Should a government have any responsibility to protect the health of it's citizens?

Should a government have any responsibility to protect the health of it's citizens?

No, but the government should step in to regulate the industry when the cost of healthcare exceeds what most Americans can reasonably afford. Not saying it should be cheap, but paying $200/mo with a $10,000 deductible is ludicrous

do the 4 with no topping have different fillings or the same?
what is in the yellow one?

THIS PIC WAS ON /B

BTFI

TTYHHHRRRRTBTBTGBB OOTT!!

When I was a youngin in my early 20s back in the 90s, I could pay my health care premiums working a part time job.

They were under $350 a quarter.

It absolutely should not regardless of scale, because the question of the role of government is a moral one

They're bismarks. The most common fillings are Custard, Cream, Chocolate and fruit fillings like Raspberry, Blueberry and Lemon. The one with the yellow dot on the top row is likely a Custard filled Bismark, but I can't tell on the other three

Government should fuck off and be strictly judicial. This is a libertarian board btw, since you're new.

Government should actively seek to kill people if necessary because society stagnates when there is too much comfort and not enough risk.
t. conservative

The big two are filled with milk.

>implying that's not the reason it's already high

That's disgusting.

Do you honestly think government has the right, wisdom or ability to do such a thing? Stop trusting the government. It isn't your friend.

Why do you let your government control every aspect of your life you sniveling little fuck?

Nope.

Next question.

The only role of government is to have a monopoly on force. With that in mind, do you think that the government should force you to pay for another person's health care? Do you think that the government should conscript medical professionals, forcing them to treat patients?

In my opinion, no. I want the government to use its monopoly of force to pursue any that seek to use force against me, and, other than that, stay the fuck out of my way.

Only if universal healthcare exists. Bad foods should be banned if my tax dollars are paying for its results.

Fpbp;;;

Mmmm donuts

The government should keep toxins and diseases out of food. That's about it.

If you are an adult. Act like one. look after yourself and dont expect others to do everything for you.

Start with clean water that tastes like the alps. Then we'll talk.

Cities have sugar taxes, so you tell me.

What is the government?
> People
Should people have responsibility to control the health of other people?
> No...
So people have responsibility for their own health and actions, the government is people, who have no right and yes no responsibility. People who value healthy communities have a responsibility to advocate for what they value, not impose it.

So if we Invade Iraq can the government conscript their doctors to treat US patients

Only if they have a 1st world healthcare system.

>protect the health of it's citizens
They should absolutely stop importing rapists and murderers. I'd say rape, pedophilia and murder are deleterious to your health.

You do not need health care

>$200/mo with a $10,000 deductible

I wish I could get something like that. Post ACA I can't get anything for under $700/mo.

I was better off without regulation.

I'd fill her donut, if you know what I mean

This is exactly why we need a Sparta 2.0

Stop looking at the exchanges. I use pic related, even though I have health insurance offered by my work. It's still cheaper. I just use work for dental.

Jeus CHrist mate.

all the girls I fuck are ugly and poorly shaped, I never will know what a good pair of big perky tits like OP feels like

The donuts are hiding her whale gut

sucks to be you

>Should a government have any responsibility
Stopped reading.
No, governments should be dismantled.

Do you really want me to explain to you why it might be a little bit beyond the financial, scientific and economic capabilities of your government and society to guarantee every single member of the society + whatever other people that manage to get into the society, legal or not, immortality and indestructibility?? because anything short of this is going to be grounds for protest and law suite.

It's for this reason your government likely doesn't guarantee you protection either, because failure to show up in time or protect you adequately will be grounds for legal action and protest.
It's for these reasons that people should be expected to carry most of their own weight and be given the freedom to do so, because the government typically can't do this and there is a carrying capacity for retardation. Extensive welfare states encourage dependency and require ever increasing amounts of dependency. It's a set up for disaster.

It's one thing to "cater to the neediest" and another to "cater to all". In both cases, if society/state are to be burdened with YOUR problems then perhaps they need to take on the role of guardian authority? That means mandatory abortions and sobriety because YOUR health is THEIR responsibility.
Would love to see some horny little pigs getting put in a cell for criminal drunken sex.

Dibs on this one.

If the citizens decide that it should and are willing to pay the government to manage this service then of course.

