Anyone on Sup Forums has lived in these two cities? Preferably at least one year in each.
Give me a quick rundown on which of the two is the best to live.
I know Sup Forums isn't a fan of big cities but try to be as impartial as possible. I have a feeling NYC is safer and has better entertainment options that don't surround the whole acting/modelling industry. On the other hand it seems like your money goes further in LA and even though it is car centric that also means you have more freedom to drive and park to most places as opposed to NYC where you would be more over reliant on transit?
Also this may sound stupid but which of the two is easier to socialise and make new friends in?

LA is better by a long shot
>weather
>cheaper rents
>weather
>friendlier people
>weather
>more egalitarian/less entrenched classes
>weather
>prettier women
>weather
>overall less expensive
>weather
>also better weather

currently live in NYC never lived in LA but chill with friends there on vacation. Only come here if you have money to spend if you don't have money you can't enjoy much at all here unlike LA which you can at least enjoy the weather I suppose. As for the people LA is a lot friendlier from what I see, what you hear about New Yorkers is mostly true, rude or keep to themselves. Though there are the "no go" zones for both cities, none in Manhattan however, Harlem isn't as bad as it once was. Stay away from the Bronx though. Parking, yes, unless you have parking you WILL need to pay for parking (a lot) you can't rely on finding a spot. Most people who don't have a parking spot give up their car and use bikes/public transportation or simply walk, which isn't that bad in a city where everything is quite close and the subway runs quick. Nightlife, not much for drugs so I tend to stay away from clubs but heading there as the DD with friends I didn't find much of a difference in either city both were just filled with normies trying to have a good time.

tldr If you don't have money or a sizeable income, NYC will run your bank dry.

Nicer weather sounds good until you realize that the lack of winter makes you weak. LA people come to NYC and fall apart ina year under the pressure.

Didn't spend a whole year in Los Angeles, but was their 9 months. An absolute utter and horrendous shithole.

Have even lived in Philadelphia for years, and Philadelphia is a cesspool. But it is a thousand times better than Los Angeles.

NY
>everything is expensive, even to jews
>all 4 seasons, but winter is very cold
>everyone is furious, and moves at the speed of light. Also, the funniest people.
>freakishly hot women
>best fishing
>concrete everything

LA really is better

>NYC will run your bank dry.
It sucks that every large city is this way. I love large urban areas but I always feel like an absolute pleb whenever I visit any place with more than 4 million people in it. Tokyo is expensive. Paris is expensive. London is expensive. I think the only large urban areas that are still affordable are in less developed countries like China or Russia.

All cities are degenerate cesspits.
There is literally no reason to live in an urban center.
Unless, of course, you have shit colored skin tone

NY only suits rich people, if youre middle class youre poor, a tiny apartment is 1000s a month. LA is expensive too, but atleast its a little more realistic...

>All cities are degenerate cesspits.
you can be as degenerate or not degenerate as you want anywhere. Degeneracy is a way of life not a geographic location

>There is literally no reason to live in an urban center.
Unless you work in highly specialized fields or wish to acquire proficiency in said fields

>>freakishly hot women
In nyc? In ny? Where? There one in a million here. Yes they’re here, but given how many ugly low class poor women there are, there really aren’t that many gorgeous women. You still feel the pressure of overpopulation, and if she’s hot, she has a million guys nipping at her heels

Born and raised in nyc

It's an okay place as far as safety goes, diblasio is going to fuck it up though.

>NYC
>pay 100,000$ a month for an area the size of a broom closet with two roommates
>the city all but directly incentivizes you to rely on public transit where a few homeless people set up their shit on the train next to the guy who preaches fire and brimstone from a bible
>pass some 7 beggars pretending to be disabled on the way into an office full of the angriest buisiest motherfuckers you'll ever see
>these same people will turn into completely different people after hours at the bar nearly falling out of their chairs to get that perfect comfortable position
>sleep with a spiked bat under your hammock in the broom closet
>seven locks on the door
>there's always a car alarm going off
>can't see the sky thru all the buildings unless you go to Central Park
>go to Central Park for some air
>get mugged
>can't keep up the 1200mph pace at work after day 3 on the job
>landlord kicks you out after a week without a job
>return home to the small town of your birth after losing half a million dollars in expenses
>go to sleep in your quiet bed in a town where everyone knows you failed
>cry even though your life is infinitely better outside the city

>in nyc, shopping
>on Long Island, everywhere

NYC is shit these days. It’s a playground for rich leftists and their kids

Shouldn't that LA pic B covered in smoke?

