He's just tsundere.

Society, user.

How is he an asshole? He just has strong opinions and an uncompromising set of values.

I don't know anyone born in the '30s who isn't an asshole.

>Why is he such an asshole?
Comes with the territory of being right all the time

The whole culture of what anime has become is what he hates the most

>psychoanalyzing a man you've never met
Sounds like a great idea!

What do you think an asshole is?

He was born in the 40s.

He's the Kanye West of anime

He's a good guy though. An asshole is either actively malicious or just negligent of others' feelings.

>or just negligent of other's feelings

Well there's your answer

Except Miyazaki actually has talent.

>has to lessen your own values for the comfort of others
sjw, get the fuck out.

When he gets mad it's usually on behalf of other people, like with the whole CG-retard thing.

This inflationary usage of the term has to stop. You're making it meaningless.

He hates himself more than anyone else on earth.

>Who hurt him?
Americans.

Nips had to pay the brice of freedum

What did he say to hurt everyone this time? Was it about CG?

I'd say waiting until Tezuka died and then immediately publishing a rant about how he was vain and all his anime were shitty is pretty assholish.

>Perceived negatively by the general public but has amazing talent
Seems about right

Are you fucking retarded? Miyazaki's perception by the general (global) public is the most strongly positive of literally anyone in the history of anime/manga.

it's kind of amazing how japs turned on him for that movie about the jaapnese fighter plane.

It is quite amazing that people actually think meme opinions on the internet are representative of general opinion.

>Didn't take into account that Sup Forums doesn't actually have the popular opinion
Well now I feel dumb

>Who hurt him
America by dropping two nukes on him
>Why is he such an asshole
because america dropped two nukes on him.

They didn't though. At worst you might have gotten some Sup Forums type posters on matome sites and such shitposting about it.

You can be an asshole and be a good guy.
>An asshole is either actively malicious or just negligent of others' feelings.
Well, you see, you've got your feelings, and then you've got your "feefees".
Your feelings are related to the important things in life. Family, friends, their mortality, your mortality, your passion.
Your feefees are those sensitivities over things which you have no reason to be sensitive about. Someone who cries at the drop of a hat has a lot of feefees.
An asshole just doesn't care about the feefees.

At the very least, everyone agrees that pic related was way too far, and someone just happened to piss in his coffee that morning, right?

I think they were just some kids fucking about and experimenting with technologies for their PHD paper or whatever and he completely missed the point. He is sat there thinking of animation as art representing life in some deep sense and they are just some fucking nerds that like to code something that generates 3D animation.

He's a lolicon.

Not so long some stories from former animators who worked with him came out.
They where the kind of stories where you ended in the hospital from working too much and so probably the Gordon Ramsey of the anime

It surprises me that Sup Forums can't related to his cynicism especially his opinions on CG and robots making Anime.

Miyazaki has used CG in his own films and is making a 3DCG film currently. I'm not sure what you think his opinions are.

I think he was right and justified in feeling as he did, but was perhaps too harsh on those dudes.
Still, strong wills like his are where purity in art comes from. Miyazaki is a treasure, shitty attitude and all.

I forgot to add, if you push your workers to the point they either end depresed or in the hospital from overworking, you are an asshole. You don't care about people

He's left in the past and is trying to stay relevant.

>an anime board created in 2003 that talks about mostly concurrently-airing stuff can't relate to a guy who thinks anime went to shit decades before that
What a shocker.

Nostalgic old man that hates anything new.

Most of you fucks will end up like him someday

It's probably his mother. Look at how he's always making an effort to look proper and fatherly. We've never seen this person make a joke or have a drink with his friends.

Time

Shit like that happens all the time in the anime industry and in Japan at large. Not saying Its right, but there you go. Its seen as a sign of hard work and commendable to fall asleep while working from overwork.
Further, Miyazaki seems to care about his art to extraordinary degree, perhaps above all. This is why he's an excellent artist and storyteller. He is dedicated.
Evidently he had a "strained" relationship with his father. Could be wrong, but I recall reading that somewhere.

People on here ALWAYS complain how shit Anime has gotten.

Alzheimers.

And people on here always claim "Miyazaki was right" and shit like that, too, so what's your point? Both those kinds of people are usually met with tons of arguing and dissent and accusations of not watching enough.

Also, did you miss the "decades before that" part? The typical Sup Forums dates for anime supposedly going to shit are 1995 (NGE), 2000 (digital) or 2007 (Lucky Star inventing moe). Miyazaki thinks the industry's been trash for like 50 years.

They fucked up, they should have had some animated alien bug things instead of some gross zombie thing.

