Don't fall for the meme. It's actually shit but people like to praise it for the memes. Just like Inferno Cop.

>Will Legend of The Galactic Heroes change my life Sup Forums?
Possibly
>Is it worth the time investment?
Yes

Fuck off, retard.

It probably won't change your life, but you might enjoy the ride.

This. It's one of those shows where their fanbase gets all defensive and say something retarded like "It gets better once you've reached a hundred episodes!"

Have you two actually watched the show or are you just shitposting?

LoGH has everything where a closet fascist would like, Autocratic themes, the over-glorification of an Empire, and huge guns. Japs really suck at making in-depth political shows. It's worth your time if you kinda enjoy stuff like that.

It's like you only focused on 1/3rd of the show and willfully ignored the rest of it.

I agree with this user. LOGH is a solid show.

Also, news about the new adaptation when?

It might make you read a whole bunch of different stuff.

The dub sucks. It's so much better in japanese.

There shouldn't even be a need to say this.

it will make you sad because you have no bros like that
its still worth watching even if you don't like it because you see origin of many ideas that went on to be billion dollar franchises and plot lines they don't do these days anymore

Not him but it's kinda hard to miss where the author's sentiments lies.
>look at this FPA, they can't even govern a planet
>democracy just make things harder
>le strong imperal discipline meme

There's a dub?

What dub?

>closet fascist
seig but I think one of the central themes is that it does not work unless you get super lucky with people involved and even than you can't succeed on idealism alone. In the end kaiser dies with bittersweet feelings of having never grabbed happiness for a long period of time and having eventually fallen into poetry slams and other habits he used to look down on his superiors for

My dad watched the russian dub, so I watched a few episodes. It's just one woman reading over the original audio.

The idealistic low-level bureaucrats of the FPA practicing civil disobedience against the occupying fascists was the most moving political part anywhere for me personally. I didn't come away from the anime thinking it was a fascist puff-piece.

If democracy worked than imps would be the antagonists. all the early years are full of criticism for the nobles and the police state. democracy does make things harder, the point is that easy is not always the best. There is also a bit about having the right tool for a right job

>goldenbaum dynasty can't govern for shit either
>most sympathetic character who never lost a battle fights for democracy
>most characters admit Reinhard is a flash in the pan and his successor might be shit

Yes

...

Well it seems like a resounding yes.
I'm gonna hop out of the thread now to avoid spoilers.
Catch you cool cats later.

If only he was here

this. also
>most characters admit Reinhard is a flash in the pan and his successor might be shit
to a point where Reinhard himself writs in his will that if the kid is shit he should not get to rule

Get out

It may not change your life, but it's one of the very few anime in existence that will challenge you intellectually and actually teach you things about political philosophy and human nature.

People that blow it up as some life-changing experience are very likely to be fellating themselves because they desire the status of an intellectual, but that doesn't mean that the anime is blown COMPLETELY out of proportion.

It's a good watch.

he could have prevented the idiocy we saw in the first reply

EVERYBODY DIES

Either bait, or it's yet another case of an assessment telling more about you than the work.

well yeah, it covers a generation so everyone dies, some of old age.

Most of them were in their 20s though. Yang just hit 30.

Plus the show also shows the shitty sides of autocratic government with all the infighting and civil war in the Empire.

>challenge you intellectually and actually teach you things about political philosophy and human nature
I don't know what it teachs about human nature, but LoGH definitely doesn't teach anything concerning political philosophy. You can find every concept introduced on that show in an 8th grader's book.

Anyone here read the manga or at least know what's happening with scans?
They appear just be re releasing old chapters.

The manga though is an exercise is poor design. Amazing how making one guys hair longer and the other have fangs changes the tone.
I just hope the newer anime doesn't go for horrible uniforms.

Reuenthal best Admiral.

there is no manga

dude, THERE IS NO MANGA

How does one show have so many great characters, while other shows struggle to have one good character?

(from left to right, the characters are in order from best to good)

...

not in my school.

>not putting mittermeyer and reuenthal side by side
What are you doing?

Even in college, most professors wouldn't even entertain the notion that autocracy and democracy have strengths and weaknesses. They just focus on democracy being better than everything else no matter what cuz 'Murrica

kreutzer's chip on the shoulder was so tiresome

And it's still one of the most cerebral anime of all time, so what does that say about the industry?

Either way though, you're speaking out of your ass because you're insecure about your intellect.

Why don't you identify some the concepts that were introduced and explain how they're taught in middle school?

You can't. It's certainly not advanced shit to understand, but if you seriously think 8th graders are being taught that shit, you're a retard.