>Long Island
75% Italian Jews. bleh

>leftists’ kids
good thing they don’t have many of those

Unless you are a millionaire DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIVE IN LA OR NYC.
I have lived in both for a few months each with millionaire family members:
LA
>More privacy for the money
>better weather
>more weirdos ruined the night life
>good local food and drank

NYC
>Less privacy(you can be comfy but the plebs are ready to storm the gates).
>Shit weather in the late spring and summer.
>People seem more genuine(they are assholes but. Im kinda one too).People mind their own business for the most part.
>Nightlife is more classy but expensive.
>Food and drank expensive

All things considered LA because i dont go out more than a handful of times a year. But the libs freak me out they want my boipussy.

It’s a pretty nice place if you steer clear of greenport

mostly Italian, Irish, and German. the Jews stick to their gated communities.

>DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIVE IN LA OR NYC.
I thought there were some cheap suburbs or things such as these

Blossom ?

Fuck nyc. They keep expanding towards long island and are bringing urbanization and minorities with them. Now Nassau is made up of shitty urban nigger towns and white upper middle class towns

A- at least the North Fork is safe, right?

Long iskand girls are trash user. Yes there re rich pretty ones but they’re so out of reach again bc overpopulation. The have libraries of cock, often much older men, and even they are settling for less

Both extremely overrated.

Chicago women are fucking great. I mean you wouldn't think it since it's a city, it's liberal and all of that. But I've been to Chicago and many of the girls there are pretty damn hot. And I know some Chicagoans who say that if you ask out chicks in Chicago, many will actually say yes. How crazy, right?

>NY
>winter is very cold
>very cold
Oh, you Amerimutts crack me up.

Urbanization is still happening but city people would rather have beaches and plains than mountains an farmland so until all of LI falls upper ny is safe

Minneapolis and Fargo are both colder than most of Finland.

...

Those can go one of two ways:
They get shitty people pushed out of the inner city. Or they get gentrified and become part of the city and bring the city prices with them.

You are better off buying a plot of land and building a cuck shed and a high fence. The Social scene in America is dead. Don't expect to enjoy city life anymore.

This is relevant to him saying NY winters are very cold.. how exactly?

Living in either meme city is retards but if you are going with a general West Coast vs east coast question the West Coast is far superior

West Coast
>better weather
>better scenery
>more activities to do
>nicer and newer everything
>faster growth
>cheaper cost of living outside of la and sf
>hotter women by far
>farther from Washington DC and thus the government
>still the feeling of open opportunity and space to make your mark

West is beyond superior to the old, tired, stodgy east

You said amerimutts, generalizing all of america. Duh, I hate people who don't pay attention to what even they themselves write.

Jesus Christ so many fucking soyboys in this thread spouting bs info about NYC they learned from capeshit movies and the one day they spent in Times Square. LA isn’t La La Land either faggots.

Been here for 6 years, but it’s a lot like Sup Forums. Really hard to make it because it is VERY busy. I personally love the rush everywhere and get absolutely pissed when people walk less than 4mph around me now. Unless it’s late at night and you’re drunk it’s acceptable.

There are extremely attractive people walking around of every race, but again with the dense population of people, you are also likely o see the most disgusting people walking around too. The gap is insane. It’s very very expensive too, but you can pinch pennies and make it if you’re a poorfag. It isn’t impossible but if you want to go to skylounges and get bottle service every night then yea you probably need to be a celeb.