Most of the opinion on Sup Forums is just dictated by warring memes with regards to Miyazaki anyway. It is the same thing that happens with almost any large figure in anime. Just most obviously with him and yet it still works. People purposefully misrepresenting what people have said in order to further some view or agenda they have that they are trying to push. Basically to bait for responses but then you get a whole lot of people that genuinely believe that and go on to parrot it if you spam it long enough.

I've inserted false information like this into a fandom before to test it by claiming to have translated something and the source I gave was completely unrelated to the claim besides being about the same anime and having a picture of it there yet I still saw people repeating it weeks on. If you just say "Japanese person (especially if someone people like to meme about) said X" enough times people will start repeating it. It is quite shocking that if something is convenient for people to believe and fits with their preconceived notions they will take such statements as truth without being able to verify it themselves at all and start repeating it henceforth.

>You can insert false information and that will creates rumors
This is not something special from the memes or some shit, it happens everywhere in the world

It's particularly easy to do with anime though due to the language barrier.

He is the japanese half brother of Alan Moore.
Old, cynic, hates his work, hates his fanbase...They share dad but they do not know.

I don't think so. Regulars are more aware of how rare quality has been in the past and what the present is capable of.

I usually put off people complaining about "how shit anime has gotten" as crossboarders. Contrary to Sup Forums, Sup Forums actually likes the subject of its board.

Now having a strong opinion which you don't want to change and a set of your own values is being an asshole? You millennial crybabies are the worst. Go back to your safe space.

Old age you know
you'll be like that too one day user

I just disagree with him on a political basis. He presents the image of a family man and a person with traditional values and ethics. But at the same time his own workers have no time to start their own families, because they have to give all of their time and cognitive capacity back to the company. He criticises people for using entertainment to escape reality, while at he same time producing both the entertainment and the economic reality for those same people.

They showed him literal shit. What he said is mild compared to what they actually deserved. You just freaked out because you think everyone must be praised just for doing something. It doesn't work like that IRL. If you failed no one obliged to give you a fake praise just because you tried.

Most of Sup Forums nowadays is watching moeshit and harem shit every fucking season. They represent everything he hates about modern anime.

He's bitter that The Wind Rises lost to Frozen at the Oscars. And he should be. Frozen was shit.

Not him, but "this 3D animation is an insult to life itself" is pretty comically hyperbolic regardless of how bad the thing actually is.

You should try actually learning what Miyazaki's opinions are.

>basic etiquette is SJW PC censorship
Is this actual autism?

typical millennial hating old man

Working hard for little pay to master skills with the best anime artist in the world as your boss?
Some people would think of this as an opportunity, not involuntary servitude.
That it's a trade off with the other things you might do with the time should not come as a surprise.

I always thought he was full of shit because anyone who would take the sleaze out of Lupin is bound to be a real douchebag

Anti-intellectualism, rampant consumerism and catering to the absolute bottom.

Here to remind the only reason he is well known is cuz one of his worst movies won an Oscar by a fluke due to a lackluster year for animation.

And some people would say neet is an opportunity to learn new skills and reinvent yourself. Some people would see seclusion in a country home without heating as an opportunity to live off the grid and be self-sufficient. Some people will say unpaid internship is a great way to earn valueble experience, or that living in hostels for a year is a great use of time.
It's the economic reality that counts, not how the person reinterprets it.

You are discounting the economic reality though. Your services become more valuable in the future based on experience gained in the present. It's an investment. Like higher education.

autism

More like he's the Enzo Ferrari of anime.

holy shit dude

Old Japanese Man Yells at Waifus.

What kind of services and what sort of experience. In most of Europe, if you're not a medical professional or a programmer with a degree you can just go suck on a gun.

In job experience counts in any skilled field. Experience gained at a prestigious studio would make you a more desirable employee.

> Implying Sup Forums is one united faction

And what about the group of people the old man is (allegedly) talking about? What sort of skills could a neet provide?

>Lucky Star inventing moe
You fell for an ironic meme.

Nipnong Sup Forums had nothing to complain about, it was moderates that were bothered he made a movie that could be endorsed by imperialist fuckoffs.

The fact that soon he will be gone and things he made will be replaced by things he hates.

Just leave him wallow with his autistic screeching.

>old man yells at cloud

So he's the Kanye West of anime.

He likes making anime about cute girls doing cute things.

Hates CG shit.

Hates artsy anime like Your Name and Garden and such for having no substance

Hates normalfags and considers them an insult to life itself.

Daily reminder that Keit-Ai found a way into Miyazaki's cold, dead heart.

Threadly reminder that Keit-ai is now the highest grossing anime film of all time.

So does he love or hate Keit-ai?

Congratulations on not knowing what inflation is.

He's old.
