont quote me on this.

Especially if you're around Atlanta (I think you said) I would be amazed if you couldnt find a White, English speaking Orthodox church there.

But this is a very valid concern - perhaps you might consider emailing the church you're thinking about going to, just to make sure English is common there? I know of a Greek Orthodox church near me, where I'm told some parts of the service are in Greek.

Really the only thing I could say is dont take communion! You likely already know this, but unlike many Churches, we're closed communion - formal members only.

But aside from that, not much to worry about! Just take it slow and enjoy the service. I'll pray that things go well, fellow Christianon!!!

I was waiting for it! Now Christcucks, look at that names Derrick Sherwin Bailey.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Sherwin_Bailey

> English Christian theologian, born at Alcester in Warwickshire, whose 1955 work Homosexuality and the Western Christian Tradition paved the way for the production of the 1957 Wolfenden report and for the Parliament of the United Kingdom's decriminalization of homosexuality in England and Wales a decade later.

>Odin was a faggot! God allows faggots! EVERYBODY GETS TO BE A FAGGOT!!!! QUEER MY CHURCH UP!

bahahaha do you people even check your sources? The same guy that fought for the church to become faggotized is the same guy your citing as evidence of pagans being fags. Can you show me a saga or tell where Odin does this? Protip: you can't. He says they exist and they don't.

You know I should really mention it turns out all the Church Fathers basically admitted adn even depended on the fact that Jews at large are really JEws of Israel. All their Contra Jude books are full of old testament verses criticizing them. This is through out the CENTURIES. Some are not of course, it's like a club and people want the perks but if you want to be an Orthodox "all about Tradition" The Church Fathers east and west before your schism took it as a fact of life. Most of their theology on "true israel" really stops making sense otherwise. I know it sounds SAD but it's the truth

Not in Canon Law. Pick related

wot

Yes! If I'm understanding what you're looking for. Here is part of Acts 17, where Paul the Apostle evangelized to the Greeks:

Paul in Athens
16 Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols. 17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there. 18 Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said, “What does this babbler wish to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities”—because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection. 19 And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting? 20 For you bring some strange things to our ears. We wish to know therefore what these things mean.” 21 Now all the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there would spend their time in nothing except telling or hearing something new.

Paul Addresses the Areopagus
22 So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,[c] 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. 26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,

27 that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, 28 for

“‘In him we live and move and have our being’;[d]
as even some of your own poets have said,

“‘For we are indeed his offspring.’[e]
29 Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. 30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. But others said, “We will hear you again about this.” 33 So Paul went out from their midst. 34 But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.

The catholic church is the anti-christ at worst and misled at best. They actively change the gospel to make people dependent on the church instead of teaching people the actual gospel. The true gospel is that Jesus baptizes by faith, not water- that whoever believes that Christ died for our sins and rose 3 days later shall be saved, and that Jesus is the only authority in heaven or on Earth that can forgive sins. The faithful are sealed with the holy spirit until the day of redemption and nobody can pluck them from the hands of God.

Or you could trust a guy in a funny hat that says he's closer to God than you, and give him money and stuff.

Gnosticism is LITERAL early Kabbalah. PROOF HERE. Commentary on Against Heresies by Saint Irenaes

do u idiots partake in lawlessness, or do you keep the Sabbath?

Thanks user, welcome! Here, have some more book suggestions in case you're interested:

I always recommend three things, all of which are available very affordably on Amazon:

1) "The Orthodox Way" By Kallistos Ware (Introduction to the Orthodox Church & Beliefs

2) "The Explanation of The Holy Gospel According To Matthew" by Blessed Theophylact, who was an Orthodox scholar around the 600s to the 800s. His writings have only very recently been translated into English, and they are DEEP. They explain the meanings of many things in the book of Matthew which are otherwise quite difficult to grasp, and his book, while it sounds intimidating, is actually quite easy to read/follow

3) "Beginning to Pray" by Anthony Bloom - Explains ways in which we can know God, and, well, what the title says.