Weather can be shitty too, just like in most states around the country, but it’s a nice break and switches the vibe every season. Summer is probably the worst though, unless you really love the outdoor concerts. You can also travel to Brooklyn for gardens and even more summer activities.

Nightlife has a big range too. From dirty dive bars with 3$ beer+shots until 4:30am to skylounges and speakeasys all over. It’s all so close and because of subways, you never have to worry about drinking and driving.

Really it’s just what kind of life you want. If you’re an LA person, you probably should just go here. If you’re not, at least give NYC a try. It has a lot to offer and if you end up liking it, you’ll never want to leave.

I hope to enjoy some of the suburbs one day. They're great because you don't live in the city proper and depending on where you are you can still get close to nature. I went to a suburb once in Nevada and it was a fenced one, very close-knit and homogeneous community even while they were rich folks. The suburbs get too much flak for what they are

You're confusing facts and opinions, kiddo. That's not how language works.

I had some business in NYC a few months back, took the train there. Never again, I don't know how people live like that. I felt like I was stuck in a soul crushing meat grinder.
Everything was dirty and nasty, the people all seemed depressed.

>you Amerimutts

we can't all have the pure mongol phenotype

Shouldn’t have gone to the city. Some of the other boroughs are pretty good. I live in Queens and life’s good.

The suburbs are just denial. You don't want to live in the city because it's too expensive or shitty where affordable. So you try and compromise. It's like having an abusive ex boyfriend but you let him live in the guest room and have sex with him from time to time. Most suburban people from what I find want to be city people. Their kids move to the city to go to college because they are fascinated with the lifestyle they only get little tastes of. The country isnt all log cabins. You can have the exact same home you have in the city for a fraction of the price, plus land you can do a million things with, less codes, less traffic, cleaner air.

>in NYC
>using mass transit
That's where you went wrong. If you live in NYC, you need to
>1) live on Manhattan
>2) have access to taxis/car service
to retain your dignity.

apples and oranges - they have practically nothing in common, so they're hardly interchangeable and both serve radically different purposes and fulfil different needs

As I said. Americans seem to have a love-hate relationship with the suburbs. Where I went, it was a close-knit homgeneous community close to both nature and city. I enjoyed pretty much the best of both worlds although the distance with the city was more than an hour of freeway. Because people need to be close to both, nature for hobbies, city for work. And the city is either unaffordable or infested with niggers

>in reality
>live in small rural town
>see some movie glamorizing Times Square and other gay NYC shit
>”mommy I want to be rich and famous and live in NYC!”
>mommy agrees because she knows user can’t even cook his own tendies without her and just wants him to move back to his hometown
>”I’ve saved up $2k, time to move to my penthouse in the sky!”
>after realizing NYC is actually extremely popular, decides to buy a closet full of roaches
>”I have no job, but I’ll become a waiter like my favorite movie RENT! I’m sure it’ll be just as easy as in my town serving plain hamburgers to the other 7 people in my town!”
>user learns the term “in the weeds”
>user learns that his $900 closet actually has severely high crime rate because he was bamboozled by the realtor
>user gets lost in Central Park and is surprised he’s mugged at 5am
>user is tired by this point but is also a fatass so he gets mowed down by men in business suits and grannies on the street
>”WTF?? I can’t stand in the center of Grand Central and stare at the ceiling at 8:30am on a weekday? (Also people work near the Empire State Building? I thought it was for tourists like me)
>user has no friends and is surprised he makes non in NYC
>user comes home to mommy and his tendies after being in NYC for 2 days
>shitposts on Sup Forums
>his face when

The train I took was mostly empty. It wasn't the subway, Then I walked to where I needed to go from the Pennsylvania Station. If I drove there it would have cost me a ton for parking, bridge/Tunnel tolls, gas, plus the traffic nightmare.

>I know Sup Forums isn't a fan of big cities
You're right. DON'T GO TO A FUCKING BIG CITY YOU MONG, IT WILL ROT YOUR SOUL.
If you still have any desire whatsoever to live in a big city then you have never experienced they joy of the countryside. Once you've rural, there is no coming back.