No.

At least in America, it is not anywhere expressly stated as a government duty (or power) in the Constitution. Also, I don't want it to happen, I believe people should have a bit of skin in their own care, especially since my nation is filled with fatasses, drug addicts, foolish drunks that damage themselves, Mexicans that don't pay, niggers that don't pay, chain smokers, and roasties.

I will not pay for others' mistakes and lack of self control.

Also, I suddenly have a craving for donuts and milk. Haven't had donuts in months. Haven't had breastmilk in decades.

ACA is a joke. I'm referring to regulating and reforming healthcare costs rather than insurance companies. Getting rid of frivolous medical lawsuits would be a huge step in the right direction

Cool, I'm sure debating philosophy will help the 100 million people who are underinsured and can't afford to see a doctor

Healthcare costs skyrocketed long before the ACA. Obamacare was a disaster though. The individual mandate is straight up unconstitutional

>Should a government have any responsibility to protect the health of it's citizens?
Yes. A government should protect its citizens from other actors that are trying to harm the health of its citizens. However, the government should not be concerned with a citizen deciding to do something that is harmful for their own health.

It's okay for the government to inform everyone that cigarettes are bad, but it shouldn't be the government's business to stop people from smoking cigarettes.

dibs on these

>chub-tits

> virgin-opinions

>but the government should step in to regulate the industry when the cost of healthcare exceeds what most Americans can reasonably afford
The reason the cost exceeds what most Americans can afford is because of existing regulations. The entire medical pricing system is based on what medicare is willing to pay out.

I can support that. Government should fund public health measures to allow people opportunities to make better choices. Most of the disease in first world seems to be a product of poor lifestyle anyway.

True. Has been the case since it was enacted, and the entire fee-for-service market emerging from these levels also influenced surgery-first culture in medicine, especially hospitals trying to pad their bottom line.

Sort of.
Example:
Gov should: regulate what the companies sell as food/healthy stuff ie, no putting lead on sports drinks
Gov should not: tell people what they can eat/drink. Ex, cant tell me I cant drink windex and eat glass

>implying you ever have a choice

What about indirectly influencing the consumption of unhealthy foods? Some areas you'll see legislation that effectively prices out sodas, cigarettes, etc for a lot of people. While I understand the strategy, I don't know if it works, not sure it's a fair burden of taxes on smokers or people that want to drink a Coke.

However, if I am paying for healthcare of others through taxes, I absolutely want their to be a way to phase out the most unhealthy of behaviors (smoking, being fat, being a slut, etc.)

And taxing the business owners so it's less profitable to run and own a business helps them?
What about stopping businesses from hiring more people as if the employer hires a 51st person their expenses outweigh profits and they go out of business.
I'm sure philosophy doesn't matter then. Thanks Obama

Your ancestors made it. It's not the kind of thing to be removed and reinstated every few years

Most of this falls under the category of Libertarian paternalism and the harm principal. Disincentivizing people from making mistakes, having the default option be the one that is most likely to benefit them, but to allow them to make the mistake. It's an interesting realm of literature I'd recommend you guys look into. Libertarian paternalism may sound oxymoronic but it's not.

Yes, the way to do this is by taxing fat people more, not by taxing unhealthy food/products but by having different tax rates based on what weight range you're in and the general health of a person.

The problem is that the worst of them pay no tax, they are only a burden. It's like asking the aborigines to pay more for their social services, when they are sitting in a park land somewhere sinking tins instead of working.

So what happens in reality is the harder you work the harder you get fucked in the ass by the government. Start a second job? 50% tax. Get obese and go to hospital for heart surgery not working for years? Millions spent on you.

Socialist programs are most effective with a strong nationalistic country where everyone is in on the social contract, a fair go for everyone who is actually a fucking aussie, not some oxygen thief

> $200 a month
>$10,000 deductible

Try $700 a month on a $7,000 deductible. Thats literally what my work's "employee health plan" is. You wanna know the joke? This particular place is required by state law to provide the option of an employee health plan. So they throw that offer out there then remind you that it is of course, strictly optional.

Government should slaughter degenerates and infiltrators, nice tatas

Government is here solely to protect human rights within the nation.

From foreigners who would infringe on them?
