I can understand that for sure. I tend to think of it as a slightly nebulous theology like Shintoism where the text is there but you only need to read it if you want to understand it. Yes i agree with that. We have a book of our ideals and reasons, local lore and legends which we are passing onto our little boy as he grows up. Interestingly though I think it's important to arm them against other religions as well by teaching them about them as much as possible and pointing out where they either fall down or where they contradict themselves/ aren't practiced in this way any more. This is particularly important for us as we live in a very rural community where he can only go to a church school.