> I think the only large urban areas that are still affordable are in less developed countries like China or Russia.

I've been to both Shanghai and Moscow and these are places I won't call less developed or cheap. Living in Berlin is actually much cheaper than Moscow.

if you were to speculate, how would a city person (one who'd never set foot in the country, even to visit) adapt to a rural lifestyle? or are they too far gone to ever assimilate?

I'm from NY, and I had a roommate in college, the son of the guy who created a famous sitcom in the 90's.

The difference between New Yorkers and Los Angelers are:

Someone from New York doesn't like you, they'll just tell you

Someone from LA doesn't like you, they wait, until your most vulnerable moment, to stab you in the heart.

Case in point

But the interesting thing is that John is actually where I'm from in Queens.

>many will actually say yes. How crazy, right?
imagine that. actually nyc girls have been receptive. i'm not asking out 9/10's though

>greenport

> LA
> You will hear, see, and read Spanish more than English
> Mexican shanty town that hasn't been updated since 1970
> Extremely high rent
> Extremely high cost of transportation
> Extremely high cost of living in general
> Everything is just dirty, hot, gross, and delapidated
> Everyone is indoctrinated with extreme liberal values

It's not what you see on TV at all.

> Mexican shanty town that hasn't been updated since 1970
Care to explain? Isn't LA and California in general fast growing and getting gentrified?

I heard it's just another shitty city-but, the chicks are all roasties with good dental hygiene.

if you can't find someone to fuck you in a city of million you are hopeless

Whether you're too far gone is very individual for me to try to access it from the other side of a taiwanese flip flop knitching board. I'd say slowly start taking trips to the countryside, it will naturally win you over. AND PLEASE, do not do something I've seen a lot of people do: walking with headphones. One of the greatest beauties of nature is the soundscape, do not take that off from your experience.
Begin by taking short trips to a nearby forest, river or something of the sort. After you know the area a bit plan a camping trip(with as little waste as possible, do not be one of those boomers who go camping with enough gear to go to Mars). Being surrounded by nature will naturally move you. Personally, I only started having real appreciation for it after living in a big city. I grew up in a suburb like city, not small yet not big, but when I moved to a capital I started feeling really shitty on a daily basis all of a sudden. When I got out of there and got back to my hometown it was a huge relief. When I started taking walks in the forest it was divine. How can big cities ever compete? You've gotta actively put yourself in those situations where you feel the difference. Your instinct will do the rest for you.

An hour away from the city is not the suburbs that is just a non white trash rural area. You are proving my point. And also you do not HAVE to be close to the city for work. That is how they keep people trapped they drill into your head the need to commute.

Ah, and one more thing: do not think the countryside is all about big trucks and drunk hillbillies. That's folks trying to bring the city with them. The rural beauty is about being in nature, not feeling like an entitled brat who thinks he's above nature. I know this might sound greenpeace-y, but once you're in the forest you'll get it. Way cheaper than a trip to Disney and way more worth it. I'd go further: when possible try to visit Europe FOR THE NATURE, not to go to Paris or London. There is something to be said about being in Europe, it feels like home. Being in nature in America is far better than cities, but it still doesn't compare to being in nature in Europe. It's quite a spiritual experience. Rural France for instance has a lot of great places to go to in the countryside, such as the Temple of Mercurius.

They both are garbage, BUT L.A. is the asshole of America, just total fucking dump that needs to be nuked and Im not kidding. Out of those two, go to NYC and maybe try to move later on.

I just left LA last month. Anyone going there right now is a fucking retard. When the next Northridge EQ hits (and it is coming very soon, 6+) it will not be like last time where we all came together as a city, etc. Oh no, when that happens LA is a fucking nightmare zone.

As I tell everyone who asks me why the hell I would leave LA for (middle of nowhere): 50,000 homeless people living along the LA river minimum; another 50K in the OC. Minimum. The city within a city they have created are run by the cartels and the police are terrified of them despite their TANKS.