Did not they used to ship exchange students from soviet states so they could tell stories about bread lines thus proving that murican way is the best way?

So is the show suggesting that there is no good political system?

Democracy is a good idea, but it doesn't work in practice, since men like turnith always get the power.

Dictatorship is mostly terrible, until a brilliant leader comes along.

I'm sorry.
I just thought Sieg On Space was a bit too far removed from Yuri on Ice. My bad

>Kirk Ice that low
Since I've started reading the novels I like Kircheis much more.
The attitude he takes with the lieutenant with the blown off hand seems far removed from how the anime portrays him. Yet there's Oberstein whose dialogue is almost 1:1 from the novels.

>exchange students from soviet states

>shota Reinhard looks like Tanja
kek. Is this the artist of ShiKi?

My home boy reuenthal was a tragic character who was too good for this world, got pushed into a rebellion because he was too proud to beg and died like motherfucking Tristan. A larger then life tragic hero. Mittermeyer did little to nothing.

Democracy can work if citizens take an active role in trying to keep it from becoming corrupt and autocracy can work if good leaders continue to cultivate good leaders in their successors.

>put a shitty betrayer there
HAHAHA, he not even changed his clothes

youtube.com/watch?v=OhtA67dsEOc
Im not sure if they really did it. soviets did send students into other communist and socialist countries so maybe its true. I don't care enough to google

There were soviet exchange students, but their purpose wasn't propaganda. The hope was cultural exchange and to ease/end the cold war.

>I had a shit education in school

>I can't respond to his direct question so I'll just deflect it and pretend like I'm trolling
Nice save, dipshit.

Nah man, he was a badass who never betrayed anyone. He even kept his imperial garb to show everyone that he is still fighting for his lost cause.

It's not but I really can't unsee that now.
He's drawn considerably smaller than Kircheis with bigger eyes.

For what it's worth Yang looks like any generic harem mc

>implying LOGH doesn't question both autocracy and democracy

the show is pure gold if you are alredy interested in politics before you watch it.

Here is a challenge, try watching this without crying:

m.youtube.com/watch?v=GACykwAEgts

>I'm insecure as fuck so I'll try to insult someone I don't even know about some trivial stuff
:^)

great show and I love it a lot

the 160 something episodes runtime was a genuine investment and it paid off in my opinion

i place it higher than cowboy bebop, evangelion and berserk in my personal wanna-be good taste list.

No, he just loyal to the dynasty but a traitor to the fatherland.

You seem mad because you probably learned those concepts from a cartoon aimed for japanese children.

Not him but don't use emoticon on Sup Forums even if it's ironic or fuck off

lol whatever :)

What's the highest on that list? Zeta?

Are the OVA's any good?

Best space opera:

LOGH > most of UC Gundam > SDF a Macross.

LoGH reaction images are better than the show itself.

they are ok, just don't watch any of the movies

>Macross
>Gundam
>space opera

I liked Golden Wings

It's in my top 5 with Clannad after story, GTO, Neon genesis Evangelion and GITS SAC.

>My lotgh folder has more random gifs and screencaps in than fanart
The show a gift for small expressions and out of context

What are you talking about? My conquest is a sea of stars and overture to a new war are both great anime movies. Especially the second one, since it contains some really great, almost kino like scenes.

Where is heroic age, starship operators and all the other stuff? Why is your scope so limited and basic?

alright we all know the true purpose of this thread

let's dump our logh memes

>liking worst one

>gundam
>an epic space war between multiple sides that takes place in space.
Not a space opera.

as far as I recall they are both recaps

Give me a break, I just finished my 100th anime yesterday, and I still have a lot of retro space stuff to watch.

nah

...

One was made before the show, and shows the first meeting between Yang and rainhart. The second one is a fully re-animated and improved version of the first 2 episodes.

...

...

...

...

ok but then don't start ranking them if you have not seen anything beyond the few with biggest names.

Wait, where is this from? I don't remember this scene in original show.

Watching anime is a complete waste of time tho. I've only seen 10 anime in my life and haven't even watched Bebop or Eva.

I got about halfway through and lost interest a couple of episodes after the Yang refused the chance to take out Reinhardt and the war officially ended but they were rebelling. It just felt pointless knowing that Yang could have prevented it. Is the second half better or worse than the first?

Why are you here?
>Bebop or Eva
Taking pride in having seen or not seen something that ran on cartoon network is foolish.

yeah that is what they keep saying about that brit that did not shoot hitler. I too took a brake but got back into it after few months

>Why are you here
Banter.

WAY better.

how can you banter without the knowledge? If you have not seen the product than you can't make a good bait or even shitpost correctly about it
