Janky animation and character art from the early 2000s is starting to look nostalgic and charming

We're getting old.

Why are you using majestic plural? Are you royalty?

Yes.

It feels good.

Nah. It looked like shit then it still looks like shit.
What I miss from the 00s is the variety - now we get the same couple of stories repeated ad nauseum - cute girls do cute things, japanese male gets transported to another universe, etc.

And the soundtracks. A philharmonic orchestra did the OST for Gundam SEED. That shit won't happen again in a hurry. I listened to the BnHA OST recently, it's garbo, there's like one or two tracks worth shit the rest is generic as fuck.
Even budget shit anime used to make fat weeabs do piano covers back in the days. youtube.com/watch?v=zLFQjTvW-cI

The animation has deteriorated.
The style has deteriorated.
The narrative has deteriorated.
Anime is dead. Thank virginal otaku.

/r/ing the anime OST chart
Probably pretty old at this point, think it's from 2013.

there hasn't been any anime with a memorable soundtrack in ages. I used to think Unicorn would be one, but looking at it now, Unicorn's themes are goddamned repeated too much.

Yuuri on Ice aired just last season.

80% of that soundtrack is classical music you dumb pleb. We're talking about OSTs - Oh Es Tee. The Oh is for ORIGINAL.

Fucking low IQ retard.

Nah there have been some great soundtracks recently: IBO, Haikyuu, fucking Syakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume had a great soundtrack, Occultic;Nine. Those are all from last season.

I marathoned Haikyuu S3 yesterday. I didn't hear music - so nothing out of the ordinary there.
The OP for S3 is worse than the one for S2 as well.
And the animation was definitely bellow the quality of S2. I'm not hyped for S4, it's a slow arc in the manga and with this quality they might as well not bother making it. The money would be better used for a couple of OADs instead.
Speaking of OADs the S2 OADs have better quality than S3 as well.

It's a fucking shame.

No, the "original" means that it hasn't been rerecorded, but is the actual music that you heard in the movie or show.

None of those OST's hold a candle to the four soundtracks that SEED / Destiny put out.

IBO and Occultic;Nine do not have great soundtracks. They're not memorable either.

>No, the "original" means that it hasn't been rerecorded
You mean covered. And the original in that abbreviation can mean many things.

Go watch Symphogear.

I don't watch yurishit.
And it's not as good as this youtube.com/watch?v=_Ryyc2xF9XM
Don't bother implying it is.

>taking Symphogear's music seriously

Are you for real?

>Fucking low IQ retard.
What a great argument

That wasn't his argument.

>yurishit
You watch bait for yaoi fangirls instead? That's the only reason why SEED was popular.

IBO's OST is the MBDTF of anime OSTs.

>number one sales for nearly a decade
>o-o-o-o-only girls like it!
Your autism is only out-shined by your low IQ.

Here have some more "yaoi bait" anime soundtracks.

No it really isn't. It's not even among the top Gundam OSTs.

That would be 00 or Turn A, the Late Registration and the Graduation of anime OSTs.

No. That would be 08th MS Team.
youtube.com/watch?v=g1y6-_5Anto

What's Tusk thinking?

hell, BF's OST is more iconic than IBO's. IBO got stale after the 2nd season's OST turned out to be just repetition of S1 themes in lamer versions.

>janky animation and character art from the early 2000s is starting to look nostalgic and charming

>We're getting old.

No.

I don't miss the janky animation, but I do miss the way shows had more realistic character designs. There was something not so long ago about how current character designs make animation a lot harder due to their emphasis on weird eye features, and it certainly shows.

All of IBO's OST sounds like Meijin's theme from GBF, it was already boring in S1.

>We
Fuck you, I'll live forever.

>There was something not so long ago about how current character designs make animation a lot harder due to their emphasis on weird eye features, and it certainly shows

Do you have a link to this discussion?

New Mai Hime series when Sunrise

>people are still pretending gundam seed is good

Yeah, the soundtrack was pretty good but everything else was fucking awful.

No one said that. The OSTs and a few designs and coloring like Infinite Justice are the only things decent about it.

In comparison to what?
It has the best mecha mechanics of all Gundam shows.
>pilots are programmers
>if you're better at programming you're a better pilot
It did a lot of things better than any other Gundam show.
Is it good? In comparison to what I ask again? I mean it is a shounen mecha show. What do you expect out of it?

We can compare it to the rest of the mecha anime airing during the same year. King Gainer? It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't as good as SEED.
Full Metal Panic isn't necessarily shounen, and even then the middle of it is kinda shit. And most people watched it for the ASMR haircut anyway.
Rahxephon? Most people hated it, most japs said it's an Eva clone and didn't think much of it either.
Gunparade March? It's not bad. But, it's a bit too edgy.

So when you put it side to side with the comparable shit airing at the time, it's not bad. It's just right for the demographics it was aimed at and that's why it succeeded.

Posting superior Hisashi show.

Seed's osts were recorded with a studio orchestra. The albums recorded in London were arranged suites. Many Gundam shows had stuff like that.
Also, just last season there was Drifters, half of which was recorded with a Philharmonic Orchestra. Though you wouldn't know from watching the show, because the music was played at barely audible levels under dialogue.
I think that's the main problem with current animu soundtracks. There's still a lot of quality music but it's used so poorly that no one notices.

All the "classical music" in YOI was originally written for the show by a newcomer composer. Sure, it's basically pastiche but it was a nice touch anyway.

Also, IBOs soundtrack is shit and 00 is boring as fuck. Best Gundam OSTs are Turn A, SEED, Victory and X.

>King Gainer? It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't as good as SEED

I was being polite.
I could have just said the truth. Which is - it was top shit and so bad I'm surprised it ever got animated in full.
But I see little reason to beat a dead dog.

>Also, just last season there was Drifters
I dropped it. Maybe it did have music but I sure as hell don't remember it playing at any time during the first 3-4 episodes.

>I do miss the way shows had more realistic character designs

2004 was it's highs and lows. No grimdark mahou anime will ever have the best OST.

Right back at you.
youtube.com/watch?v=kc4joqQclws

>shounen
You don't know what shounen means, retard. SEED is not a manga adaptation, it can't be shounen.

Also, literally all of those shows you named are better than SEED, even GPM, which is pretty borderline itself (not because of any "edginess," but because the pacing goes to shit for most of the second half with the overly-slow will-they-won't-they stuff).

>not Majestic Prince
>not Ryvius

Fafner Exodus > MJP = Scryed > Ryvius = Fafner S1 > Heroic Age >>> SEED >>> Olynssis = SEED Destiny = Linebarrels

>is not a manga adaptation, it can't be shounen.
>You don't know what shounen means
Wow, your retard levels are beyond the measurable spectrum.

SEED outsold every mecha anime airing the same year. All of them. Together. Feel free to cry about it on IRC.

SEED and Destiny are some of the best selling anime of all time.

youtube.com/watch?v=rPWDijN0tJg

What always pisses me off about SEED was the mismanagement.

This series could've been a masterpiece.
Sunrise was ready to dish out the money for it but Fukuda decided to blow it all on the music.
For this reason SEED has some of if not the best music in a gundam or anime OST, however the rest of the show is still mediocre or decent at best.

Should I watch Mai Hime because of the music?
