In the past Libertarianism was called "liberalism". Unfortunately the modern liberals have succeeded in stealing it's name and turning into the complete opposite, so the "classical liberals" adopted a new name: Libertarian.

Theft is a legal term and only holds meaning under law. State creates the law and defines what is and is not theft. Therefore taxes are not theft. Technically, all goods within the dominion of the state are property of the state (by real definition of property). Then the state grants subsidiary property rights, which it can repossess in the form of taxes.

We are absolutely fine with the collectivisation of property for the sake of social organisation. But for that collectivisation to be ethical and efficient, it needs to be voluntary. There needs to be a real social contract. It is theft when an IRS agent knocks your door down and throws you in prison because you didn't hand over 30% of your income. It is also theft when a communist "seizes" your factory.
I would rather people donate to the Church, since it is a better social institution than the state. And if people want governments for the purpose of justice or defence, then that too can be organised privately. That's the wonderful thing about European people. Through the power of private property and free association, we are capable of coercion-free social organisation.