If you do move to LA for some stupid reason:
>Buy a machete. Everyone in LA has one. If you are inclined to have proof, turn on the scanner for a night and note how often "man walking down street with machete" is called in. It's super useful and if you can't pull one out to scare off the candy kids testing your knobs, you're going to get home-invaded. (Hint: All brown kids selling candy door to door are casing the joint.)
>Stock up on water and food to survive NO LESS THAN A FULL MONTH on your own.
>Don't forget body wipes and such for keeping clean, full health kits.
>have at least several weapons (at least one long gun) and don't tell anyone about it. NEVER EVER TELL ANYONE YOU ARE ARMED IN LA EVER. When shit *starts* to go down they will be rounding up guns from the lists. Don't even go to your most local gun range or buy them all at one place. Hide them well, have lots of ammo.
>Be able and ready to board up your windows, block yourself in.
>have a fast escape for if the monkeys decide to torch your home

Shit to stock up on for trading/selling:
>Bic lighters
>tampons and fem pads
>weed (buy a shitload of brick weed, FIRE SAFE vac wrap, cut out drywall, stack in wall, replace drywall, etc.)
>antibiotics (go to pet store or online and buy up all of the antibiotics they sell for FISH) 30 of those pills could get you weeks worth of supplies on trade.

>When the next Northridge EQ hits
When the next Northridge *sized* eq hits.

This person knows the truth. L.A. is now part of Mexico run by cartels with a few wados and rich jews in very protected gated communities. When I say it needs to be nuked, Im not kidding.

You better be a millionaire... or a trained survivor.

I remember that, I was a kid when it happened. Mostly white people helping each other, it aint going down that way this time. Its gonna be a third world free for all war.

The millionaire thing doesn't matter anymore. The cartels torching the state (legal weed farms) proves it. I left because freedom can no longer be purchased in LA, not even a little. I still have my home there but I wrote it off as probably being destroyed before it is safe to come back.

LA is better just because you can easily drive out of there and visit nicer areas like Orange County where all the beach bitches hang out. Jew York seems monotonous, an entire state that wreaks of piss and niggerdom. Glad I moved out.

>freakishly hot women
Having lived in NYC and Boston I would say this about Boston girls but definitley not NYC ones
I was in NYC last summer and remarked to a friend that I genuinely didn't see a single attractive woman while I was there
>best fishing
Explain please

What you're saying applies more to East vs West of the Mississippi, not East vs West Coast

Much wisdom here

>living more than 10 degrees below the 40th parallel
literally nothing of values resides in such regions, you will just slowly degenerate and turn into a hick ape type thing being blackened by the sun's rays and corrupted by hot air see: the south

Aids is better than cancer?
OK.

There is some spic street that they protect as a landmark

La is nothing but gang bangers and druggies. Do not come here. Everything is overpriced, the cops are dirty as fuck, if you’re not in a tourist area it smells like stale piss.

>go to LA for a week
>took a little over an hour to get to a fucking Burger King because traffic
>later Katy Perry highjacks a road for her mini concert thing so when I went shopping there was insane amount of traffic and detours
>most locals didn't give a fuck about her and were actually annoyed that it was happening
>get asked several times "Hey man listen to my mixtape" but they want me to "donate" for their garbage first
>finally battle my way into a nice store
>shit's expensive
>decide to go the fair carnival thing they had near the beach after hours of fighting through more traffic
>oh wow everything here is also expensive but now it's overrun with douches trying to strike up a conversation with you and then get irritated when you just slightly ignore them
>go to old friend's house that's in a small suburb outside of the big city
>small one bedroom house with a laughable front lawn that can be mowed in under a minute, no backyard even
>they paid $400,000 for this shack and it's worth $700,000 now
>that was just day one

Every day I see Californians move to my state I die a little inside knowing they want to bring all that shit here.

Why are people in North Brooklyn so hipster pretentious and gay but people in South Brooklyn are giant Douchebags

which has hotter women?

LA if you like outdoorsy stuff and driving. Not to make driving sound negative. In LA you can get in your car at the beach and be 9,000 ft above MSL in like 90 minutes. The best hiking, climbing, camping in the country.

