>Russia suspends diplomatic presence in Yemen
Moscow has decided to suspend its diplomatic presence in Yemen, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday. The decision was made in light of the situation in the Yemeni capital Sanaa, TASS quoted her as saying. The personnel of the Russian Embassy have left the country, she added. The Russian ambassador to Yemen and some diplomatic staff will be working temporarily out of the Saudi capital Riyadh, according to the ministry.

>Turkey criticizes Arab states’ ‘weakness’ ahead of Istanbul summit on Jerusalem
Ankara has criticized what it called a feeble Arab reaction to the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, on the eve of Wednesday’s Muslim summit in Istanbul. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has accused the US of ignoring Palestinian claims to east Jerusalem and of “trampling on international law,” has invited leaders from more than 50 Muslim countries to agree a response, Reuters reports. Several countries had still not said who they would send to Istanbul.“Some Arab countries have shown very weak responses,”Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.“It seems some countries are very timid of the US.”Egypt and the United Arab Emirates will send foreign ministers, while Saudi Arabia had yet to say how it would participate.

>German MPs extend military missions until spring
German lawmakers have extended the military’s participation in missions against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) and in Afghanistan, Mali and Iraq until the spring of 2018. Such missions abroad require parliamentary approval, usually on an annual basis. Since Germany hasn’t yet formed a new government after an election in September, the mandates approved on Tuesday were limited to the end of March or April, AP said. The next government is expected to decide on extending them further. The extension was approved for the deployment of Jordan-based reconnaissance and refueling planes in the campaign against IS, and the deployment of troops in the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan. The decision also concerns the UN stabilization mission in Mali and German experts helping to train Kurdish forces in northern Iraq.

>Iraq plans to join Astana talks on Syria settlement – ambassador
Baghdad plans to join upcoming talks in Kazakhstan on settling the Syrian crisis, TASS quoted Iraq’s Ambassador to Russia, Haidar Mansour Hadi, as saying on Tuesday.“I want to ask the Russian leadership to invite Iraq to attend the talks in Astana,”Haidar said at a meeting with Konstantin Kosachyov, the chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council, the upper house. The eighth meeting on Syria will be held in Kazakhstan’s capital on December 21-22. Previous talks involved Russia, Iran and Turkey, as the Syrian ceasefire guarantors, as well as the Syrian government and the armed opposition. Representatives of the UN, the US and Jordan were also present.

Most of the work was done by Persians reading greek text (or the opposite), and by literal heretic (the totality of the famous muslim philosophers where exiliated or killed for heresy). Europe in that period was basically post-apocalyptic, with no central authorities, war ravaging every country every year and an impressive demographic decline. When Europe stabilized in High Middle Ages, we started again to lead science and culture. Not my fault if your texts were written by third world lovers (like ours). At least two people have lost their lives when an Israeli unmanned aerial vehiclecarried out an attack in the besieged Gaza Strip as occupied Palestinian territories are simmering with tensions following the recent decision by US President Donald Trump to recognize Israeli-occupied Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Tel Aviv regime.
Local and medical sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Israeli aircraft targeted a motorcycle as it was travelling along a road in Um al-Nasser village.
The sources added that the bodies of the victims have been transferred to Rumah Sakit Indonesia Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip city of Jabalia, located 4 kilometers (2.5miles) north ofGaza City.
The two slain Palestinians were later identified as Hassan Ghazi Nasrallah and Mustafa Sultan.
They were reportedly members of the engineering unit of al-Quds Brigades, which is the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement.

The number of reported sexual assaults in Israeli army has increased every years since 2012, and latest figures show that there has been a 10 percent increase in the number of sexual complaints filed by Israeli soldiers this year.
According to a report published by Arabic-language Arabi 21 online newspaper, the rise in the number of reported sexual harassment cases could be attributed to growing awareness about the menace within Israel’s military forces.
The report added that the Israeli army plans to launch a computerized educational program in order to prevent sexual harassment.
All those who serve in the Israeli armed forces, from corporals to the chief of staff, will be assessed by the program at least once every year. The program will soon be installed on the computers of the army, and an application is set to be developed for cell phones in the near future, Arabi 21 noted.
It further noted that soldiers will be asked to record their personal details and pass a test to examine their comprehension. Those who score less than 65 will be asked to go through the process again.
Earlier this year, an internal Israeli army survey found that one in six women soldiers had been sexually harassed during their military service.

While 15.6 percent of respondents reported facing such behavior, the true incidence of harmful sexual behavior within the Israeli military is in fact much higher.
The figures, which relate to 2016, further exposed that 60 percent of female soldiers and officers, who took part in the survey, said there was a sexualized atmosphere in their units.
They described soldiers or commanders frequently telling sexual jokes and stories, making hurtful sexual comments about them or sharing pornographic images.
A similar proportion of respondents, 57 percent, reported receiving hurtful sexual comments.
A total of 35 percent of women who answered the questionnaire said they were touched or subjected to sexual gestures, leers or winks; 12 percent said a fellow soldier or officer had exposed himself in a way that embarrassed the respondent; and 5 percent reported being offered some reward in return for sex.
In addition, three percent said they had been threatened or otherwise treated inappropriately for refusing sex, while one percent reported being the victim of a sexual assault or attempted assault.

>Russia will keep bases in Syria to strike at insurgents: Kremlin
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia will keep a naval and an air base in Syria capable of carrying out strikes against insurgents if required after a partial military pull-out announced by President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
Putin on Monday ordered “a significant part” of Moscow’s military contingent to start pulling out of Syria, declaring their work largely done.
Putin made the announcement during a surprise visit to the Russian Hmeymim air base, where he met President Bashar al-Assad and addressed Russian forces.
“Thanks to the fact that the operation to save Syria and the liberation of Syrian land from terrorists have been completed, there is no longer a need for broad-scale combat strength,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
But he added that Russia would keep the Hmeymim air base in Syria’s Latakia Province and its naval facility in the port of Tartous.
“The President stressed that the terrorists might try to ‘walk tall’ again in Syria. If that happens, crushing blows will be carried out,” Peskov said.
Russia’s military operation in Syria, which began in September 2015, turned the tide of the conflict in favor of Moscow’s ally, Assad. It also established Russia as a power broker in the Middle East, regaining a role it had relinquished after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Assad’s opponents, Western governments and some human rights organizations alleged that Russian air strikes on Syria had killed large numbers of civilians. Moscow has denied the allegation.

The Kremlin has presented the partial withdrawal of its forces as evidence that its mission in Syria has been largely accomplished. That gives a boost to Putin as he launches his campaign for re-election.
Opinion polls show that he will comfortably win the presidential election, scheduled for March. But the Kremlin fears that, since some voters see the election as a foregone conclusion, they may not turn out, weakening Putin’s mandate.
Russia had previously announced a partial drawdown of its forces in Syria, in March last year. However, a powerful Russian contingent remained in place and there was little sign of operations being scaled back.
Back home in Russia, many people consider the Syrian mission a successful operation to restore peace - as well as an opportunity for Moscow to flex its military muscles.
The official death for Russian forces killed in combat is 38, according to a Reuters tally. That is far below the level of losses sustained when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in the 1980s, the last time Moscow waged a major campaign far beyond its borders.
However, many of the losses in Syria were borne by private military contractors working with the Russian military whose deaths have not been officially acknowledged, according to friends, relatives and colleagues of the contractors.
The Russian defense ministry denies that there are any Russian contractors in Syria.