If I were to help a friend or a family member with their interest in the Orthodox Faith, these are the three books that I would give them. I hope they will help you!!

>152568053
BAHAHAHA the first translation was right, and you had to go out of your way to insinuate it wasn't by covering up the alternate translations holy fuck you Christcucks are liars. Not a surprise I guess. Hey, what do the sources say about this:
>Romans 15:27
>They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.

Pay your masters fuckboys. You owe them for borrowing their tradition.

I would really like to convert to Orthodoxy, there's even a church fairly close by, but it just seems completely foreign to me. Does anyone else know how to deal with the culture shock? That's right GOY.

There's something important you're forgetting, fedora. That communism takes by force and redistributes while Christian tithes are collected voluntarily and used to benefit the local parish. It's a small, but important distinction.

WAIT WAIT I've been waiting for this

Thanks!

I'm just glad to help user, others shared the faith with me; and now that I'm reborn, I also do the same.

Posting here isnt flashy, it isnt expensive, it isnt always articulate and clean. Its just people sharing the good news of Christ with those around them, which is how the Faith was first spread back in the day. Its up to us to do the same, as we are able, to repair the damage in this world caused by all the degeneracy and filth of which we know so well.

Thanks for joining us, I'll pray that we might all grow closer to based Jesus!

user said we have entered the end times. Is it true?

Jesus Christ what is wrong with you people. Just call them a nigger

Still better than Cucklics or Protesdumps

>wot
Without Paul, you have no theology, no context as to why Jesus's ministry is important or why you shouldn't just be Jews. Seriously, stop and think for a second what you have of "Christianity" if you only have the 4 gospels, and even that's ignoring the fact that the Gospels were themselves written after Paul's epsitles and subsequent dominance in the early Christian hierarchy and that the surviving scripture is almost certainly indicative of a pro-Pauline faction.

And Paul's claims come with some serious doubts as to his bona fides. You'd expect an Expert Pharisee to know things like how blood isn't necessary to forgive/atone for sin, like he claims in Hebrews 9:22, but is flatly contradicted by things like Jonah 3:10 and Leviticus 5:11-13.

Sure showed me NIGGER

If someone could just explain the Jesuit order, the Vatican II's pedo problem, some of the sexual occult symbolism in the Vatican itself, and Mary hyperdulia. I really like the maturity and how the Catholic church developed, and the thinkers, mathematicians, physicist, poets, artist, writers, musicians, scribes, and monks it has produced. However I also feel as if the Church has a lot of elements from Roman-Greeco paganism left over and I have a similar problem with Orthodoxy and the Slavic pagan elements that are present, though again, have a deep admiration for the eastern church and how developed its dogma is.

...

>Prospered
Yeah, Pagan Europe sure prospered with its thatch huts, no baths, and no infrastructure

We're REEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAALLLY close. The third temple still needs to be built. After that the man of perdition will reveal himself to the world and the tribulations will begin. 3.5 years later shit gets crazy.

Trps of Truth

I've met some Protestants who seem to have a very respectable grasp on things. I think we should all keep in mind that this is God's decision alone, we dont actually know whether or not we'll "make it" let alone anyone else. My priest once quoted someone who said "And if you do make it to Heaven... Expect to see some people there which you weren't expecting - and expect not to see some that you were!"

I think that most protestants dont have as many pieces of the puzzle as some of the rest of us - but a handful of them to their absolute best with the pieces that they do have.

>christcucks spam self incriminating and outright lying memes on every pagan thread
>they leave the muzzie and hindu threads alone though of course
>wondering why you would have a crappy reputation

Fix your community user. Or better yet, abandon it. I actually used to be like you guys. I'd post in all these threads and actually LARP along too. But then I realized how weak the theology was, how poorly constructed the polemics were, how unstable it is. Christianity is a sinking ship and it's long overdue. Romans 15:27 was just the final straw.

I'm not going to bother finishing that pic. It was already wrong when it said the Europeans went to India. The Aryans came from east and moved west.

A lot of talk for no show

Ever since that fucking eclipse the west is on fire and the east is under water.