NYC if you’re more into arts and music and a social scene. WAY more to do in that regard. Also you don’t have to drive which is incredible. Don’t listen to the autists here who think public transit is slavery. MTA is truly remarkable.

All depends what you’re looking for in an experience.
True concrete jungle or an urban oasis set in nature.
There are pros and cons to both.

For me? Born in NY and lived in the city until 25 when I shipped out to LA. Been out here for 4 years and hoping to move back to NYC later in 2018. People in LA are vapid and heartless and sitting in traffic is a much worse form of oppression than sitting on a subway. But can’t stress enough how shitty the people are in LA

NYC is the best city in the world, don’t let anyone tell you differently

NYC is alot whiter.

They’re both gross, I’d go with LA, not as condensed but it doesn’t get the cleansing that NYC gets every winter

What if I don't want to pay $2k a month for a box to live in?

Nah east coast faggots are worse. You niggers don’t even respect the traffic laws.

>moved to Boston 6 months ago
>making a left turn at the light
>I yield to incoming traffic and I see a shitty civic approaching the intersection
>think nothing of it since the lights turned red
>begin making left turn
>I see that same faggot accelerating
>immediately slam the brakes and this faggot barely clears my car like it’s an every occurnce at east coast
>cars behind me being to unload their horns even if they saw the shenanigans
>5 fucking cars make a left turn when only 2 was supposed to clear the intersection.

Yea fuck east coast drivers. You guys turned off your brain or something

People in SoCal are junk degenerates, but that’s everywhere now. I agree with the points made otherwise, just wanted to stress that people are shit. I love New England-Maine is a happy medium between confederate and libertarian state, also very white and the pace of life is nice. Unless you live near the coast tho, it’s just white niggers everywhere

I’m in soCal now, traffic is terrible, the place is dirty as fuck, and people suck. The food is great and it’s easy to make money if you’re willing to work and aren’t a complete dunce

Has anyone ever been to Miami? Gonna spend a couple of months there in January.

La has mexicans Nyc has africans

both are shit btw. Very rude people and both hate america.

great reply! thank you, buddy

>NYC is the best city in the world, don’t let anyone tell you differently

New York's alright......if you like saxophones!

> New York's alright if you wanna be pushed in front of the subway!
> New York's alright if you like tuberculosis!
> New York's alright if you like art and jazz!
> New York's alright if you're a homosexual!

youtube.com/watch?v=2TJmF1Lo5fU

A lot (((whiter))), you mean

LA is absolute garbage, and no your money wont go further there unless you want to live in a third world barrio dump full of Mexicans. The city is also a giant favela outside of a few very rich elite enclaves tucked into the northwest corner of the city. LA is also very expensive, your dollar wont really go further there if it does at all, and even more so in many cases when you factor in the fact you absolutely must have a car to get anywhere, where as NYC is walkable and has public transit.

NYC however, particularly Manhattan, is a giant, boring, sterile Midwestern shopping mall these days. 10-15 years ago the place had its charm, now its fucking lame and gay as fuck. Its "fun and exciting" only by American standards, any other major city outside of North America will easily shit all over NYC, even a city like Bangkok. I was bored to tears there, but at least its not a dump like LA/SoCal.

t. lived in both, have friends and family in both

These

NYC women all go for that androgynous, sexless, anorexic/unhealthy, runway model look. They starve themselves to the point where they have no tits, no ass, no muscle tone and loose/flabby skin. Their "tough" masculine bitch faces knock them down a point or two even lower.

LA has cute chicanas but NYC is a lot less dysfunctional

Jews
Hollywood jews in LA
Banker jews in NY
Choose your poison.

They're both infested with useless humans, and the world would be a better place if they were both nuked. Fuck anyone who lives in either. Kill yourself.

>bring that shit here
Theyre going to bring small $700k shacks and Katey Perry with them to your state?

youtube.com/watch?v=Cd-a7ZzoWmE

I can see you've never lived in the city

...
